Both Division One teams exited the FA Vase. Two goals from
James Lemon kept Droitwich in the game against Midland
League Premier Division Coventry United but the higher division
opponents had too much emerging as 4-2 winners. Tipton’s FA
Vase exploits were short lived losing 3-0 at Bolehall Swifts.
Also in the Vase two goals from former Darlaston man Kieran
Whittaker and a third from Scott Sandland saw Wolves Casuals
through to the next round with a 3-1 away win at AFC
Bridgnorth. Also through are Wednesfield, Wellington, Bewdley
Town, Dudley Sports and Cradley Town.
Two goals from Ryan Piggott and one from Dean Cutler gave
Cradley a 3-1 win at United Counties League side Lutterworth
Athletic whilst Herefordshire based Wellington won by the odd
goal in five against North West Counties League Division One
and last season’s West Mid’s League Division One side St
Martins FC.
The understatement of the day was on the Pegasus Juniors
twitter page at half time as they were losing 4-0 at Midland
League Racing Club Warwick it read “Going to need a
monumental comeback if we’re to progress or force a replay”.
They eventually lost 10-0.
In Division Two FC Darlaston continued their fine start to the
season with a 7-2 win at Tipton Town Reserves, Dion Davies
and Adam Cole both bagged a brace with goals from Jack Arnold
and former Darlaston players Sam Baxter and Jake Robinson
completing the scoring.
In their first game of the season AFC Bentley demonstrated
their credentials beating Division leaders Hawkins Sports 7-4
with a hat trick by Jamal Jakeman, two from Jead Clarke and
further goals from Nick Grey and former Darlaston winger Daryl
Westwood completing the scoring.
The review does not normally contain any midweek football, but
special mention this week must go to very near neighbours FC
Darlaston. On Wednesday evening they travelled the short
distance to current Smedley Crooke Cup holders Bilston Town.
FC Darlaston led the game until the game was abandoned after
92 minutes because of floodlight failure. They now face a tense
wait for the cup committee to rule if the result will stand
or the game will be required to be replayed 21
