2018 PLAYOFFS SECOND ROUND REMATCH
FRONTS BATTLE COLTS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2018 PLAYOFFS SERIES
Less than six months ago the Barrie Colts and
Kingston Frontenacs battled for a spot in the
Eastern Conference Final. Barrie jumped out to
a 2-0 series lead before Kingston stormed back
with 4 straight wins to to claim the spot in the
next round. Coming into the game this afternoon,
both teams look a lot different on paper
than they did in that series, but the players that
are still here are ready to go for round two.
Two players that played a huge role in that
series for Kingston were Ryan Cranford and Tyler
Burnie. They were tasked with shutting down
the top line of the Colts which included names
like Luchuk and Svechnikov. Both players are
back this season, but will be looking to add a
little more offense to the Kingston lineup rather
than resuming their shut down role.
The Colts return to Kingston missing their entire
top line from that playoff series with all three
players graduating to professional leagues. Even
with those players gone, the Colts can still score
goals. Ryan Suzuki has had a brilliant start to his
second year in the OHL. He entered play this
weekend with 11 points in just 4 games. Lucas
Chiodo has also stepped it up on the scoresheet
recording 8 points in his first 4 games.
Kingston will get to face Barrie in the loca-
tion they want them. Including the playoff series
from last year, the Frontenacs have won 6 in a
row at the Leon’s Centre over the Colts. October
7th hasn’t been Kingston’s favorite day to play
on. In 17 games played on this date, the franchise
is 6-10-1 all-time, but they have won 4 of
the last 5 at home. KF
