FG sets new target for
acquisition of 2 back-up
satelites

ABUJA—THE Federal
Government says it is
committed to acquire the
proposed back-up satellites
before the end of its
administeation in May,
2019.
The Minister of
Communications, Barr.
Adebayo Shittu made the
pledge on Thursday when
the governing board of the
agency paid him a courtesy
visit in his office at Abuja.
The minister said the
Federal Government is
ever commited to acquire
two additional satellites to
reposition the Nigerian
Communications Satellite,
NIGCOMSAT Limited for
better service delivery.

LAGOS — AVIATION
Handling Company,
NAHCO-aviance has
signed new contract to
provide ground handling
services for five new
airlines. This is just as the
company has posted a
superlative 2018 Half year
financial performance.
This was revealed by
NAHCO’s Managing
Director/CEO, Mr. Idris
Yakubu who took over as
CEO in November 2017.
Yakubu said the good
financial performance is a
result of growing faith in
the new management that
has superintended the
affairs of the company
during the period.
The new airlines to be
handled by the company
are Max Air which recently
achieved that. Despite the
delayed visit, we were able
to discuss a number of
substantial issues. We also
resolved to take certain
major steps to encourage
the business of
NIGCOMSAT," he said.
Shittu said it was
unfortunate that a lot of
people over the year do not
really appreciate what
NIGCOMSAT stands for
and it is for the Nigerian
fledging economy, and as
such receive little or no
patronage from both the
public and private
organizations, who
patronize foreign satellite
for their services.
He, however, vowed that
the ministry would
continue to work hard to
come up with a new
approach towards funding
the project without unduly
affecting other government
needs.

ASABA—A stalwart of
the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, in Delta State,
Mr. Andrew Obene, has
commended the state
Commissioner for Works,
Chief James Aguoye for his
contributions towards the
effective implementation of
the SMART agenda of
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Obene, in a statement
yesterday, said that,
"Aguoye has really worked
as he promised by
touching many people
financially, like the aged,
jobless, and the
handicapped.
He also assisted in the
construction of markets and
roads in all parts of the state
as well as other areas like
agriculture and electricity.
"He has even made deaf
and dumb persons to
evangelize for Governor
Okowa's second tenure
with sign languages to
individuals. God has really
used this devoted,
dedicated and God-fearing
commissioner for the
benefit of all Deltans.
"He is still working round
the clock without
sentiments, segregation,
not egocentric and never
tired to ensure that our
governor's second term
whose benevolence has
transformed Delta State
with his concrete-solid work
done by our commissioner
for Works."
