28 | October 11, 2018 | The orland park prairie life & Arts opprairie.com Arts and Drafts officials brew up a fun event MARY COMPTON Freelance Reporter The cooler weather on Saturday, Sept. 29, kept some of local residents from attending the second Arts and Drafts event. Held at Orland Crossings parking lot, the event was hosted by Orland Crossings and the Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce plus a partnership with the Village of Orland Park. Small seating areas and stand up tables were friends and families that got together to share conversations along with new beer tastings featuring flavors never even heard of in past years. Hailstorm brewery was one of those, serving a popular flavor, the Awesome Brownie. “One of the most popular brews for the day tasted like a chocolate brownie,” said Josh Wabiszczewicz a resident of Orland Park and owner/manager of Hailstorm in Tinley Park. Paula Dziallo from Orland Park and her son Ian, they enjoy attending beer festivals. “Today is my first time attending this event in Orland Park,” Paula said. “ I’m enjoying Thwack beer from Illuminated Brew Works. It’s a perky beer double IPA which is made out of grapes.” Kurt Lindemann of Oak Lawn and Kyle Treglown helped plan the event and were happy with the results. “I’m a board member on the Orland Park chamber, I’m also a beer guy,” Lindemann. “We were asked last year to organize a new concept to introduce a new element to the fine art fair. We both enjoy craft beers, so we decided what better way to introduce something like this into the community. We have more breweries, more art and a headlining band trippin billies. It’s the first time for a headliner band.” While Lindemann spoke, several breweries were showcasing their brews. Participating Breweries included; Hailstorm Brewing, SoundGrowler Brewing, 350 Brewing, One Trick Pony, Open Outcry, Argus, Noon Whistle, Arrowhead, Pipeworks, Will County Brewing and Virtue Cider. We’re lucky to live here while this is happening,” Lindemann said. “There hasn’t been anything like this in Orland Park. Mixing art with beer is a great concept.” Another chamber member that helped with the event was Adam Czerwinski. He is a resident of Orland Park is also the owner of Sidebar Insurance agency in Orland Park. “Last year I was involved in this event by bringing marketing in” Czerwinski said. “This year we increased the artists and the bands. We’re excited with the results this year. Everything I’ve tried have been fantastic with all these new beer varieties.
