14 | October 11, 2018 | The orland park prairie news opprairie.com Police Reports Police: Woman who tried to pass fake check had photocopied IDs in vehicle Darlene King, 45, of 16454 Wood St. in Markham, was charged Sept. 1 with felony identity theft, as well as driving while license suspended, obstructing identification and two taillights required after she allegedly tried to buy merchandise from a grocery store in the 9300 block of 159th Street with a fake check. She tried to buy merchandise valued at $410, with $100 of that being a gift card, which the store does not sell with checks, police said. She reportedly removed the gift card and tried again with a check with a redacted name on it and an ID, but it was noticed that some of the bank numbers were scratched out and the check was not accepted, according to the report. King reportedly was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Impala northbound on 94th Avenue from the scene before it was stopped near 151st Street and Ravinia Avenue. Inside the vehicle, police found photocopy paper ID cards made from temporary ID cards belonging to a woman whose name was redacted, according to the report. The name was cut off copies of the check in the vehicle, applied to ID cards and photocopied again to appear realistic, police said. There also reportedly were 10 copies of a single check, nine of them with the name cut off and the same bank account number. A bag containing ID cards with redacted name(s), photocopies of paper ID cards with redacted information and 12 checks belonging to a redacted name, from two different banks, was found, along with a photocopies of fake IDs with different names on them, checks belonging to others and a wig worn during the transaction, police said. King did not have permission to use someone’s personal information, police said. That person noted someone came to the house to sell cleaning supplies, and a checkbook went missing, according to the report. Aug. 29 • Anais Ortiz, 31, of 1212 Cicero Ave. in Cicero, was charged with felony retail theft and obstructing identification after she allegedly tried to take merchandise valued at a total of $1,453.93 from a grocery store in the 9300 block of 159th Street. She reportedly concealed the items in bags and a purse, and left without paying for them. When she was stopped, she gave an alias name and date of birth redacted in the report, police said. Some merchandise was dropped by the exit and some was found in her purse, according to the report. • Kayla J. Smith, 20, of 310 Highland Road in Matteson, was charged with theft after she allegedly took $680 from a department store at Orland Square while working there. Someone noticed a cash shortage from a drop she counted and bagged on Aug. 17, police said. Smith reportedly was caught on video on Aug. 17, 24 and 25 putting cash in plastic bags, not sealing them according to company policy, going to the stock room and dropping the cash. It was short on all three occasions, according to the report. Aug. 26 • Whittney T. Danner, 32, of 1820 N. Natchez St. in Chicago, was charged with battery and criminal damage to property after she allegedly damaged a cellphone outside of a business on Orland Square Drive. She reportedly called for a ride, got into the vehicle with her boyfriend and children, and was told there were too many people for the driver to accommodate with the vehicle. During an argument that led to everyone being asked by the driver to exit the vehicle, she grabbed a phone from a dash-mounted holder and threw it onto the ground, police said. She allegedly then body checked the driver, a 30-year-old male, when he went to pick it up. The vehicle was a 2008 Honda Accord and the phone was valued at $300, according to the report. • Tabriana McNeal, 18, of 161 119th St. in Chicago, was charged with retail theft less than $300, battery and obstructing identification after she allegedly tried to take three clothing items valued at a total of $31.97 from a store on Orland Park Place. She put the items in her purse, pushed a loss prevention officer and fled the store on foot southbound on 94th Avenue, according to the report. She allegedly provided a name redacted from the report upon her arrest. Aug. 25 • Henry T. Pacer, 25, of 11729 83rd Ave. in Palos Park, and Gregory G. Vik, 47, of 12741 S. Westgate Drive in Palos Heights, each were charged with one count apiece of retail theft and unlawful possession of a controlled substance after they allegedly tried to take over-thecounter medications valued at a total of $701 from a pharmacy in the 11200 block of 143rd Street. The both grabbed items from the store, loaded them in the trunk of a 1998 pickup truck, went back into the store, took more items and loaded them in the trunk again, police said. Police found a package of alli, three packages of Prilosec, two packages of Viviscal, two packages of Prevacid, a package of Nexium, two packages of Align and six packages of Claritin inside of the vehicle, according to the report. Police also reportedly found inside the vehicle a foil packet containing a substance suspected to be heroin on the front, passenger’s-side floorboard, as well as a bag containing syringes and a mint tin with residue consistent with heroin in the center console. Pacer was driving the vehicle when it was stopped, police said. Vik also reportedly had something in his wallet that was redacted from the report. Aug. 23 • Nathanial D. Argue, 23, of 9320 Hunter Drive in Orland Hills, was charged with retail theft-alter, transfer or removes and label price tag, marking, a Class 4 felony, while Radi A. Abdallah, 21, of 9218 Hunter Drive in Orland Hills, was charged with retail theft-under-rings with intent to defraud merchant of full retail value, a Class 4 felony, after they allegedly worked together to take items on several occasions from a store in the 15800 block of LaGrange Road where Abdallah worked. On July 30, the two reportedly were seen on video selecting a smart watch valued at $429.99 and another valued at $299.99. Argue allegedly left without paying for the items. Then, on Aug. 1, they were seen on video selecting a router valued at $79.99, a cellphone valued at $79.99 and another valued at $59.99, police said. Abdallah scanned a UPC sticker four times for another item valued at $.79 instead of the items, and then Argue left with the items, according to the report. On Aug. 10, they reportedly selected a monitor valued at $159.99, a tablet valued at $79.99 and a smart watch valued at $179.99. Abdallah three times scanned a UPC for an item valued at $.75, and Argue left with the items, police said. On Aug. 15, they allegedly selected a two video game controllers valued at $59.99 each, as well as four video games valued at $59.99 apiece. Abdallah scanned a UPC for an item valued at $.79, and Argue left with the items, according to the report. Abdallah reportedly was arrested at the store. Argue was identified through a Secretary of State image and arrested at his residence, where he was wearing the same clothing as seen in one of the videos from the store, police said. Aug. 22 • Michael T. Vital, 21, of 10853 Whipple St. in Chicago, was charged with retail theft after he allegedly tried to take video games from a store where he worked in the 15600 block of 94th Avenue. He took them from a pile, concealed them in a box, put the box in the garbage and later moved it to a vehicle, police said. The games were valued at $300, according to the report.
