Tour pre-Incan sites &
Ecuadorian markets
In the beautiful city of Quito, a UNESCO
World Heritage Site, experience the lively
foodie scene, Baroque churches and aromatic
markets. In the surrounding area, see the
pre-Inca site of Rumicucho, or ride the
gondola lift to the summit of the Pichincha
volcano for extraordinary mountain views.
Gallivant in the Galápagos Islands
The Galápagos is a world-famous archipelago
off the Ecuadorian coast. Tour its islands to
see the unique animals that call this place
home, from sea lion and marine iguana to
giant tortoise and blue-footed booby. And
with no land predators, they’re as curious
about you as you are about them.
Experience the Amazon
The Ecuadorian Amazon is one of the most
biologically rich places on Earth. Luckily,
it’s also remarkably travel-friendly. An
invigorating jungle visit promises sightings
of monkey, sloth, caiman and river dolphin.
You can even brave some of the finest whitewater
in South America on a rafting trip.
Swim with seal
Swim alongside the compact and cute
Galápagos fur seal in the crystal blue waters
surrounding the islands, and meet more of
the endemic species that call this archipelago
home. This destination is famed for its unique
flora and fauna, and a great place for kids to
get closer to nature.
Ride horses around Cotopaxi
Saddle up for a horseback ride across the
dramatic, undulating landscape surrounding
Cotopaxi, one of the world’s highest volcanoes.
Opt for a brief trot or a full day of riding,
traversing great pampas (plains) through
leafy forests and scenic mountain passes.
It’s an unforgettable way to experience
this beautiful region.
Head to Las Tanusas
Las Tanusas is a coastal retreat near Guayaquil
boasting sublime surf and white-sand beaches.
Sip tropical juice, sample fresh oysters and
chow on fantastic ceviche – fish and seafood
cured in lime juice. A visit to Las Tanusas
after exploring the Galápagos is the perfect
way to relax.
MV Origin
Travel in comfort on the MV Origin, an
expedition vessel and luxury yacht. Stay in one
of the 10 twin staterooms (beds in these rooms
can be converted into kings). Each features
large windows and a private bathroom.
MV Origin operates eight-day itineraries to
discover the Galápagos Islands, with expert
naturalists and an experienced crew on-hand.
Casa Gangotena
This colonial mansion has prime position
overlooking Quito’s Plaza San Francisco. Its
sophisticated interior embraces the building’s
original features and the garden is ablaze with
ornamental plants. The hotel’s rooftop terrace
affords panoramic views across the spires and
towers of Quito’s Old Town to Panecillo Hill.
Hacienda Zuleta
Dating from the 16th century, this hotel lies
in the spectacular Andean mountain range
two hours north of Quito. Arriving at this
colonial-era farm feels like being welcomed
into the home of a long-lost friend. Its
charming rooms are decorated with antiques,
family pictures and hand-embroidered linens.
