Nathan family takes home top prize

This year’s Great Pumpkin
Contest wrapped up
Oct. 31, but the submissions
continue to amaze
even after Halloween
ended.
We received a few submissions
this year, which
made the competition incredible
tough. It was an
extremely difficult decision,
but The Landmark’s
winning pumpkin carving
this year goes to Marc Nathan
and his two daughters.
The Nathan family
were feeling creative, and
submitted two entries,
but their winning entry
is pumpkin Pac-Man
chasing three pumpkin
ghosts.
The family also won the
contest last year.
“My daughters and I
would really like to defend
last years championship,”
Marc Nathan said.
The family has won a
gift certificate to Goodies,
Etc. located at 652 Central
Ave. in Highland Park.

The Nathan family also submitted this creative pumpkin,
placed on top of a lamp, with holes carved into it so
it shoots out light throughout the room.

Melvoin has remained
involved with the organization
as a volunteer and
advocate.
Following Melvoin’s
award presentation, Stuart
acknowledged the Crain-
Maling Foundation with
the Distinguished Community
Partner Award.
The Crain-Maling Foundation
made a generous
donation in honor of their
friendship with Dr. Arnold
(Arnie) Weber to help fund
the Edna Weber Garden of
Light Wing at the Center’s
House of Welcome.
Finally, the awards ceremony
included a presentation
of the Dedicated
Corporation Award to local
healthcare company
Abbott for their ongoing
financial support of the
North Shore Senior Center’s
many programs for
seniors and their family
members. Abbott’s support
reflects its broader
work to help people build
better lives and stronger
local communities across
the Chicago area.
The evening included
a successful paddle raise
and silent auction. Guests
bid in the silent auction on
such prizes as an electronics
package that featured
an Apple Watch and Abt
Gift Card; a week’s stay in
Anna Maria Island, Florida;
and Chicago sports
packages; and much more.
