It was not that Martin Luther
was attempting to launch a
Reformation. He was seeking
What Would Martin Luther Say To Us Today?
first the Kingdom of God and
His righteousness. It was Martin
Luther’s desperate quest for peace
with God that led him to study
the Scriptures intently. He was
overwhelmed by the holiness of
God and the depravity of man. He
agonised over his own sin.
Eternally Important Questions
How can a just and holy creator
God, the eternal Judge, allow
sinful, selfish, depraved people like
you and I into His Heaven?
How can wicked and worthless
people escape the wrath of God in
the lake of fire for all eternity?
What must we do to be saved?
What can we do to be saved?
Is there any hope at all for lost men
and women like you and I?
God’s Standard is Perfection
“Be perfect, even as your Father
in Heaven is perfect.” “Be holy,
as I am holy.” We are obligated to
love God wholeheartedly and our

of us can ever say that we have
attained such holiness, or spiritual
perfection?
Trying to Earn Salvation
Out of great concern for his eternal
salvation, Martin Luther had
sought to flee from the world and
bury himself in the Augustinian
cloister, devoting himself to a life
of the strictest asceticism. Yet,
despite devoting himself to earning
salvation by good works, cheerfully
performing the humblest of
tasks, praying, fasting, chastising
himself, even beyond the strictest
monastic rules, Martin Luther was
still oppressed with a terrible sense
of his utter sinfulness and lost
condition.

studies, including Hebrew, Greek
and the Scriptures, to become a
university lecturer for the order.
Martin Luther was ordained a
priest in 1507 and studied and
taught at the Universities of
Wittenberg and Erfurt.
Defend the Scriptures
In 1512, Martin Luther received
his Doctoral degree and took
the traditional vow on becoming
a Professor at Wittenberg
University, to teach and defend
the Scriptures faithfully. This vow
would be a tremendous source
of encouragement to him later.
Professor Luther never viewed
himself as a rebel, but rather as a
Theologian seeking to be faithful
to the vow required of him to teach
and defend the Holy Scripture.
Studying the Scriptures
Martin Luther committed most of
the New Testament, much of the Old
Testament and all of the Psalms to
memory. From 1513 to 1517, Martin
Luther lectured at the University
of Wittenberg on the Psalms,
Galatians and Romans. Being a
University Professor was a full
time job. However, Martin Luther
also had other responsibilities as
well. He was the Supervisor for 11
Augustinian monasteries, including
the one at Wittenberg. He was also
responsible for preaching regularly
at the Monastery Chapel, the Town
Church (Stadtkirche) and at the
Castle Church (the Schlosskirche).
It was the combination of Martin
Luther’s Theological and pastoral
concerns that led him to take the
actions that sparked the Protestant
Reformation.
Worship, Faith and Salvation
In the Psalms, he discovered what
real worship was all about. In
Galatians, he discovered what
Biblical Faith was. In the Book of
Romans, he discovered God’s way
of Salvation through the doctrine
of Justification based upon the
finished work of Christ on the
Cross of Calvary.
The Just Shall Live by Faith
It was in 1512, as he began
to study Paul’s Epistle to the
Romans, that the verse: “For in
it the righteousness of God is
revealed from faith to faith; as
it is written, ‘The just shall live
by faith.’” Romans 1:17. Martin
Luther testified that as he began to
understand that the righteousness
of God is a free gift of God’s grace,
by which we may live by faith, “I
felt entirely born again and was led
through open gates into paradise
itself. Suddenly the whole of Scripture
had a different appearance to me. I
recounted the passages which I had
memorised and realised that other
passages, too, showed that the work
of God is what God works in us… thus
St. Paul’s words that ‘The Just shall
live by faith’, did indeed become to
me the gateway to paradise.”
Born Again
The burden of his sin rolled away.
Up until then, Martin Luther had
tried to earn salvation by his good
works. Although he had never had
been able to do enough. Now God
had spoken to him through the
Scripture.
Solas Shattered the Darkness
Man is not saved by works, but by
the Grace of God alone, received
by Faith alone. Christ alone is
the Head of the Church. Salvation
is by atonement of Christ’s Blood
shed upon the Cross of Calvary.
Scripture alone is our ultimate
authority. Everything must be
done to the Glory of God alone.
Defend Scripture
As a doctor, Professor Martin
Luther had taken an oath to serve
the Church of Christ faithfully by
the study and teaching of Holy
Scripture. At the university, he
was responsible to prepare pastors
for the ministry. Now, having
experienced God’s grace in Christ,
studying the Word of God, Martin
Luther began to see the emptiness,
self-absorption, pious pretence
and superstitious unbelief of his
previous religious devotion. He
could not fail to recognise the same
pious fraud and pharasiacal futility
all around him.
Pilgrimage to Rome
In 1510, before being made a
professor at Wittenberg University,
Martin Luther had been sent to
Rome for his monastic order. He had
walked across Germany and the Alps
into Italy and what he had seen in
Rome had shocked and disillusioned
him. The blatant immorality and
degeneracy prevalent in Rome
was outrageous and scandalous.
“Everything is permitted in Rome,
except to be an honest man!”

family, employed artist Raphael
and sculptor Michelangelo to
decorate the Vatican. To pay for
the building of St. Peter’s Basilica
in Rome, bishop Albert of Mainz
(who was too young by church
laws for such a position) was
actually overseer of 2 bishoprics,
(also against Church laws), bishop
Albert was granted a special papal
dispensation from Leo X to sell
plenary indulgences, to cover
past, present and future sins. The
indulgence industry had become a
tremendous source of income for
the Papacy.
