CONSTITUENCY 5

DENNIS STREET UPGRADE
This project was undertaken in 2017 in Constituency 5 by the Government of Guyana as
part of the City of Georgetown capital works plan. Engagement of the Constituency 5
Office was critical as the contractors and work supervisors required community compliance
for making the work expedient. Many resident from the constituency and beyond continue
to benefit from this project within the constituency as the thoroughfare is critical for persons
seeking connecting access to the east coast corridor and to other major places in the
constituency especially the institutions and shopping areas. This project resulted in the accommodating
connection for the commuters from the East and West Bank of the Demerara
getting easy access to the East coast communities and further afield.

Literacy Project Rotoract
The Rotoract Club of Georgetown engaged
the Constituency Office and was able to
gain access to one of the public spaces in
a centrally located community to roll out
a literacy programme for student between
the ages of 6 and 11 from within the constituency.
This programme hosted the first
Spelling Bee Competition held in Constituency
5 in 2017.
Dental Clinic & Centre Upgrade
Through engagements between Rotary
Club Georgetown Central a new concrete
bridge was constructed at the Pattensen
Community Centre. This bridge is part of
an ongoing project which will result in the
upgrade and continues dental service to
community and schools in the constituency
and also the back filling of the grounds
and a “kiddie’s park” development at the
community centre
