Thank You from Puerto Rico to Our <strong>AWC</strong><br />

The Puerto Rican town of Comerío<br />

has been adopted by the Puerto Rican<br />

Agenda, and is the recipient of the<br />

Club’s contribution of $ 4,160. The donation<br />

is being used to help in the Rescue, Relief,<br />

and Rebuild efforts that are taking place in<br />

Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane<br />

Maria, which is still reeling from the storm’s<br />

devastating effects more than one year later.<br />

(D-IL.). His parents were both born in Puerto<br />

Rico and I knew he was deeply involved in<br />

the recovery efforts. His aides referred me to<br />

the Puerto Rican Agenda of Chicago. I visited<br />

their humble offices and spoke with Professor<br />

José Lopez, their senior advisor. After I spoke<br />

with him and met other caring, committed<br />

people, I was convinced we were in the right<br />

place. Our <strong>AWC</strong> did what it has always done;<br />

helped people in need. Puerto Rico is not an<br />

ocean away to us, it is part of who we are.<br />

Our efforts to help Puerto Rico began immediately<br />

after the hurricane struck and the<br />

2017-<strong>2018</strong> <strong>AWC</strong> Board agreed to help! I was<br />

not surprised, just very moved. To find out<br />

where and how we could help, I called the<br />