Indulgence Sales Industry
It was on this papal fundraising
campaign that Dominican
Monk and indulgence salesman
extraordinary Johan Tetzel,
arrived in Saxony. The shameless
and scandalous manner in which
Tetzel hawked the indulgences
outraged Professor Luther. Sales
lingo such as: “As soon as the coin
clicks in the chest, a soul flies up
to Heavenly rest,” were deceiving
gullible people about their
eternal souls.
Salvation Cannot Be Bought
Dr. Luther’s study of the Scriptures
had convinced him that Salvation
comes by the grace of God alone.
Salvation is based upon the Blood
Atonement of Christ Jesus and the
Cross of Calvary alone. Received
by Faith alone. Indulgences could
not remove any guilt. It could only
induce a false sense of security.
People were being deceived for
eternity. Souls were at stake.
The truth of Scripture was being
twisted and ignored. The honour
of God was being tarnished. He
needed to make a stand for truth
and fight the good fight of faith.
Concerns that had been growing
steadily since his pilgrimage to
Rome in 1510, now led Professor
Martin Luther to make a public,
formal objection to the abuses of
indulgences.
Protest Against Indulgences
On All Saints Day, 1 November,
people would be coming from
far and wide in order to view
in reverence the more than five
thousand relics exhibited in the
Schlosskirche. Therefore, on 31
October 1517, Professor Martin
Luther nailed his 95 arguments
against indulgences onto the door
of the Castle Church. He also posted
a copy to the archbishop of Mainz.
A Drop of Ink Can Make a
Million Think
These 95 Theses were intended
to spark a debate and stir soulsearching
amongst church
members. However, Martin Luther
could never had anticipated the
far-reaching repercussions of this
bold stand. When he took quill in
hand and dipped it in his inkwell,
he had no idea how this drop of ink
would make many millions think.
True Treasure
“The Church’s true treasure is the
Gospel of Jesus Christ.” The Roman
Catholic papacy had devalued the
Gospel and neglected the Word
of God, building a massive jungle
of superstitious tradition and
pharasiacal fraud with empty
religious rituals.
Repentance
The 95 Theses begins with these
words: “Since our Lord and Master,
Jesus Christ, says Repent for the
Kingdom of Heaven is near, he wants
the whole life of a believer to be a
life of repentance.” No sacrament
can take away our responsibility
to respond to Christ’s command
by a repentance evidenced by an
outward change, a transformation
and renewal of our entire life.
God alone can forgive sins.
Indulgences are a fraud. It would
be far better to give to the poor
than to waste ones money on
indulgences. If the pope really has
power over the souls suffering
in purgatory, why does he not
release them out of pure Christian
charity? The entire Roman
Catholic sacramental system was a
distraction and a deception.
The Power of Printing
The 95 Theses created such a
sensation that within two weeks
they had been printed and read
throughout Germany. Within the
month, translations were being
printed and sold all over Europe.
A copy even reached the pope. The
Printing Press played a key role
in mobilising the Reformation. In
1517, there were about 24 printing
centres in Europe. Soon Martin
Luther’s works dominated the
market and were far and away the
most popular.
Scripture Alone
Professor Martin Luther could be
described as a pastor, preacher,
professor, teacher, Theologian,
composer and Reformer. But
perhaps his greatest achievement
was the translation of the Bible
into German. When his New
Testament in German was
published in September 1522, it
created a sensation. 5,000 copies
were sold in the first 2 months
alone. It was the first time a
mass medium had ever impacted
everyday life and it was affordable
– even to the poor. For but a week’s
wages, one could obtain the New
Testament. Almost everyone in
Germany, either read Luther’s
translation, or listened to it
being read. Martin Luther’s Bible
translation inspired and guided
similar translations of the Bible
into local languages in Holland,
Sweden, Iceland, Denmark and
England. One of the many ways
Martin Luther left his mark, was
the order in which he placed the
Books of the Bible, to which we
adhere to this day. Before Martin
Luther there had been no uniform
arrangement. Luther’s translation
particularly guided William
Tyndale in his translation of the
Bible into English.

Journalism
Martin Luther has sometimes been
described as “the world’s first great
journalist.” His writings succeeded
in changing history. He wrote in
the common language, instead
of in the scholarly Latin – which
was only understood by a small,
educated elite of society. Secondly,
Martin Luther mastered the use of
the broadside pamphlet – which
were cheap to print and easy to
read. Luther made the message fit
the medium, maximizing the pages
run through the printing press.
Thirdly, he made use of some of
the finest illustrations or woodcuts
of the times, to make his message
understood even unto the semiilliterate.
Martin Luther showed
the way and other Reformers
continued his work of using print
technology to mass-produce
Scripture and Reformation
publications. Indeed, by the end
of his ministry on earth, Martin
Luther had written over 60,000
pages of printed works, more than
400 titles, including commentaries,
sermons and pamphlets, which
attacked Catholic superstitions
and abuses and which promoted
Biblical doctrines.
The Reformer’s Friend
As the first exhibit in the Geneva
Reformation Museum declares: “The
Printing Press – The Reformers
Friend, the tyrant’s foe!” By God’s
grace the Printing Press provided the
spiritual weapon needed to make the
Reformation succeed.
The Ongoing Reformation
Ecclesia Reformata Semper
Reformanda Est (The Church having
been Reformed should always
be Reformed). Professor Martin
Luther quoted the church Father,
St. Augustine, in Latin, Ecclesia
Semper Reformanda Est. The church
must continually re-examine itself
in order to maintain its purity of
doctrine and practise. So, let us ask:
If Professor Martin Luther was here
with us today, what would he say to
us? Well, you do not need to guess,
we have his writings here with us.
What Did Martin Luther Say:
Fear God. Do not fear man. The
fear of man will prove to be a
snare. Study the Bible. Have your
conscience captive to the Word of
God. Popes and councils have often
erred and contradicted themselves.
