Dressing the table for a dinner party is one of<br />
the best bits of the preparation, but it can become<br />
costly very quickly, so why not consider making<br />
an arrangement using a cake or loaf tin as a base?<br />
When it comes to upcycling kitchenalia, the older<br />
the items the better, but that’s not to say you have<br />

to rush to your local antiques shop. With a little<br />
know-how you can easily age a more modern<br />
kitchen item and fake a time-worn patina.<br />
Using utensils in the garden can also be practical.<br />
Funnels are the perfect shape for small plants,<br />
while an old ornate fork can be transformed into<br />
a plant marker. Even a boring grater can become<br />
something beautiful for just a few pounds. Open<br />
your cupboards, ask yourself if there’s anything<br />
that deserves to shine and then make it happen.<br />

1 Plan what you would like your forks<br />
to say.<br />
2 Arrange the letter stamps and work<br />
out how to space your letters for the<br />
best look.<br />
3 If unsure, practise on a piece of<br />
metal before you begin.<br />
4 Using the hammer, stamp out the<br />
letters directly onto your forks.<br />
