Resources at the Mokena library are available to anyone who has a library card. Students can turn to the library for reference materials and services that support academic achievement. The library houses thousands of titles in print, a large collection of eBooks and numerous online subscription databases available in the library and remotely. The library selected these online resources for you, so people know they can trust that the information is accurate. Students can access free reference resources 24/7 online at www.mokenali brary.org. They will have access to literary criticism, science and technology, language courses, readers’ advisory and much more. These resources include Gale Virtual Reference Library with more than 300 research books and Tutor.com for students in grades K-12 and college students. Access to Tutor.com is available 10 a.m.-10 p.m., seven days a week. Explore the many ways the library can help find the answers anyone may need. Come check out the exciting technologies at the library for STEAM education. Our 3-D printer class teaches participants to create objects designed on a computer and print them out using 3-D printing technology. The virtual reality computer allows users an interactive learning experience. Learners can travel the solar system or be shrunk down to microscopic levels and explore the human body using the VR station. The library also meets a wide range of other technology needs of the student with internet and Wi-Fi access, public computers, printers, Wi- Fi printing, scan station and an Intel Reader to assist those with dyslexia or others who may need assistance with reading. The library also has numerous programs and activities for students throughout the year. By providing school-age children with engaging programs and amazing collections, students from all backgrounds become excited and enthusiastic readers. This school year, we encourage students to open the door to a world of possibilities and sign up for a library card today. We are also promoting reading to newborns, infants and toddlers with 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This program does encourage parent and child bonding through reading.
