Quarterly Laundry Report
FDR Services Responds to Hurricane Florence
When Hurricane Florence made impact along the U.S. east coast, FDR was
ready and responded quickly. In order to provide continuous service to our
customers, FDR has an Emergency Preparedness Program to ensure there is
no interruption of laundry services or deliveries to any of our present or
future healthcare customers in the event of an emergency or natural
disaster.
As the storm hit land on Friday, September 14, FDR had already taken
action. We sent truckloads of linen to many of our customers affected by
the storm including Novant Health Brunswick County Medical Center and
Dosher Memorial Hospital.
FDR made sure Novant was prepared for the storm by delivering three
palettes of processed COG linen on Thursday, September 13.
“As Hurricane Florence approached our Brunswick County Medical
Center, FDR partnered with us to prepare for the possibility of our
facility being isolated by flooding for an extended period. We continued
to receive linen almost up to the start of the rain and then again as
soon as roads became passable several days later. We had no linen
shortage in large part to the efforts of FDR to support us. Hats off to the
FDR team!”

Emergency Services received 200 packs of
emergency service linen on Saturday,
September 22, 2018.
We also provided Dosher with double orders of linen before and after Hurricane Florence made landfall. In addition
to delivering extra linen to our customers, FDR had constant communication to the appropriate authorities to
ensure we were given priority delivery during the storm.

Following the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, FDR created and distributed 200 emergency service packs to
Brunswick County Emergency Services on Saturday, September 22, 2018. These packs were custom-made to supply
linen to evacuees from the hurricane. FDR will also launder the linen from these packs and return them to
Brunswick County Emergency Services once the flooding has receded.

Going Green Initiatives:
Reusable Surgical Gowns Decrease Carbon Footprint
Surgical gowns play a crucial role in providing barrier protection for staff and
patients in the OR. While surgical gowns are available in both reusable or singleuse
forms, reusable surgical gowns are the most sustainable option.
According to an analysis completed by the American Reusable Textile
Association (ARTA) and the International Association for Healthcare Textile
Management (IAHTM), and contracted with independent research firm
Environmental Clarity, reusable surgical gowns show a sustainability advantage
over disposables.
The analysis shows that selecting reusable surgical gowns over disposables
reduced environmental damage through:
•A 64% decrease of natural resource energy consumption.
•A 66% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions.
•An 87% decrease in water utilization (blue water).
•An 84% decrease in hospital-generated solid waste.

Featured Product Story: Mammography Robes
At FDR Services, we are always on the lookout for the very best products for our customers.
Which is why when one of our facilities approached us about finding the perfect product to
make their patients’ mammograms a little more comfortable, FDR found mammography
robes to be the perfect option.
Our mammography robes have a soft texture and are extremely lightweight and
comfortable. In addition to providing an extra level of comfort to patients, the pink ribbon
that is the symbol for breast cancer awareness, is embroidered on each robe to show

FDR Plant Renovation News
As part of our efforts to better serve our customers with the most
innovative equipment in the industry, FDR Services is pleased to
share that we are continuing Phase II of our $10 million
renovation project. The goal of this renovation is to create a more
sustainable and productive work environment for our employees
while creating the best customer service experience for our
customers. Here is an update on the progress of the renovation:
• Independent Water System: FDR has divorced itself
from the public water system by re-installing a water
well to make ourselves more self-sufficient. We pump
and process our own well water which saves
thousands of gallons of water per day, thus
decreasing our carbon footprint.
• Site Improvements and Logistics: FDR Services is
upgrading all tunnel dispensing equipment to
ECOLAB® ELADOS SMART TUNNEL DISPENSERS.
The new dispensers will enhance reliability, functionality, and networking capabilities of our
tunnel dispensers to increase accuracy. Each of the dispensers
feature real-time dashboard display to enhance workplace
productivity and is custom designed to customer product
application needs. The smart tunnel dispensers also have the
capacity to dispense up to sixteen chemicals simultaneously to the
tunnel washers. The dispensers will also allow us to rapidly deliver
product and promote quality results of the end-product for our
customers.
We are hoping to
complete the above
modifications over
the course of the
next couple of
weeks.

FDR Celebrates EPIC Long Island Annual Don Luneburg Golf &
Tennis Classic
On July 30, 2018, FDR Services served
as the event sponsor for the EPIC Long
Island Annual Don Luneburg Golf &
Tennis Classic at the Mill River Club in
Upper Brookville. The event featured
an array of activities in addition to a
full day of golf and tennis. The award
ceremony recognized Charlie DeVerna,
a committee member and EPIC Long
Island parent, for his efforts in
furthering EPIC Long Island’s mission.
EPIC Long Island is an organization that provides services to individuals with
epilepsy, developmental disabilities, as well as mental health services. FDR and
EPIC Long Island have a twenty-five year long history of friendship and
collaboration. Don, Keith and Jesse are EPIC Long Island board and committee
members who have committed countless hours and resources to supporting
this amazing cause.
FDR Attends St. Francis Hospital Annual Golf Classic
On June 4, 2018, FDR Services celebrated St. Francis
Hospital’s 44th Annual Golf Classic at The Creek in
Locust Valley, NY. All proceeds from the golf outing
benefit new technologies for cardiac programs at St.
Francis Hospital.
