Superintendent News
By Dr. Joseph Beeson
Dear Parents,
I enjoyed participating in our character quality focus chapel today in elementary. I am so pleased when we recognize
what is really important in our students. What we do in 21 st century education should never overshadow
what we also believe is important - Christian character like virtue, integrity, courage, honesty, faithfulness, etc.
- all the things that go into Christian character. If we can graduate students with the skills they need, built upon a
life that pleasesGod, we can consider ourselves successful!
Preschool - 6th Grade Information
By Mrs. Stock
Dear Families,
This week we had the opportunity to celebrate those students who have displayed confidence in the Lord and who
He is, as well as who they are in Him. These chapels bless my heart so much because they highlight what God is
doing in the hearts of students!
We have been privileged to be able to partner with World Vision to sponsor six (6) children from India in grades
2 nd -6 th and in our ISP program. Students can bring in change throughout the school year in an effort to give these
students an education and supply daily essentials. We want students to earn this money and take joy in being
able to serve God and serve others. Remember even a little change can change the world.
Just a few reminder
• Check the lost and found for missing items. Anything unclaimed will be donated at the end of the quarter
• Reminder that October 19 th is a half day. It is also College Wear Day so get decked out in honor of your favorite
team!
• After school will be available that day. Please see Mrs. Stock if you plan to attend
• Tuesday, October 23 rd is picture retake day.
TRAFFIC UPDATE: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5
Starting Tuesday, Kings Church Avenue NW will be closed at Route 619, and Kauffman Avenue NW will be
restricted to right-turns only both entering and exiting.
ODOT’s recommended detour is Lake Center Street to Market Avenue to state Route 619. Those going east on
Route 619 will have to follow the signed detour to Market Avenue N to Andrews Street NW in order to access
Kaufman.
Both roads should reopen completely by the end of November. At that time, the new two-lane roundabouts will
be in use.
The traffic pattern is new to that area but the intersections will be clearly marked, said ODOT Spokesman Justin
Chesnic.
Attention! Chess Club Leader Needed
A passionate faculty member or parent who loves chess and is willing to pass on their excitement.
Lake Center is in need of a new chess coach. The chess coach position will entail
a little over an hour a week investment.
During this hour the Chess coach will teach and guide students to become more thoughtful
players. However, f you choose to, there are four tournaments sponsored by Canton
Scholastic chess during the school year with numerous trophies and awards available.
These are generally from 8-4 on Saturday. Again, if you choose, there is also an all Ohio Tournament. If interested
please contact Principal Dannon Stock.
The Choir, Band, and Orchestra students saw
Newsies on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Titus
Mock was called on stage and received a Newsie’s
Hat! Here is the cast photo from their field trip.
LCCS will have with India this year. There will
be a variety of opportunities this year to learn more
about the people of India, as we sponsor children and
have a better understanding of how we can share God’s
love across the world.
Don’t forget to be looking for ways to stuff those shoeboxes over the next few weeks. This
is another great way to share God’s love and the message of Christmas with people around
the globe. The boxes are due in November so that they may make it to the recipients in
time for the holiday. Click on the link to find suggestions on how to fill your box. https://
fall sport athletes, coaches and immediate family-members are invited to attend as we recognize the com
mitment of each of our programs and enjoy a catered meal provided by the LCCS Athletic Booster Club.
VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER
After experiencing a heart-wrenching, last-second defeat to Alliance in their last game, the Lady Tigers
showed resiliency and great determination by bouncing back to defeat St. Thomas Aquinas, 2-1, in a great
match under the lights. Elise Gambol and Kaydri Sommers led the offensive attack by scoring a goal
a piece. The team has gone 4-3 since their 0-6 start to the season, catching fire heading into postseason
play.
• Week Results: St. Thomas Aquinas Knights (W, 2-1)
VARSITY BOYS SOCCER
Due to a cancellation early in the week, the Tigers only had one match against the always-competitive
Central Christian Comets. The Tigers came up short against the Comets, losing the contest, 7-1. Joel
Meyer scored the Tigers’ only goal on the day.
• Week Results: Central Christian Comets (L, 1-7)
VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY
The Tigers competed in the annual Tuslaw Invitational at Clay’s Park this past weekend. In what has prov
en to be a difficult course, our Tiger-runners should grit by posting some very good times. Eliz Slabaugh
finished 7th overall against a strong field.
Tuslaw Invitational Results: https://www.baumspage.com/cc/tuslaw/2018/
VARSITY VOLLEYBALL
The Lady Tigers had a busy week as they played four matches overall. Unfortunately, the team lost to
Manchester and PTC-leading Crestwood in straight sets. A victory over Valley Christian and an exciting
match against Central Christian proved to be the highlights of the week. The Central matchup was part of
the Volley for Kenna Event held and organized by the volleyball program. The game was played in honor
of the late Makenna Karmie who passed away unexpectedly last summer.
• Week Results: Rittman Indians (L, 0-3), Valley Christian Eagles (W, 3-0), Crestwood Red Devils
(L, 0-3), Central Christian Comets (L, 1-3)