Your conscience must be captive to
the Word of God. It is unsafe and
dangerous to do anything against
your conscience. Stand on the
unchangeable Word of Almighty
God. Pray the Psalms.
Pray Early and Often
To be a Christian without prayer is
no more possible than to be alive
without breathing. Prayer is a strong
wall and fortress of the church. It is
a goodly Christian weapon.
Sing to the Glory of God
Next to the Word of God the noble
art of music is the greatest treasure
in the world. Beautiful music is the
art of the prophets that can calm
the agitations of the soul. It is one of
the most magnificent and delightful
presents God has ever given us.
Live in the Light of Eternity
Our Lord has written the promise
of Resurrection, not in books alone,
but in every leaf in springtime. For
in the true nature of things, if we
rightly consider, every green tree
is far more glorious than if it was
made of gold and silver.
Trust in God Wholeheartedly
Faith is a living, daring confidence
in God’s grace, so sure and certain
that a man could stake his life on it

Bible-based Education
I am much afraid that schools will
prove to be wide gates to hell unless
they diligently labour in explaining
the Holy Scriptures, engraving
them on the hearts of the youth.
I advise no one to place his child
where the Scriptures do not reign
paramount. Every institution in
which men are not constantly
occupied with the Word of God,
must become corrupt.
Where the Battle Rages
If I profess with the loudest voice
and clearest exposition, every
portion of the truth God’s Word,
except precisely that point which
the world and the devil are at that
moment attacking, then I am not
confessing Christ, however boldly
I may be professing Him. Where
the battle rages, there the loyalty
of the soldier is proved; and to
be steady on all the battlefront
besides is mere flight and disgrace
if he flinches at that point.
Deception and Distraction
For where God builds a church,
there the devil would also build a
counterfeit.
Stand Valiantly for Truth
I am not bound by the opinions of
men. Peace if possible. Truth at
all costs. A simple layman, armed
with Scripture, is greater than the
mightiest pope without it. God will
pave the streets of hell with the skulls
of apostate bishops and cardinals.
Short Prayers from the Heart
Grant that I may not pray alone
with the mouth. Help me that I may
pray from the depths of my heart.
The fewer the words, the better the
prayer. God does not need your
good works, but your neighbour
does. Pray like it all depends on
God. Then when you are done, go
work like it all depends on you. We
are saved by faith alone, but the
faith that saves is never alone. The
less I pray the harder it gets. The
more I pray, the better it goes.
Enjoy God-Honouring Music
Music is the art of the prophets
and the gift of God. As long as
we live there is never enough
singing. My heart, which is so full
to overflowing, has often been
solaced and refreshed by music
when sick and weary.
Deny Self – Take Up Your Cross
I am more afraid of my own heart
than of the pope and all his cardinals.
I have within me the great pope,
Self. Beware of selfishness. God
created the world out of nothing
and so long as we are nothing, He
can make something out of us.
When satan tells me I am a sinner,
he comforts me immensely, since
Christ died for sinners. A Christian
is never in a state of completion, but
always in the process of becoming.

Love is Measured by Sacrifice
A religion that gives nothing, costs
nothing and suffers nothing, is
worth nothing. Show me where a
man spends his time and money
and I will show which god he really
worships.
Plant Trees
Even if I knew that tomorrow the
world would go to pieces, I would
still plant an apple tree today.
Be Teachable
The world does not want to be
corrected. It wants to remain in
darkness. It does not want to be told
that what it believes is false. If you
also do not want to be corrected,
then you might as well leave the
church and spend your time at the
bar and brothel. But if you want
to be saved and remember there
is another life after this one – you
must accept correction.
Thirst for the Living Water of
Christ
The Bible is a remarkable fountain.
The more one draws and drinks of
it, the more it stimulates thirst.
The Bible is alive, it speaks to me.
It has feet, it runs after me. It has
hands, it lays hold of me. The Word
of God is greater than Heaven and
earth, yes, greater than death and
hell, for it forms part of the power
of God and endures everlastingly.
The Sins of Your Society
A Gospel that does not deal with
the issues of the day is not the
Gospel at all. You are not only
responsible for what you say,
but also for what you do not say.
Stand up for the truth. Speak out
for God. Fight the good fight of
Faith. Always preach in such a
way that if the people listening
to you do not come to hate their
sin, they will instead hate you. A
lie is like a snowball: the further
you roll it the bigger it becomes.
They gave our Master a Crown
of thorns. Why do you hope
for a crown of roses? A simple
man with Scripture has more
authority than pope or council.
Unthankfulness is theft. Give the
Law to the proud and the Gospel
to the broken-hearted.
Marry Wisely
It is impossible for a young man
to remain single without sin.
Marriage is the true school of
character. You can learn more in
one year of marriage than you could
in 10 years in college. There is no
more lovely, friendly and charming
relationship, communion or
company, than a good marriage.
Faith is Not Feelings
Feelings come and feelings go.
Feelings are deceptive. My warrant
is the Word of God. Naught else
is worth believing. There is one
greater than my heart whose Word
cannot be broken. I will trust in
God’s unchanging Word till body
and soul sever. For although all
things shall pass away, His Word will
stand forever! We do not become
righteous by doing righteous deeds,
but having been made righteous,
will do righteous deeds.
Christian Character
The prosperity of our country
depends not upon the abundance
of its revenues, nor on the
strength of its fortifications,
not on the beauty of its public
buildings, but it consists in the
number of its cultivated citizens,
in its people of education,
enlightenment and character.
Nothing is more beautiful in the
eyes of God than a soul who loves
to hear His Word.
Lordship of Christ to All Areas
God’s thoughts are higher than our
thoughts. His ways are higher than
our ways.
The Reformation set about to
restore Biblical principles to all
areas of life.
