UST SAYING... Welcome back Dan!
J
email: editor.mag@stmaryredcliffe.co.uk
We say welcome back to Dan after his three-month sabbatical (EMDL)
break. It’s inspiring to read about his work and séjour in the Vicar’s
Letter, his first since Pentecost — in general about the art and practice of
hymnody, and in particular his new hymn “The Light of Christ”.
So a creative and busy space this month what with, also, Home At Last and
Sing Unto the Lord a New Song, the two concerts to be performed in respect
of the end of the 2014–2018 WWI commemorations. Also with Treefest,
this year sponsoring Bridges for Communities; our Education department’s
work over the summer; Doors Open Day; Marcus and Jane Ashman’s charity
initiative. And more — not to mention the exciting Project 450 plans, and
youngsters’ initiatives too.
We’ve a Children’s Page that’ll be there as and when youngsters wish to
use it — and, on a light-hearted note, we’ve some cracking jokes (terrible
pun, sorry) in this issue, so more jokes and brainteasers please! And thank
you to the Sunday School children for this month’s poem in our Poetry
Corner plus also, again, for all the pieces we’ve received to date, including
those poems still to be published — as previously, all
ages please do continue to send in your work.
Finally, we’ve recently been discussing organising
a reader survey (a questionnaire) of the magazine so
that we’ve a better idea of what you would like to see in
‘the Mag’— more on that next month, though as always
please feel free to get in touch with ideas at any time.
— best wishes, Eleanor
