“For since the creation of the world His invisible
attributes, His eternal power and divine nature,
have been clearly seen, being understood
through what has been made, so that they are
without excuse.” - - Romans 1:20
e have bittersweet
feelings… excitement
to finally reach our
goal (Sukkot), but sadness in
knowing we’ll soon be saying
goodbye to the students whom
we’ve grown to love. What a
privilege to see what they have
accomplished over the last few
months. We look forward to
seeing where the Father will lead
them and how He will use them.
Numerous lives have been
touched by each student. Their
commitment to learn, improve,
and bless others has been such a
needed inspiration. We are
amazed by Yah’s provision.
There’s still much to be done,
and we are so encouraged by
those who are partnering with
us. Please feel free to contact us
LOVELY IN
LAVENDER
A
ugust
saw
us visit a
Lavender
Farm called “Herbs and More”. They are Located in
Farmersville, CA. Herbs and More is an adult day
program for developmentally disabled folks. The
participants are given the opportunity to grow,
harvest, and make various beauty products to sell. It
is a fantastic
experience for
them to learn
how to grow a
garden, and they
get paid for their
work, too.
We were able to tour their facilities, smell some
lavender, and purchase some of their beauty
products. It was a very fun day, and it got us all
excited to grow, harvest, and use our own lavender!
(I PETER 2:25) PEOPLE ARE SHEEPLE
Growing In Torah
“For you were like sheep going astray, but have now
returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your beings.”
Yesterday some sheep escaped the pen. It took a team of people
to catch them. I also observed sheep refusing to come to us when we bring fresh grass, but
yet will go to “Bucky,” the wolf dog, who wants to tear them to pieces. Oh man, are we
sheeple!. People are sheep, and sheep are people. Let us NOT pursue the things that want
to destroy us, but RUN to the Shepherd who takes care of us. - - Anna (GIT Student)

LOVE’N
THE OVEN
Y
ay, it is finally done. For the past few weeks we
have been working on building an earthen
oven. This was originally David’s project, and it
is from his hard foundational work that we’ve been able to start building. David researched
rocket stoves, cobb building techniques, and created the plans for us to build from. We have a
concrete block foundation for height and stability,
and for the base, which is between the rocket
stove fire and the oven floor, are fire bricks. Upon
that we mixed clay and sand for the foundational
bricks on the outside. We used sand to shape our
dome, and set our bricks on that. For the second
layer we mixed clay, sand and straw, much like the
Ancient Israelites did in Egypt, by stomping on it.
We filled in the cracks with a sandy clay paste, and
covered the outside with a sandy clay slurry to give it a smooth
covering. I enjoyed being creative
with colored glass, as I decorated
the parking lot side with a SUKKOT
Menorah, and also the REGISTRATION
rocket stove feeder with
flowers. What a great
way to learn of earthen
masonry.
GREENHOUSE GOODNESS
In August, we visited the Wilgenburg Greenhouses,
owned by Hans Wilgenburg. First, he took us on a tour
around his farm showing us his many greenhouses, with organic
as well as conventional produce. He also showed us his worm farm, which he uses to
compost the manure to make his plants happy. He even donated two barrels of tomatoes
to us for canning and dehydrating. We’d like to thank Mr. Wilgenburg for being such a huge
blessing to us!
What
Is GIT?
Growing In Torah is a College-Age
program beginning in March, and ending in
the Fall with the Feast of Tabernacles harvest
festival. GIT takes place on a central CA farm.
Farm life teaches important life skills, like:
hard work, dedication to detail, patience,
tenacity and humility. We strive to plant these
skills within our young men and women.
The Bible was written to an agricultural
society. Like Yeshua, who used agricultural
analogies in the parables, we use this
agricultural perspective to teach and train our
students both in the physical and spiritual. At
GIT, we are all about getting back to our roots,
and it is a rewarding experience to see this
come to life in our student volunteers as they
get their hands dirty, growing in Torah.
FINDING MEANING
IN GLEANING
David
“Gleanings for the Hungry” is an organization that
receives donations of produce that other farmers
cannot sell. They process that produce, and send it
to the hungry all over the world. Upon arriving, we
had a moment of worship and a time for all of the
volunteer groups to introduce themselves. Our first
task was stacking pallets of peaches that had been
laid out in the sun to dehydrate. After that, some of
us went to sort through hundreds of damaged
pallets. A tough job, but we succeeded in the task.
Thank you Gleanings! - - Anna (GIT Student)
MAKING THE MARKET
4
ROMANS 1:20
We each had a project to research and sell at the Visalia
farmers market. Projects include: mini-solar dehydrators,
herb boxes, culinary and medicinal herbs. We learned customer
service skills, marketing, and how to witness to YHWH's Torah.
Many people recognized the word Torah, or they knew a little about
tzitzi'ot, and they would ask us questions. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs.
Barnes, for providing us these skills. - - Daniel (GIT Student)
