wemind – manage your mental health
and feel stress free
When times get tough and stress builds
up in our hectic lives, we often think
about disappearing off to a tropical
island and leaving our worries and
woes behind. This may sound like a
pipe dream but the development of a
new mental health programme aims to
bring this to reality.
This month World Mental Health Day (10
October) takes place and also sees the
launch of a fun, exciting and pioneering
programme of mental health support which
brings together traditional mental health
services in the form of counselling and
advice with a brand new tropical island app,
which tracks your mental health from your
mobile phone.
Delivered by leading organisations in
mental health provision, Care First and
Kaleidoscope, wemind – our new mental
health programme - brings together all of
the key support mechanisms needed when
people see a decline in their mental health
and aims to give colleagues the tools they
need to track and manage their moods and
mental wellbeing, whilst also only being a
click away from speaking to a counsellor.
Launching the new programme of support,
Director of People and Organisation
Development, Raffaela Goodby spoke to
Heartbeat about the new provisions.
She said: “wemind brings all of our key
mental health services under one banner, so
when someone needs some help they know
exactly where to go, any time of the day or
night.
“Our new ‘Feel Stress Free’ app is key to
our service, it brings in a new element of
proactive mental health management,
where traditionally mental health services
are there in times of crisis, our new app lets
colleagues track their mental health and
wellbeing proactively, so if there is ever a
time when they need support, they have
invaluable information at their fingertips
that might be able to help them.”
Raffaela added: “We also have a new
24/7 counselling service that is entirely
confidential, provided by Care First.
Expert counsellors are on hand to provide
counselling for any issues that are worrying
you, whether that is at home or at work.
They can set up a six week counselling
programme and refer you on if you need
additional support.
“Added to these support services are
the mental health workshops run by
Kaleidoscope who have been providing
workshops on a range of topics for
any colleague to attend. These include
workplace stress management, experiencing
grief and loss and sleep techniques. The
full schedule is on Connect and I would
urge everyone to see what’s on offer and
make time to attend. It may be a colleague,
relative, friend or member of your team
that could need help and by understanding
the issues you can be in a better position to
provide the right support.”
