DAN PEARLMAN — THE NEW WORK EXPERIENCE
Globalisierung und digitale Transformation
verändern unsere Welt und
haben Einfluss darauf, wie wir leben
und arbeiten. Dank iPhone und Co
ist Arbeit heute überall und jederzeit.
Wenn wir daher von Work-Life-Blending
sprechen, meinen wir, dass die
Trennung von Arbeit und Freizeit aufgehoben
ist. Eine neue Art des Arbeitens
verlangt auch neue Perspektiven
auf das Thema Arbeit. Wir in der dan
pearlman Group leben und lieben das
neue Arbeiten.
In unserem DAN Campus erschließen
wir uns eigene innovative New Work
Formate und Labs, experimentieren
mit der Zukunft der Arbeit und lassen
unsere Kunden und unser Partnernetzwerk
daran teilhaben. Vor allem
aber geht es für uns darum, Antworten
auf die Fragen der Menschen zur
Zukunft der Arbeit zu finden, ihre Bedürfnisse
und Wünsche zu antizipieren
und in den Mittelpunkt unseres
Denkens und Handelns zu stellen. Ich
wünsche Ihnen eine spannende Reise
in die Welt des Neuen Arbeitens.
Globalization and digitalization constantly
changes our world and has
an impact on how we live and work.
Thanks to iPhone and others, we can
work wherever and whenever we
want. Speaking of work-life-blending,
we refer to the fact that a clear
cut between work and leisure can no
longer be drawn. A new kind of work
also calls for new perspectives on the
topic. At dan pearlman Group, we live
and love this New Work. At the DAN
Campus, we develop our own innovative
New Work formats and labs,
experiment with the future of work,
and share our knowledge with our
network of clients and partners. First
and foremost, for us, it is about finding
answers to people’s questions on
the future of work, to anticipate their
needs and wishes and to put these at
the heart of our thoughts and actions.
I wish you a pleasant journey through
WORK IS LIFE
WORK IS LIFE
WORK IS LIFE
DAN PEARLMAN — THE NEW WORK EXPERIENCE
„Arbeiten macht glücklich, Arbeit unglücklich“,
diese Einschätzung galt
gestern. Arbeiten war ein Mittel zum
Zweck. Man hat gearbeitet, um den
Lebensunterhalt zu sichern oder seinen
Lifestyle zu ermöglichen. Heute ist
Arbeit mehr als ein Garant für Existenz
und materiellen Wohlstand. Denn:
Unsere Ansprüche haben sich verändert
und natürlich haben sich auch
unsere Arbeit und deren Bedeutung
für uns weiterentwickelt. Arbeiten ist
komplexer, virtueller, flexibler, mobiler
und individueller geworden. Globalisierung,
Digitalisierung und demografischer
Wandel beeinflussen unser
Leben und damit auch unser Arbeitsleben.
Wir alle spüren die Veränderungen
und stellen die große Frage nach
der Zukunft der Arbeit. New Work,
also das neue Arbeiten, ist in allen
Köpfen und bewegt die Menschen in
ihren vielen Rollen als Unternehmenslenker
oder Unternehmensmitarbeiter,
als Macher und Manager, als Angestellte
oder Freelancer. Was bedeutet
New Work aber konkret?
New Work beinhaltet die Flexibilität
der Mitarbeiter, auf die Veränderungen
der Zukunft reagieren zu können,
also das richtige Maß an zeitlicher und
räumlicher Freiheit. New Work bedeutet
auch Agilität in den Prozessen, um
Innovationen schnell marktfähig zu
machen sowie eine Arbeitsumgebung,
die die Kreativität der Mitarbeiter optimal
integriert. Und New Work braucht
Leadership, also eine Führungskultur
im Unternehmen und eine Organisation
des Unternehmens, die New Work
zulässt und vorlebt. In diesem Spannungsfeld
aus Kultur und Raum entsteht
eine neue Dimension des Arbeitens
- Kultur trifft Architektur.
Ich bin überzeugt davon, dass jedes
Unternehmen unabhängig von
Branche, Größe und Gründungsjahr
einen New Work Masterplan aufsetzen
muss. Ziel muss es sein, das
Thema New Work in den Mittelpunkt
des unternehmerischen Handelns zu
stellen. Damit dies gelingt, müssen
Unternehmen alle Facetten der New
Work Experience angehen. Wir haben
dafür fünf Module entwickelt, die
Unternehmen helfen, diese fünf New
Work Dimensionen auszugestalten.
Gemeinsam mit den Unternehmen
entwickeln wir eine Corporate Culture,
die New Work überhaupt erst möglich
macht, gestalten daraus ein Employer
Branding, um passende Mitarbeiter zu
finden und ein Internal Branding, um
Mitarbeitern das notwendige Wissen,
Markencommitment und die Bereitschaft
für die Veränderungen der
Zukunft zu vermitteln. Schließlich
sorgen wir mit Innovation Labs und
New Work Spaces für Prozesse und
Räume, die agiles Arbeiten und echte
Markenerlebnisse ermöglichen.
