NEWCASTLE, AUGUST 18 th
HI Vans Family!
Below is a soft feedback about our END OF SUMMER event which I hope you will find useful:
the day was a success with some fantastic results. Our event ran from 13.00-17.00 where during
this time there was 20% discount throughout the store.
From 13.00 we had a team member at the entrance of our store notifying EVERY customer of the
discount and exclusions as well as beer, pizza and soft drinks. This was definitely key to the
increased sales and UPT during the whole event. By letting every customer know, it spurred them on
to make their purchase within the afternoon, even if they had just intended on browsing. Also
drawing attention to our event was the local band, Lone Wolf. They were set up in our right hand
side window and could be seen from outside. Live music was a fantastic way to raise some
awareness of the event to passers-by and also created an amazing atmosphere in store. Another
great addition to our event was a tattoo artist called James 'Big Red' Richardson from Northern
Glory tattoo studio in Newcastle City centre. During the event our customers had the chance to
have traditional style tattoo designs drawn onto their shoes for free. This was very well received
and Big Red was busy right into the last hour of trade even after the event had finished.
Sales target for the day was £3943, we finished on £5837 actual(+48%), +17.3% on the KPI report.
Saturday was the only day of week 20 we achieved target. This was an increase of 66% on the
previous Saturday 14/08 where £3521 was our actual money taken. The event gave us a substantial
increase in sales and had it been another normal Saturday, it would have very likely been similar to
14/08 where it was very quiet in store and not a massive amount of footfall on the street. We are
currently in Summer Holidays throughout England with just a week left. This has had a huge effect
on trade in general with many families abroad and all students have left Newcastle to go home for
the summer. From the first week in September schools will start their new term and students will
make their way back for a new year of studies. Luckily our event attracted a large number of
customers within the four hours it was on. This was definitely helped by the band and tattoo artist
in store and also some word of mouth throughout the afternoon from customers to their friends
and family who later paid us a visit.
We are certain given the chance to hold another event in the future, it would be even more
successful. We are exceptionally happy with how last Saturday went and are pleased that all of our
hard work and planning for the event paid off. The biggest factor to take away from last Saturday
would be the timing of the event and in future we would look to hold it when schools are running
and students are back in the city. This would absolutely maximize footfall to ensure sales were even
higher.
Kind regards,
Ash, Assistant Store Manager
