lack adequate information. If access
to information is possible, access it to
enlighten your mind.
7. Create an ability to see positive
outcomes.
Life is about perspective. You must
create that ability to see a positive
outcome. If someone comes with
things that want to create worry,
ask the right questions. Sometimes
people will whip us into a state
of worry and they are acting on
inadequate information.
The musician Bobby
McFerrin made popular
the words, “Don’t worry,
be happy” in his song. His
lyrics state: “In every life
we have some trouble But when
you worry you make it double. Don’t
Worry, Be Happy. Ain’t got no place
to lay your head, somebody came and
took your bed. Don’t Worry, Be Happy.
The landlord say your rent is late, he
may have to litigate. Don’t Worry, Be
Happy. The song goes on and on and
on and seems to suggest that one can
simply snap out of worry and simply be
happy.
Before him, Bob Marley also sang:
“Don’t worry about a thing. ‘Cause
every little thing, is gonna be alright”.
Many people want to snap out of
worry but their brains, emotions and
possibly the state of their mind does
not allow them to walk-away that
easily.
Worry is the act of tormenting
oneself with, or to suffer from
disturbing thoughts. It is fretting over
every matter. It is an act which brings
a lot of anguish, mentally, physically,
emotionally and sometimes spiritually.
Worry is a projection of anxiety
and apprehension, particularly over
situations that we sometimes do not
have total control over.
Worry has never been known to
accomplish anything; rather, it leaves
the person under its spell totally
miserable. This is because much of
what people worry about, they may
not even have control over. Worry
cannot change the past, neither can it
be the solution to the issue at hand.
In order to end worry, you can take
these steps.
1. Make a list of all the worries.
Analyse the list, embrace the
fact that there will be a degree of
uncertainty for some time to come
but in the midst of it all, stay calm.
2. Make yourself uncomfortable.
In other words, do not be
comfortable in the zone of worry.
3. Move on and get away from the
feeling of urgency.
When we are worried, a sense of
urgency comes upon us because
we want to snap out of the
problem. You have got to learn
to not work yourself into a frenzy
when you think, “This matter is
urgent and I need to get out of it.”
Things are not always as bad as
they seem.
4. You must cry out for help.Talk to
somebody about it. Deal with one
day at a time.
5. You must practice mindfulness.
Let your mind be full of other
things. This will serve as a good
distraction from the very subject
that worries you.
6. Get to the root of your worry.
Sometimes worries result from a
8. Designate time for some worries.
Some matters will never go away. You
might as well find it, face it and finish
it. Get to the root of the problem and
do not make assumptions.
9. Let God do a new thing in your life.
“Behold, I will do a new thing, now it
shall spring forth; shall you not know
it? I will even make a road in the
wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:19
Always be ready, be open to
experiencing a new thing. You need
to recognise the toxicity of worry
and address it from the perspective.
Ask God to help you get rid of this
satanic toxin that is eating into your
happiness.
10. Learn to laugh
Even though it may not make natural
sense, part of the practical steps
that need to be mastered includes
laughter.
“A merry heart does good, like medicine,
but a broken spirit dries the bones.”
Proverbs 17:22
Beating worry takes a concerted effort.
It takes going the extra mile.As you
rely on God and pray, He can give you
unspeakable joy in the midst of whatever
has caused worry.
“Whom having not seen you love. Though
now you do not see Him, yet believing, you
rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of
glory,” 1 Peter 1:8
Stay focused on your purpose and
direction in life, and don’t allow worry to
distract you.
“I press toward the goal for the prize of
the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:14
