ITINERARY<br />
Day 1: Arrival Lucerne<br />
Individual arrival to Lucerne by train (included).<br />
Lucerne, the gateway to central <strong>Switzerland</strong>,<br />
sited on Lake Lucerne, is embedded<br />
within an impressive mountainous panorama.<br />
Overnight in Lucerne.<br />
Day 2: Lucerne – Interlaken<br />
(GoldenPass Line)<br />
Today’s journey takes you over the Brünigpass<br />
into the Bernese Oberland and passing Lake<br />
Brienz. Interlaken lies in the Bernese Oberland<br />
on an alluvial plain, between Lake Thun and<br />
Lake Brienz. The vacation destination, which<br />
is presided over by the three mighty mountains,<br />
Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, is the starting<br />
point for numerous activities. Overnight<br />
in Interlaken.<br />
Day 3: Jungfraujoch/Interlaken – Montreux<br />
(Golden Pass Line)<br />
Excursion to the Jungfraujoch, which is the<br />
highest railway station in Europe at 3454 m.<br />
Enjoy some breath-taking views of the Aletsch<br />
Glacier. In the early evening journey on the<br />
GoldenPass Line. Along the shores of Lake<br />
Thun your journey takes you through wild and<br />
romantic landscapes and scenic villages before<br />
the panoramic view of Lake Geneva and<br />
Montreux opens in front of you. Overnight<br />
in Montreux.<br />
Day 4: Montreux – Zermatt/Brig<br />
Board the train in Montreux and make your<br />
way to Zermatt/Brig. The rest of the day is<br />
at your disposal. Zermatt lies at the foot of<br />
the Matterhorn. The destination is a car-free<br />
zone, has preserved its original character and<br />
offers nearly unlimited possibilities as far as<br />
excursions are concerned.The town of Brig<br />
with its historic old quarter and the Stockalper<br />
Palace lies in the sunny Upper Valais at the<br />
foot of the Simplonpass. It is close to hiking<br />
and ski regions and it also has its own thermal<br />
baths, making it an attractive holiday resort.<br />
Overnight in Zermatt or Brig.<br />
Day 5: Zermatt/Brig – Chur (Glacier Express)<br />
In the morning you take the world famous<br />
Glacier Express for a thrilling ride in the panorama<br />
carriage to Chur. Along the deep Rhone<br />
valley, the Glacier Express travels through an<br />
incredibly fascinating part of the Alps. The<br />
train drives on over the Oberalp pass (2033 m)<br />
and through the impressive Rhine gorge. <strong>Switzerland</strong>’s<br />
oldest city Chur charms visitors with<br />
its fine mountain setting, twisting alleys and<br />
historic buildings. Numerous boutiques, restaurants,<br />
bars, museums and galleries in the<br />
largely traffic-free Old Town create a Mediterranean-style<br />
atmosphere. Overnight in Chur.<br />
Day 6: Chur – Tirano – Chur<br />
(Bernina Express)<br />
Board the narrow-gauge Bernina Express and<br />
travel over circular viaducts and pass through<br />
winding tunnels before reaching Tirano in Italy<br />
which is the end of the Bernina Express<br />
rail line. Have a quick lunch before taking the<br />
Bernina Express back to Chur. Overnight in<br />
Chur.<br />