This is God’s world and we need
God’s Word to be obeyed in every
area of life.
Is your conscience captive to the
Word of God?
Is your desire to obey God promptly
and sincerely, with your whole
heart, aflame in the Hand of God?
We need doctrinal steel in our
backbones and Holy Spirit fire in
our hearts.
May God fill us and empower us with
His Holy Spirit to be faithful to His
Word, the Bible and effective in His
service, seeking first the Kingdom of
God, making disciples of all nations,
teaching obedience to all things that
the Lord has commanded.
May the examples of the Reformers
inspire us to go back to the Bible,
to love God wholeheartedly, to
fear God alone, to work for Biblical
Reformation and to pray for spiritual
Revival in our hearts and homes, in
our congregations and communities,
in our country and continent.
May God find us faithful to His
Word and effective in His service as
we work for Biblical Reformation
and pray for spiritual Revival.

the average amount of time, a child will spend in school.
Who are we giving this time to? Who are we allowing to
shape the minds of our children? And whose interests
do they have at heart? The Bible clearly states that a
child’s education is the responsibility of the parents.
Why are we giving this responsibility away? Because
the state can do a better job? Because we feel we aren’t
competent? Because the responsibility is too much
pressure? Because we’re too lazy? Because it’s the
status quo? None of these are good enough reasons
to let someone else influence the development of your
child’s precious mind. Proverbs 22:6 clearly states that
how a child’s mind is shaped in his youth, determines
his behavior and ideologies in his future: “Train up a
child in the way he should go; even when he is old he
will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Education vs Indoctrination
Let us start by looking at the difference between
education and indoctrination:
Education is the process of equipping students with
the necessary skills, values and beliefs in order to
acquire knowledge; whereas indoctrination, according
to the Oxford Dictionary, is “teaching a person or group
of people to accept a set of beliefs uncritically.”
African American writer, Dick Gregory, puts it quite
simply, “Education means to bring out wisdom,
indoctrination means to push in knowledge.” This is
distinctly accurate, as teaching students how to learn,
so that as they get older they can critically analyse
every bit of information given to them, whether from
a teacher, a parent, a politician, or a priest, a child will
have had a thorough and valuable education and will
be able to continue to learn and grow for the remainder
of his/her life. Whereas, in contrast, teaching them
what to think limits the learning and therefore
confines and restricts the child – the exact opposite
of the intended growth, blooming and flourishing of
true learning. The problem with modern “education”,
and I use the term loosely, is that it is creating people
intelligent enough to repeat what they’re told and to
follow orders, dumb enough to think this makes them
intelligent, and blind enough not to question it.
Shaping the Minds of Future Thinkers
BBC News reported that children aged 5 to 16 spend an
average of 6 hours a day in front of electronic screens
– either TV, gaming, cell phones, tablets or computers.
All these hours of screen time, being influenced by
Hollywood and unachievable worldly ideals, coupled with
all the hours of school and being inveigled by a pawn in
a government sponsored system, how much time do you
as a parent have to actually raise your child with morals
and values that are in line with what you believe to be
right? As clear-minded, responsible parents who love
their children, we need to be very cautious and think
very carefully before we give this essential responsibility
and privilege to people who not only don’t truly know
and care for our children and their future, like you do as
the parent, but also simply are using a child as a means
for socially engineering their personal progress and
benefits, regardless of the detrimental effects it may
have on the child and even society as a whole.
Jesus clearly states that the Greatest Commandment
is to love the Lord with our whole heart, and soul and
mind. We often try to protect the hearts and souls of
our children, yet too often, we so swiftly and willingly
throw their minds, and our own for that matter, to
the world to have and do with as it pleases. This is so
dangerous as at the end of the day, it is in our mind that
our thoughts and feelings originate, which influences
our actions and the way we will then later protect our
own hearts and souls. So once the world has control of
our minds, we are impressionable and therefore more
useful to them than if we were strong, independent
individuals rooted in the truths of the Bible - that are
clearly the antithesis of what the world teaches. This
is why Marxist leaders throughout time have targeted
the youth. We need to be informed, we need to know
the truth. Unfortunately, ignorance isn’t bliss, it’s just
ignorant. It is time we start taking a stand for our
children, time we start protecting our youth, and time
we resist the agenda of these Marxist-Communists.
Origin of State “Education”
Karl Marx said in the Communist Manifesto, “The
education of all children from the moment that they can get
along without a mother’s care, shall be in state institutions
at state expense.” Did he say this out of the goodness
of his heart because he wanted every child to receive a
good education and he was willing to ensure this, even
at the expense of the state or himself? NO! Three of
Marx’s own children died of starvation, two committed
suicide, and another child conceived with his maid was
sent away and never supported financially! Children’s
wellbeing was definitely not his priority! It was his
own selfish gain and communist agendas that needed
children to be brainwashed in order for anyone
to actually believe that communism could work.
Communism is called a dream of a communal utopia,
because you have to be asleep to believe it. John D.
Rockefeller said, “I don’t want a nation of thinkers, I
want a nation of workers.” Therefore they needed to
hijack the system and institutions where children are

taught to think, and then limit that process. They don’t
want people who could think for themselves and then
possibly disagree with them, they simply want puppets
and pawns to do their bidding. John Dewey, the father
of “progressive education” and drafter of the Humanist
Manifesto and signer of the Communist Manifesto,
said that “you can’t make socialists out of individualists.
Children who know how to think for themselves spoil the
harmony of the collective society which is coming, where
everyone is interdependent.” Dewey wanted to stop
children from being independent and being able to
think critically. So what do you think his education
system would be teaching them? Definitely not how to
read and write and succeed in life. Instead they will be
taught to rely on the state and comply with everything
it says. This would make it easier for the masses to be
controlled and not resist their agenda. Lew Rockwell
put it clearly when he said, “It isn’t a coincidence that
governments everywhere want to educate children.