Unternehmen stehen vor der großen
Herausforderung, als moderner New
Work Arbeitgeber zu überzeugen und
zu begeistern. Sie müssen all die Ansprüche,
die Menschen an das Leben
haben, berücksichtigen. Denn: Arbeit
ist Leben. Wer diese Formel begreift
und bei der Gestaltung der Zukunft
sinnvoll einbezieht, kann als Unternehmen
und als Marke ganzheitlich punkten
und sich über Mitarbeiter freuen,
die nicht nur gerne arbeiten, sondern
auch aus Überzeugung Markenbotschafter
sind. Zufriedene Mitarbeiter
sind nämlich nicht nur aus menschlicher
Sicht relevant für Unternehmen,
sie stärken vor allem Beziehung zu
den Kunden und prägen damit den
Erfolg der Marke maßgeblich mit.
“To work makes us happy, but work
does not,” this judgement is outdated.
In the past, work was viewed as means
to an end. People worked either to
sustain a certain standard of living
or to afford a certain lifestyle. Today,
work is far more than a guarantee for
existence and materialistic affluence.
As we have evolved our work has also
evolved. It is more complex, virtual,
efficient, more mobile, and has become
more individualistic. Globalization,
digitalization and demographic
change has influenced our lives and
our work lives. We can all feel these
changes and ask the big question of
the future of work. This New Work is
in everybody’s head and moves people
within their many roles as corporate
leader or employee, as maker
and manager, as full-time employee
or freelancer. But what exactly does
New Work mean?
New Work comprises the flexibility of
employees to react to changes of the
future, including the right measure of
both temporal and spatial freedom.
New Work also includes the agility of
processes so that innovations can be
taken faster to the market. New Work
stands for a work environment that
effectively integrates the creativity
of the employees. Finally, New Work
needs a leadership, meaning both a
culture of leadership within the company
and the organization of the
company, that allow for and live this
New Work. Between the poles of culture
and space, a new dimension of
working arises where culture meets
architecture.
I am convinced that every company,
irrespective of industry, size or founding
year, needs to set up a New Work
masterplan. The aim of this plan has to
be to place New Work at the center of
all corporate actions. To realize that,
companies need to tackle all facets of
the New Work Experience. Therefore,
we developed five modules that help
companies designing these five New
Work dimensions.
Together with the companies, we
develop a corporate culture that enables
New Work. Based on this, we
create both an employer branding to
find the right employees and an internal
branding to impart knowledge
and brand commitment and to prepare
employees for future changes.
With innovation labs and New Work
Spaces, we design processes and
spaces that allow for agile work and
real brand experiences. Businesses are
faced with the big challenge of being
convincing, inspiring and modern
New Work employers. They need to
respect all the demands and wishes
people have on their lives because
work is life. Companies that understand
these relations and appropriately
integrate them in their future
plans will score as employer brands
and can develop employees who not
only love to work but who will naturally
become brand ambassadors.
Happy and satisfied employees are
important for business beyond a
human or ethical perspective. They
strengthen the brand and essentially
contribute to its success.
INTERNAL
BRANDING
Internal Branding ist ein ganzheitlicher
Ansatz, mit dem Mitarbeiter zu
Markenbotschaftern werden. Denn
wenn Mitarbeiter von ihrer Marke begeistert
sind und sich mit ihr identifizieren,
können sie flexibel auf die
Herausforderungen der Zukunft
reagieren und das Markenerlebnis
positiv prägen. Dadurch wird die
Marke gestärkt und der Markenwert
maßgeblich gesteigert.
Internal branding is an integral approach
that turns employees into
brand ambassadors. When employees
are enthusiastic about
their brand and can identify with
it, they can react flexibly to future
challenges and positively shape
the brand experience. Thereby, the
brand is strengthened and the brand
value is essentially increased.
M
EMPLOYEE
VALUE
PROPOSITION
Die Employee Value Proposition eines
Unternehmens definiert, was Unternehmen
ihren Mitarbeitern bieten und
was sie dafür erwarten. Unternehmen
können so Mitarbeiter besser gewinnen,
binden und gezielt motivieren.
Mitarbeiter sind engagierter in Bezug
auf die Umsetzung von Mission, Vision
und Werten.
The employee value proposition defines
what a company offers its employees
and expects from its employees.
Therefore companies perform
better in attracting, retaining and
motivating employees. Employees
are more committed to mission, vision
and values.
Der
WORK
SPACE
Die Arbeitsräume der Zukunft sind
Orte, die die Anforderungen an
Flexibilität, Agilität, interdisziplinären
Austausch und neue Formen
des Arbeitens mit einer individuellen
Identität verbinden. New Work
Spaces kreieren Erfahrungs- und
Lernwelten, die Menschen eines oder
verschiedener Unternehmen oder
auch unterschiedliche Freelancer
physisch an einem Ort vereinen und
in dieser Gemeinschaft einen Vorsprung
gegenüber der Außenwelt
formulieren.
Work spaces of the future are places
that combine the demands on flexibility,
agility, interdisciplinary exchange,
and new forms of work with
an individual identity. New Work
spaces create worlds of experience
and learning that unite people of
one or many companies as well as
freelancers in one physical space
and that, as a community, creates
an advantage over the outer world.
