Letter<br />
We laugh a lot, putting together every issue of this<br />
magazine, but this is the first time I’ve ever had my<br />
eyes well up with big fat tears.<br />
That happens every time I look at the picture of Ava (page 7<br />
of this month’s <strong>Education</strong> <strong>supplement</strong>) looking so brave and so<br />
smart in her uniform on her very first day at school.<br />
All parents have vivid memories of sending their little ones<br />
off on the start of their educational journey, indeed most of us<br />
remember our own first day. It’s a big deal for all concerned,<br />
which is why we have an article full of great advice about<br />
preparing your child – and yourself! – for it.<br />
But with my daughter about to embark on her first postschool<br />
stage of education I know all too well that the concern<br />
to do everything right to support your child never goes away,<br />
so we have covered all the stages of schooling right up to uni<br />
applications and the new alternatives to that path.<br />
We also have two spectacular and very different houses,<br />
inspiring gardens, delicious food and expert beauty and wellbeing<br />
advice. And I’m particularly pleased this month with our fashion<br />
story, which offers brilliant styling tips for how chaps can add<br />
fresh zest to the rather limiting trousers/shirt/jacket combination.<br />
It’s amazing the difference just turning up shirt cuffs, or adding<br />
a silk square to a blazer pocket can make.<br />