Government education in turn, is supposed to be evidence of
the state’s concern for our well-being. The real explanation
is less flattering. If the government’s propaganda can
take root as children grow up, those children will be no
threat to the state apparatus. They’ll fasten the chains
to their own ankles.” And thus the original Christian
model of education, raising children with morals,
values, manners, independence, critical thinking and
ingenuity, was done away with. And so now the aim
of public education is not to spread enlightenment at
all, but rather simply to reduce as many individuals as
possible to the same level, to breed a standard citizenry,
to put down dissent and originality, just as cultural
journalist Henry L. Mencken voiced decades ago. The
sad truth is that these Communist leaders exploited
parents’ desires to do what’s best for their children’s
future, and packaged it just right, and now they’ve sold
it, and unfortunately too many are buying their lies.
State “Education” Not the Only Way
If children started school at six months old and their
teachers gave them walking lessons, within a single
generation people would come to believe that humans
couldn’t learn to walk without going to school. What
the state wants you to believe is that state education
is the only way to get educated, that’s just so that you
can be easily controlled and manipulated. Not only is
it not the only way, but it is the worst way, and state
schools shouldn’t be an option. I am a high school
teacher, I have seen what is taught in the governmentmandated
curricula, even in private schools and in
many so-called Christian schools, and it is atrocious. I
will write a follow-up article focused on the nonsense
filling our children’s textbooks and infiltrating their
minds. And not only is the content appalling, but
the manner in which it is done is not conducive to a
child’s learning abilities. John Holt points out that at
modern day schools we ask children to do everyday,
for most of the day, what few adults are able to do
even for an hour. How many of us, attending, say a
lecture that doesn’t interest us, can keep our minds
from wandering? Hardly any! Then some would like
to argue that it is socially important for children to go
to school, in order to learn how to interact in society,
but once again as John Holt also so accurately points
out, that the socializing aspects of school are actually
unnatural and more likely to be harmful than helpful.
In fact, the Biblical virtues of kindness, patience,
generosity and so forth are learned by children in
intimate groups of two or three. Human beings tend
to behave worse in large groups, such as there is in
school. There they learn something quite different.
They learn popularity, conformity, bullying, teasing
and things like that. Children can make friends after
school hours, during holidays, community sports, at
church, in the park. Is it really so radical to suggest
that the current model of education is not the only
way, let alone the only one that is inherently good
for all children, as is often implied? Schools are not
teaching children to become compassionate and
independent human beings but rather, in most cases,
just drugged-up obedient slaves. And in the end, we
have been brainwashed by school, indoctrinated
by propaganda and mesmerised by the mass media
into believing that compliance is not only safe, but
right and necessary. It is mandatory that we take the
responsibility of our children’s education into our own
hands – homeschool them, send them to small private

Christian schools (not just private secular schools
that attach a prayer to the beginning of the day) and
most importantly, be aware of what is being taught in
their curriculums. We need to be more involved and
au fait with our children’s education. Sadly school is
no longer a playground, it’s a battleground for
the minds of our youth.
The Ugly Truth
We send our children to school to receive an education.
Albert Einstein said that “education is not the learning
of facts but the training of the mind to think,” but this,
unfortunately, is not the case in schools and universities
today. What you say is monitored, even though we
supposedly have freedom of speech. Anything that
is contrary to what is being force-fed at these state
institutions is considered hate speech. It’s so enforced
that one can even commit a thought crime by thinking
the wrong thing. So much for freedom. We send our
children to school to learn to read, write, do maths, learn
social skills, but in actual fact all we are doing is allowing
the state to conform and indoctrinate our children to
their lies. It’s by no mistake that education is going
down hill, there are leaders in charge puppeteering the
process, lowering the university standards so that underqualified
teachers are educating our youth, most of what
they are actually teaching from the state mandated text
books is complete disinformation, the standard to pass
is dropping lower and lower, and then the university
entrance credentials have to in-turn be lowered, and so
we reach full circle on this detrimental downward spiral.
They are purposely dumbing us down to protect their
own interests. As we said earlier, critical thinking and
independent individuals get in the way of their agenda.
The government believes that good citizens don’t think,
because thinking leads to reasoning, reasoning leads
to right and wrong, being able to perceive wrong then
leads to reflection, resistance and reformation. This
gets in the way of their agenda, which is obviously not
what they want. Therefore children are taught with rote
learning, parrot fashioned memorisation style, where
they are conditioned to regurgitate the propagated
disinformation drilled into them. Because if something
is true and correct, it must be hammered into the minds
of defenseless little children, with no questions allowed,
right? So in the end what they are actually learning at
school is that truth comes from authority or from a
show of hands; intelligence is the ability to remember
and repeat; memorization and repetition are rewarded;
non-compliance is punished; and ultimately taught to
conform intellectually and socially. Instead, originally,
education would teach that truth is truth even if no one
believes it, a lie is a lie even if everyone believes it. You
cannot determine truth by seeing what the majority
think. Intelligence is the ability to critically analyze
information (all of it, not only what is “safe” for you to
know) and then come to an accurate conclusion, and to
stand for what you believe in. They were then able to
learn about other cultures, other religions, all parts of
history and come to a conclusion.
Truth doesn’t fear investigation. If something is true,
it doesn’t mind if you ask questions, if you analyse
everything and do your research, because it would be
confident that you would always come back to the same
conclusion. You would always come back to the Truth.
