For the very first time in the history of ICAI (Dubai), an
event was conducted at the Indian Consulate, Dubai. The
3rd edition of the popular VAT Clinic was conducted at
the Indian Consulate, and was graced by the presence of
H.E. Shri Vipul, Consul General of India to Dubai.

H.E. Shri Vipul lauded the efforts of ICAI (Dubai) in making
members and others aware of the new VAT regulations
through its events.
With the release of Executive Regulations on VAT, the UAE
Government cleared a final piece of legislation required
to implement VAT in UAE effective 1 January 2018.
Chief Guest, His Excellency Saud Salim Al Mazrouei,
Director of Hamriyah Free Zone and SAIF Zone addressed
members and guests present, and appreciated the work
of ICAI (Dubai) in enlightening its members and people in
the UAE about the VAT laws.
The speakers at the event answered VAT related
questions of members, and addressed industry specific
queries on Real Estate, Free Zones etc. The speakers at
this session were VAT experts, CA. Girish Chand Director-
MCA Management Consultants, CA. Manu Nair-CEO-
Emirates Chartered Accountants Group, CA. Sangeetha
Nahar-Senior Manager- Finance-Dubai Properties Group
and CA. Dilip Jain-VAT Lead, ICAI VAT Faculty. Over 200
ICAI (Dubai) members, NRIs and guests attended this
event.
Speakers Ms. Clare McColl, Head of Indirect Tax and
CA Ankur Jain, Senior Manager – VAT from KPMG
demystified Executive Regulations, by mapping them
to the VAT Law. This was followed by a session by Mr.
Mansoor Sarwar, Director Technical Services & Pre Sales,
Sage Middle East on digitalizing VAT.
Master Abhiraj Gupta, the youngest speaker of 14 years
addressing the audience, conducted a short session on
VAT and Arabic language – which may be a key element
in the VAT regime. A VAT sectoral snapshot was delivered
by CA Pratik Shah-Partner-Dhruva Consultants, and CA
Deepak Agarwal, Director - VAT, PWC discussed “Change
