Sheboygan County residents
enjoy quality education in grades K-12
and beyond. There are nine public school
districts in the county, all of which have high
schools, middle schools and elementary
schools; Plymouth, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah,
Sheboygan Falls, Kohler, Howards Grove,
Random Lake, Cedar Grove-Belgium,
Oostburg, and Sheboygan. According to
the Wisconsin Knowledge & Concepts
Examination (WKCE), Sheboygan County’s
students well exceed state averages
for students receiving “advanced” and
social studies, science and language
arts. Additionally, Wisconsin students
are graduating from high school at the
highest rates in the nation.
Sheboygan Area School District
With 26 schools and an enrollment
of more than 10,000 students, the
Sheboygan Area School District is the
largest in the county. It offers a wide variety
of educational opportunities ranging from
4K to college courses. Seventy percent of
teachers hold a master’s degree or higher.
The school district is a 10-time
winner of the “What Parents Want Award”
for the qualities parents most look for in
a school system. Additionally, the district
has also consistently been ranked highly
in the nation by Expansion Management
magazine, a monthly business magazine
for executives of companies actively
looking for a place to expand or relocate.
Charter Schools
Driven by community demand,
the district has developed a variety of
specialized charter schools and unique
programs to meet the diverse learning
needs of children in our community. Charter
schools are independent public schools that
focus on personalized learning based on a
child’s interest, ability and learning style.
Home School
Sheboygan County has a strong
home school support network and there
are several state-wide organizations available
to assist home school families, and many
schools throughout Sheboygan County offer
extracurricular opportunities to home school
students such as sports, drama and music.