When something is not allowed to be questioned and
is instead drummed into your head and forced to be
memorized, you should probably be cautious! That’s
the wise thing to do, but that’s not what is taught,
and that is not what is rewarded. Even the version of
history that is taught in school, is heavily revised to
favour our own government’s agenda while hiding its
crimes, and in doing so fosters an unrealistic sense of
false patriotism used to manufacture our allegiance to
a corporate entity masquerading as our government.
Blade Nzimande, secretary of the South African
Communist party, was also our Minister of Higher
education for 8 years, up until last year. Why are
politicians involved in educating our youth? The media
and state education have successfully lobotomised
society - all the better to manipulate them through
fear, confusion and sensation. This isn’t a radical right
wing conservative viewpoint, they have admitted it
themselves. Vladimir Lenin said, “give me four years
to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never
be uprooted.” Benjamin Kidd, Darwinian author who
wrote in his book The Science of Power, “the chief end
of education…[is] to impose on the young the ideal of
subordination to the common aims of organized humanity
…give us the young and we will create a new mind and a
new earth in a single generation.” Max Horkheimer was
one of the leading Jewish Marxists of the Frankfurt
school, which pioneered Cultural Marxism, and he
said, “The Revolution won’t happen with guns, rather it
will happen incrementally, year by year, generation by
generation. We will gradually infiltrate their educational
institutions and their political offices, transforming
them slowly into Marxist entities as we move towards
universal egalitarianism.” This is black and white, it
doesn’t get any clearer as to what their aim is. And as
writer G. Nascimento said, “If a man is born ignorant,
to parents who are ignorant, in a society that is ignorant,
lives a life of ignorance, and eventually dies ignorant, then

ignorance is the norm. And thus indoctrination can be
called education, hypnotism can be called entertainment,
criminals can be called leaders, and lies can be called
Truth, because his mind was never truly his own.” Birds
born in a cage think flying is an illness.
True Education
John Holt so accurately points out that “a person’s
freedom of learning is part of his freedom of thought, even
more basic than his freedom of speech. If we take from
someone his right to decide what he will be curious about
we destroy his freedom of thought. We say, in effect, you
must not think about what interests and concerns you,
but about what interests and concerns us.” This dismal
truth echoes throughout our school corridors.
And furthermore, state education destroys the love
of learning in children which is so strong when they
are small, by “encouraging and compelling them to work
for petty and contemptible rewards, gold stars, or papers
marked with a 100 and tacked to the wall, or A’s on a report
card, or honour rolls, or dean’s lists, or Omega Beta Kappa
keys. In short, for the ignoble satisfaction of feeling that
they are better than someone else.” And this is what gets
rewarded, by educators, by society, by organizations,
and by parents. What I’d rather hear, is a parent who
says, “I am the proud parent of a child who has resisted his
teachers’ attempts to break his spirit and bend him to the
will of his masters.” Children are born curious, they are
always exploring. From the time a child is young, we
lovingly teach them how to walk, how to talk, and once
they have learned this, society tells them to sit down
and shut up. “Sadly, children’s passion for learning often
ends when they encounter a world that seeks to educate
them for conformity and obedience only”, says educator
Robert John Meehan. Education is more than just
learning facts, it’s about instilling values and morals,
it’s the ability and skills required to think critically and
continually furthering the learning process as they
engage with new information. This will help them
to foster a love for solving problems and adapting
to new details and circumstances in real life. Sandra
Dodd points out that “kids who are in school just visit
life sometimes,
and then they
have to stop to
do homework
or to go to sleep
early or to get
to class on time.
They’re constantly
reminded that
they are preparing
for ‘real life’, while
being isolated
from it.” John
Holt, writer,
educator and
pioneer in youth
rights theory,
surmised that
“any child who can spend an hour or two a day, with
adults that he likes, who are interested in the world
and like to talk about it, will on most days learn far
more from their talk than he would learn in a week of
school.” Don’t misunderstand me, this doesn’t replace
learning literacy and numeracy. As an educator, I
know the need for children to gain these skills, but
they can very sufficiently be taught at home, or by a
trustworthy friend of the parents’, without having
all the propaganda and Marxist disinformation
underlying every subject and lesson. Trade up with
another mother, “you teach our children Bio, and
I’ll teach them math”, or whatever it may be. This
way of learning will be surpassingly greater for them
spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. The greatest
gift we can give our children is our time, because when
we give our time, we are giving a finite portion of our
life that we can never have back. Thus every moment
shared with our children must therefore be both
presented and perceived as being highly valued and
irreplaceable. A child will feel this and therefore also
value it more. Great classrooms, whether in a field,
in a library, in the kitchen, in a museum, or in a rock
pool, are characterized by positive, open relationships,
mutual respect, and a shared responsibility for the
learning process. Instead of trying to fill children
with facts and knowledge that we think will be most
important and needed in the future, we don’t know
what field they will go into or how society will develop,
for example, so rather we should try to shape children
into people who love learning so much and learn so
well that they will be able to learn whatever needs to be
learned. Fostering this culture of intrinsic motivation
for continuous learning, coupled with beliefs and
virtues instilled through the affectionate and good
example of a loving parent or guardian - that is a true
education. That will lead to a family, a community, a
nation, that will thrive on unity and mutual respect. A
nation that will excel with surpassing understanding.
This is true education - the education God intended
for us and is described in the Hand Book of Life.

DEBATING HOMOSEXUALITY and THe BIBLE
on CAPE TALK RADIO 702
How Do You Interpret Scripture?
I had the opportunity to be part
of a panel discussion on the
Eusebius McKaiser show on Cape
Talk, Radio 702. The title of the
show was: Is the Bible an Ally of Gay
People? The discussion began with
host Eusebius asking me how I deal
with passages of Scripture when
there are differences of opinion on
interpretation. My reply was that
Scripture interprets Scripture. The
clearer passages of Scripture are
used to interpret the less clear.
