director of Ohio’s ProMusica and chief<br />
conductor of the Zagreb Philharmonic<br />
Orchestra in Croatia, is regarded as one of<br />
the most talented European conductors of<br />
his generation. The program includes Ligeti’s<br />
Violin Concerto, Korngold’s “Straussiana”<br />
and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral.”<br />
The concert repeats at 7 p.m. Nov. 18 at<br />

Enchanted Forest of Light attraction opens<br />
just in time for the holidays. The familyfriendly<br />
light show illuminates a gentle<br />
one-mile hike through Descanso, accented<br />
by large-scale displays by professional<br />
lighting artists, many of them interactive.<br />
Lightwave Lake is installed at Descanso<br />
Lake, and the popular Aqueous features a<br />
flowing and glowing, interactive landscape<br />
of meandering pathways. Hours are 5:30 to<br />
10 p.m. daily (except Nov. 22 and Dec. 24<br />
and 25) through Jan. 6. Tickets cost $28 to<br />

by renowned pianist Gloria Cheng, titled<br />
“Garlands for Steven Stucky,” a tribute to<br />
the late composer, who died in 2016. The<br />
tribute concert features 32 works written by<br />
other composers in his memory. Cheng is<br />
joined by mezzo-soprano Peabody Southwell<br />
and oboist Carolyn Hove. The concert<br />
takes place at the Colburn School’s Zipper<br />
Hall in downtown Los Angeles. Tickets cost<br />
