Search savannah plains<br />

Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to<br />

95 species of mammal and over 600 kinds<br />

of exotic bird. Travel by boat on the Kazinga<br />

Channel, watching for wallowing hippo, water<br />

buffalo and elephant on the shores. Check<br />

out chimpanzee in Kyambura Gorge and<br />

tree-climbing lion in Ishasha.<br />

Dive deep into Lake Kivu<br />

The most beautiful of Africa’s great lakes is<br />

a special destination. Whether you relax on<br />

its banks or swim in its waters, its rich blue<br />

colours are mesmerising. Scan stunning vistas<br />

from a boat trip to Gisenyi or enjoy fishing<br />

and canoeing along shorelines jewelled with<br />

terraced escarpments and pretty villages.<br />

Navigate the Nile at its most intense<br />

Uganda’s largest and oldest national park,<br />

Murchison Falls was established in 1952 and is<br />

now a renowned conservation area. Untamed<br />

wilderness, sprawling savannah and dramatic<br />

waterfalls create a spellbinding experience of<br />

natural power and beauty. Spot lion, elephant,<br />

hippo, waterbuck, leopard, hyena and birdlife<br />

in a variety of ecosystems.<br />

Observe the majestic mountain gorilla<br />

Bwindi is home to the mighty mountain<br />

gorilla and no one knows this nearly<br />

impenetrable forest better than our guides.<br />

Altitudes range from 1,000 to 2,600m in this<br />

biologically diverse park, but the gorilla is<br />

the breathtaking star attraction. Tracking<br />

these inspiring primates in their natural<br />

environment is unforgettable.<br />

Nyungwe Forest National Park presents the<br />

very best of African wildlife. The unspoiled<br />

rainforest is famed for its incredible<br />

biodiversity and rare species such as the<br />

Ruwenzori colobus and L’Hoest’s monkey.<br />

Track chimpanzee through lush forested<br />

terrain, and, with luck, you will make contact.<br />

Explore Rwanda’s troubled past<br />

Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to better<br />

understand the country’s violent past. The<br />

memorial opened in 2004 and is an emotional<br />

reminder of Rwanda’s 1994 genocide. Its<br />

fascinating educational centre details the<br />

tragic past of this nation and shows how the<br />

people move forward together positively.<br />

Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp<br />

The first camp that was built in the<br />

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, this luxurious<br />

eight-tent camp sits in an amazing natural<br />

environment and delights guests with its<br />

cuisine, service and exceptional primate<br />

knowledge. Mountain gorilla occasionally<br />

visit the grounds to play.<br />

Bisate Lodge<br />

Contemporary Bisate Lodge is the newest<br />

eco-luxe lodge in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National<br />

Park. Dramatically positioned in an eroded<br />

volcanic cone, it is ideally placed to start<br />

your gorilla-spotting adventure. The lodge’s<br />

six villas are designed to reflect traditional<br />

Rwandan spherical, thatched buildings.<br />

One&Only Nyungwe House<br />

Perched on the edge of the vast Nyungwe<br />

Forest National Park and overlooking the<br />

forest canopy, this 22-room hotel has been<br />

converted from an existing tea plantation. The<br />

property offers an exquisite window into the<br />

area’s exceptional wildlife. The forest is<br />

one of the oldest in Africa and is home to<br />

13 different species of primates.<br />