The whole of Scripture must be
used to interpret any portion of
Scripture. If any interpretation
of Scripture is inconsistent with
the whole Bible, then it must
be rejected. In addition, we can
receive conformation from Church
Councils, Creeds and Confessions.
The point is that objective truth
must be our foundation, not
subjective opinion. If I am hiking
in the mountains and find a cairn
(a pile of rocks with a sign) which
disagrees with my perception of
where I am, it is my perception
that is wrong. The objective rock
solid marker is objective reality. So
is Scripture. The Bible is the Word
of God, inspired, infallible and
inerrant.
“You Have to Be Gay to Know
God”
Host, Eusebius McKaiser
introduced Siya Khumalo,
the author of “You Have to be
Gay to Know God” with much
warmth and enthusiasm, highly
recommending his book as a must
have, must read book. Eusebius
described it as: “one of the best
books that has been written in
South Africa in recent years!”
Eusebius then added that he did
not know what gender God was.
“No One is Obligated to be
Celibate”
Rev. Owen Franklin, who identified
himself as “gay” and “sexually
attracted to men”, as he described
it, was then brought into the
discussion He then claimed that
while some may feel called to be
celibate, he did not believe that God
obligated anyone to be celibate, but
calls us to “loving relationships.”
“The Most Pro-Homosexual
Passage in the Bible”
Rev Michael Oliphant, who was
described as a minister of the Church
of the Province of South Africa, when
asked for some Scriptural support
for his position, said: “I am not used
to quoting Scripture ad nauseam.”
But then he offered John 3:16 as
the most “pro-homosexual passage
in the Bible”. Which he then quoted
as: “God so loved the world – not
the world except for gay people…”
Eusebius then responded that
“It could be argued that God loves
Oscar Pistorius, but that would not
necessarily mean that He approves of
murder.” John 3:16 was very broad,
could Rev. Oliphant not give some
more explicitly pro-homosexual
passage from the Bible? To this
Rev. Oliphant responded that he
disagreed that it was broad and
claimed that as “God is love”, we
need to “accept and embrace.”
“Not Different!”
When a caller stated that it was
a physiological fact that people
are created male and female and
men and women are different
biologically, the interviewer
rejected his assertion and stated
that the claim that there are
biological and physiological
differences between men and
woman is “blatantly false!”
War Against the Bible
Siya Khumalo stated that “God has
not been wasting his time” over these
issues and “we should not romanticize
the Bible,” “We have progressed,” “The
Bible does not speak to our context,”
“We should not cherry pick verses,”
“We have moved on from the Bible
times,” “The Bible is obsolete,” “The
Law failed,” “We should not be selfrighteous
and self-justifying.” He
found it “bizarre” that Genesis 19
could be used as condemnation of
homosexuality, dealing as it did
with the attempt to “homosexualise
angels who were there to investigate
the situation.” He claimed that
this has absolutely no relevance
to our time. Several of the panel
participants declared “our modern
context is utterly different” from the
Bible times. It was claimed that the
attempt to impose homosexuality
on the angels in Sodom was the
issue, not homosexuality itself. Rev.
Oliphant of the CPSA claimed: “We
put this to bed a long time ago.”
“For Us the Bible is Not
Authoritative”
One woman who phoned in stated
that “the Bible is a wisdom book, much
like the Quran”. One of the panel
participants claimed that: “We never

claimed the Bible as the infallible Word
of God. The Bible for me is a precious
document, but not a legal document. It
was not inspired by God exclusively. We
can find some comfort and inspiration
from it in times of darkness, but it is
not authoritative.”
“Christ Died for Opposing the
Status Quo!”
It was claimed that “Christ was
crucified for opposing the status
quo” and those who oppose
homosexuality are “only interested in
the status quo.” It was then claimed
that the best religious ally for the
homosexual agenda is in “liberation
theology.” The Bible speaks of “the
outcasts” being accepted back in
and our primary concern should be
to make the homosexual “outcasts”
welcome in the church. Siya
Khumalo said the very definition
of Christianity is “loving people more
than the status quo.”
“The Church Must Move On to
Gender Equality”
It was then mentioned that, as in the
case of slavery and women’s rights,
the church needs to recognize that
we have “moved on” and should
therefore recognize that gays must
be given equal rights in the church,
including homosexual “marriage”
and “gender equality”.
Only Biblical Evangelical
Christianity Brought Freedom
to Slaves and Respect for
Women
When after about 30 minutes, I
was next able to participate in the
discussion, I had to point out that
every religion and culture practiced
slavery. It is an historic fact that
only Bible-believing, Evangelical
Christianity brought an end to
slavery and the slave trade. Only
Christianity brought real freedom
and liberation for women. Respect
and protection for women did not
grow out of, for example, the Burka
in Islam, but from the Bible and the
teachings of Christ. Everything good
in society has its roots in the Bible
and in the teachings and example of
Christ. All of the problems we are
facing throughout the world are a
result of ignoring, or violating, the
Laws of God and the teachings of
Christ in the Bible.
Hostility to the Bible
The panel and host tried to depict
Evangelical Christians who hold
to marriage being only between a
man and a woman as “unloving,”
“judgmental”, “harsh,” “selfrighteous,”
“homophobic bigots.”
Several of the panel participants
made comments such as: “Little in
the Bible helps me,” “The Bible doesn’t
speak to our context” and “Our
modern context is utterly different
from the Bible times.” Eusebius
made a comment: “If gay people
are sinners…” and asked: “Why
should we give a damn what the
Bible says anyhow?” At one point
he asked one of the participants
“Why don’t you just accept the
God Delusion and go to the other
side?” Siya Khumalo mentioned
some of his inspirations being
SACP (South African Communist
Party) leaders Ronnie Kasrils and
Joe Slovo and Bishop Desmond
Tutu. Because the church has
“influence”, he believed it was
important to stay in the church.
