This tour is designed for travelers who would like to explore something more of the classic tours to the Colca valley.
Those travelers that enjoy sharing activities with local people, short optional hikes, visit traditional non tourist towns or
to have some adrenaline shot doing zip line, etc. Our excursion with take you through the long route toward to the
valley, you will explore the Colca valley and canyon with all its highlights, and finish in the city of Puno on Lake Titicaca,
having a previous visit to the enigmatic “Chulpas of Sillustani”.

first day
Our departure will be at 7:30 am from Arequipa,
driving around 190 km to the town of Coporaque. At
the beginning of our excursion we will enjoy the
majestic views of the Misti, Chachani and PichuPichu
volcanoes before approaching the National Reserve
of “Pampa Cañahuas”, where our vehicle will make a
short stop to observe the wild vicuñas (one of the 4
types of South American camelids) in its natural
habitat. At this point we will be about 3,400 meters.
We keep driving forward to the upper part of the
valley observing in our journey the natural scenery
formed by different lakes and have a over view of the
place from La Ventana (a rock formation called: the
Window). – On the route we will have many stops for
pictures and enjoy the surrounding nature.
After this visit we return to our transport and
continue with our excursion observing on the route huge rock
formations called “Los Castillos de Callalli” (The Callalli’s
castles). We will arrive to the traditional town of Callalli; with its
charming plaza and a wonderful view of the Mount Torreqaqa
(Stone Mountain) or Saya Saya, which can be seen from
anywhere in the village.
We’ll make a short visit of the town and then keep driving until
we reach the town of Sibayo, located in the upper part of
Colca, 3,850 meters. Its name in Quechua language is
Rumillaqta, which means “city of stone,” as nearly all of its
streets, houses and churches are made from this material,
making it one of the prettiest towns in the valley.
In Sibayo town we will have our lunch with a local family (Time
for sharing, learn above daily activities etc.) and enjoy the
Sibayo cuisine. After Lunch we will have time for visit the Plaza
and surroundings areas.
