On the menu: A large pizza menu includes thin crust, deep dish, stuffed and individual gourmet pizzas with more than two dozen topping choices. Offerings are the same at each of the three locations. Other menu items vary somewhat at each location. In addition to pizza, the restaurant has “made-in-house” pastas, including traditional lasagna. Chicken, fish, sausage and veal dishes are among the full meal choices, and a number of Americanstyle sandwiches and wraps are available for lunch or dinner. Specialties: “Little Joe’s Favorites,” include Giombatta Alla Suzi, a homemade sausage, onion, green pepper, potato and garlic dish; Pollo Chantel, a lightly breaded chicken breast with cream, mushrooms, white wine and “a touch of red sauce”; and Steak Italiano with filet medallions, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and olive oil over rigatoni. About the owners: Sue Vazquez and her husband Gerardo “Abey” Vazquez met at the original Little Joe’s on 63rd Street in Chicago. That pizzeria was founded by her father, Patrick Albergo, and his partner, Joe Pierre, who opened their eatery on Sept. 19, 1958, the day Sue Vazquez was born. Decor: Vazquez characterizes the decor in all three locations as having a “Tuscany feel” but refers to the recently renovated Frankfort location as the “most beautiful,” with the most banquet space. Specialties: Little Joe’s is known for its homemade Italian salad dressing, which complements several of the restaurant’s nine salad choices, including the Mediterranean selection. Vazquez said Little Joe’s steaks are hand cut and “fresh, never frozen.” “People are very surprised and very delighted to have one of our steaks,” she said. Prices: Appetizers start at $5.25, and meat sandwich prices start at $6.25, with a choice of two sides. Classic pasta dinners start at $9.95, and pasta specialty dishes range from $12.50 to $18.75. Meat and fish entrees start at $14.95.