Siya Khumalo said that he saw
God as love and therefore he
supported activities that promote
“who I am.” Eusebius commented
that Siya would make “a good sonin-law!”
The Bible is the Greatest Book
Ever Written
Well, no one who is reading the
Bible on a daily basis could actually
say that. It is just extraordinary to
see how up-to-date and relevant
the Bible is when exposing the
depravity of human nature and
providing real, workable, incisive
solutions to all areas of life.
The Most Condemned Sin
When I finally had an opportunity
to make a comment again, I pointed
out that the issue is primarily
about religious freedom. The most
condemned sin in the Bible is
actually idolatry. If we make an idol
of anything, whether it be adultery,
fornication, or perversion, the sin
of idolatry is so serious that it is
given as the primary reason for God
abandoning His people in Israel to
the Assyrian Exile and Judea to the
Babylonian Exile, even with the
destruction of the Temple. That is
how seriously God takes idolatry. If
we raise our own personal opinions
above that of God’s Word, that is
idolatry.
Religious Freedom is at Stake
There is a religious freedom issue at
stake here. The real “outcasts” these
days seem to be those who want to hold
to a traditional view of marriage and
who hold to inerrancy of Scripture.
Many Bible-believing Christians
are being bullied, intimidated,
harassed, sued and prosecuted by
an increasingly intolerant Gay GB
and Pink Inquisition. Homosexual
activists are acting like a modern
Inquisition bullying, harassing and
suing those who disagree with them -
for “Thought Crimes!” Eusebius said at
this “we wish we had such power!”
Slavery and Women’s Rights
Eusebius then asked, what I
thought of slavery? To which
I could reply that Christians
have historically been in the
very forefront of opposing and
outlawing slavery, setting the
captives free. When he asked where
I stood on women’s rights, I pointed
out that Christianity has been at
the very forefront of elevating
women to greater dignity, respect

and protection. Every evil in the
world is a result of neglecting,
ignoring, or violating the Laws of
God and the teachings of Christ in
the Bible. The greatest freedoms,
prosperity and productivity has
come from obeying the Word of
God and following the teachings of
Christ in all areas of life.
Hope and Freedom
Eusebius challenged me to “square
the circle” and reconcile the
“inconsistency” of my beliefs that
if I am willing to “depart from the
Bible” and accept “progressive views”
on issues like slavery and women’s
rights, why can I not do so when
it comes to “gender equality”? In
response I had to say: “No I am not
departing from a literal belief in an
inerrant Bible. The Bible is the very
Charter of Liberty. Paul’s Epistle
to Philemon charged Philemon not
to accept Onesimus back as a slave,
but as a brother beloved”. Jesus
taught us to love our neighbour,
to do unto others as we want to
be done unto. Jesus said that He
had come to set the captives free.
Jesus offers hope for adulterers,
fornicators, homosexuals and
other sinners. He can free us from
our darkness, fears, depravity,
sins, habits and addictions. You
shall know the truth and the truth
shall set you free! In the Bible we
see the love of God, who loves
us enough not to leave us in our
chains and oppression, but to set
us free.
Essential Foundation for Justice
I expressed my surprise that there
were “ministers of the Gospel” on
the panel who were belittling the
Bible, downgrading the Bible,
making such comments as: “I
am not used to quoting Scripture
ad nauseam” and then not even
able to quote John 3:16 properly!
Making comments that the Bible
is “obsolete” and that there is
“little in the Bible that helps me.”
The Bible is the greatest Book
ever written. It is a foundation
of freedom. The foundation of
civilization itself. When nations
have taken the Bible seriously,
there has been greater freedom,
justice and liberty for all.
Love in Action
Eusebius then interrupted to ask “If
you believe that God is love, then what
is loving about excluding and forbidding
me to have a loving consensual
homosexual relationship with another
man?” I answered, “What is loving
about trying to prosecute Christians
for holding traditional views about
marriage? What is loving about taking
churches to court and trying to sue
them and bully them into accepting
the homosexual agenda of re-defining
marriage?” Hatred for the Bible and
for traditional Christian views of
marriage is hardly loving. To attempt
to force Christians to go against their
conscience is not loving.
Marriage is God-Ordained
In the Bible marriage can only be
between a man and a woman. There
are prohibitions against marriage
between, for example, brothers and
sisters, or with under-aged girls. If
we are to take away all prohibitions
on marriage then even polygamy,
paedophilia, or incest could be
legalized! There are qualifications
for marriage, including age. If we
are to take away restrictions in
qualifications of marriage, then
you could allow, for example,
what is tolerated in many Muslim
countries, where a man can marry a
minor, even as young as 9 years old!
The Biblical Solution
A woman caller then said that there
is a solution to homosexuality
and it is the same solution as for
alcoholics and adulterers, it is to
repent. Eusebius responded that if
the majority of people in her church
were like her, then “count me out!”
Hope for Homosexuals
When I was asked for a concluding
statement, whether homosexuals
would be welcome in our church
Eusebius added that in his opinion,
I was “homophobic”, I responded:
“No, I am definitely not homophobic.
Homophobia would be an irrational
fear of and/or hatred of homosexuals.
I do not fear anybody and I do not
hate anyone. We love homosexuals
and want them to come to know full
Salvation in and through our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ. The Bible offers
a message of hope for all that we can
rise above our natural inclinations
and be transformed through salvation
and discipleship through Christ.”
A Challenge to the Churches
There is no doubt that the debate
over homosexuality and gender
issues, the attempts to redefine
marriage and so much more are
issues that cannot be ignored. We
need to be informed, interceding
and involved in being salt and light
in all areas of life. To understand
