The Institute officially opened its second physical<br />
branch office in Kisumu on 16th March 2018.<br />
The new office is located at Mega Plaza, 2nd<br />
Floor. The branch office was officially opened by<br />
Mr. Nerry Achar CEC Finance, Kisumu County.<br />
Others who attended the inauguration ceremony<br />
included ICPAK Chairman - FCPA Julius Mwatu, ICPAK Vice<br />
Chair - CPA Rose Mwaura, ICPAK Chief Executive Officer -<br />
CPA Edwin Makori, Council members and ICPAK branch<br />
leaders among others. The new Branch is expected to bring<br />
services closer to more than 300 members in Nyanza region.<br />

Kenya (ICPAK) FCPA<br />
Julius Mwatu officially<br />
unveiled the inaugural<br />
Board for the Centre for Public<br />
Finance and Tax. This marks<br />
the beginning of the process of<br />
establishing the Centre for Public<br />
Finance and Tax (CPFT) after the<br />
Council of the Institute established<br />
it through policy.<br />
The board is Chaired by Rajesh<br />
Shah and it draws representation<br />
from experienced tax practitioners, Public Finance<br />
specialists, Kenya Revenue Authority, the National<br />
Treasury and academia. The Centre will serve as an<br />
accreditation body for local tax and public finance<br />
professionals in Kenya and will also act as a think-tank<br />
on matters of taxation and public finance for the entire<br />
East African region.<br />

include professional<br />
accountants offering tax<br />
advisory, accountants in<br />
public sector, tax agents,<br />
lawyers in tax practice,<br />
academicians, Public<br />
Finance specialists<br />
and other graduates<br />
seeking to specialize in<br />
Tax or Public Finance<br />
Management. ICPAK<br />
shall provide secretariat<br />
support to the Board in<br />
the short-term through<br />
the leadership of the CEO<br />
CPA Edwin Makori, who is also a board member. While<br />
unveiling the board, FCPA Julius Mwatu reiterated the<br />
Council’s commitment to undertake robust stakeholder<br />
management to secure buy in from stakeholders including<br />
but not limited to the National Treasury, respective County<br />
Treasuries, the Kenya Revenue Authority as well as training<br />
Institutions including universities.<br />