O
BRAND
SPACE
Brand Space ist ein Ort, an dem
die Mitarbeiter eines Unternehmens
die Zukunft ihrer Marke mit allen Sinnen
erleben können.
The brand space is a place here employees
of a company experience
the future of their brand with all their
senses.
Y
CORPORATE
CULTURE
Die Unternehmenskultur umfasst die
Werte, die den einzigartigen Charakter
eines Unternehmens ausmachen,
den Führungsstil und Fragen der Organisationsstruktur.
Eine Corporate
Culture muss maßgeblich von der
Unternehmensführung vorgelegt
werden und sich im Verhalten der
Mitarbeiter in allen Hierarchieebenen
widerspiegeln.
The corporate culture comprises
values that form the unique character
of a company, the management
style, and questions of organizational
structure. A Corporate Culture needs
to be presented by the corporate
management and has to be reflected
in the behavior of employees on all
hierarchies.
INNOVATION
LAB
Innovation Labs öffnen den Weg in
eine agile Zukunft und sind Wegbereiter
für Change-Prozesse in jedem
Businessbereich. In moderierten Innovation
Sprints werden Herausforderungen
gelöst, indem alle relevanten
Teammitglieder, Experten und Kunden
in den iterativen Prozess eingebunden
werden. Der interdisziplinäre
Austausch in Labs funktioniert als
physischer und/oder virtueller Raum.
Innovation labs open the way to an
agile future and are companions of
change processes in every business
area. In moderated innovation sprints,
challenges are solved by including all
relevant employees, experts, and customers
in the iterative process. Interdisciplinary
exchange in labs functions
as physical and or virtual space.
E
BRAND
IDENTITY
Marken müssen eine authentische
und konsistent erlebbare Markenidentität
aufweisen.
Brands must have an authentic and
consistent brand identity. It must be
thought of as a one holistic brand experience
across all touch points that
clearly differentiates itself from other
brands and has relevance within the
customers life.
E
EMPLOYER
BRANDING
Employer Branding beginnt schon
beim Recruiting und kennzeichnet
den Aufbau und die Pflege von
Unternehmen als Arbeitgebermarke.
Nur wer es schafft, schon Bewerbern
eine Identifikationsebene mit
der Marke zu bieten, kann langfristig
ein attraktiver Arbeitgeber sein und
Mitarbeitern das richtige Gleichgewicht
aus Freiheit und Verantwortung
bieten.
Employer branding starts with the
recruiting process and marks the
development and maintenance of a
company as employer brand. Only
those who manage to already offer
applicants an identification level
with the brand are able to be attractive
employers in the long run
and can provide the right balance of
freedom and responsibility to their
employees.
hat auf der Suche nach ihrem Traumjob
30 Jobs in einem Jahr getestet.
Ihre Erfahrungen verarbeitete sie in
dem Bestseller „Das Traumjob-Experiment“.
Ihr Ausstieg aus dem klassischen
Arbeitsleben und der Beginn
ihrer New Work Expertise passierte
nach knapp acht Jahren Arbeit für
ein deutsches Industrieunternehmen.
Beinahe sechs Jahre davon war die
studierte Wirtschaftswissenschaftlerin
mit dem Schwerpunkt Personal und
Organisation im Personalbereich in
Deutschland und China tätig.
Ihr neues Abenteuer startete Anfang
2018. Jannike Stöhr macht sich
auf die Suche nach Jobs mit Zukunft
und testet dafür 30 Jobs der Zukunft.
Jobs der Zukunft können bereits bestehende
Berufe sein, die in der Zukunft
gefragter sein werden, oder
ganz neu entstehende. Jannike wird
Vordenker und Pioniere, die sich bereits
mit den Ansätzen dieser Jobs
beschäftigen, begleiten und befragen.
Ein gleichnamiges Buchprojekt
„30 Jobs der Zukunft“ ist in Arbeit.
Jannike findet: "Ganz eindeutig verändern
sich unsere Arbeitswelt und
die Bedürfnisse von Mitarbeitern
grundlegend. Umso wichtiger ist es,
dass Unternehmen sich den daraus
resultierenden Fragen pro-aktiv stellen.
Von meinem neuen Projekt erhoffe
ich mir diesbezüglich sehr viel.
In dem Aufzeigen von wünschenswerten
Möglichkeiten liegt für mich der
Schlüssel für einen Gegenentwurf zu
dem viel beschworenen Negativszenario
zum Thema Digitalisierung und
neue Arbeitswelten." Jannikes Experimentierfreude
und Expertise macht
sie zu einer gefragten Expertin innerhalb
unseres Netzwerkes.
Jannike Stöhr, in her early 30s, cosmopolitan,
New Work expert, author,
coach and well-booked speaker, tried
30 jobs in a year looking for her dream
job. She writes about her job experiences
in the bestseller book “Das
Traumjob-Experiment”. She left the
classic working life and began her
New Work expertise after she had
worked for a German industrial company
for almost eight years. Having
studied economics with a focus on
human resources and organization,
Jannike worked in human resources
in Germany and China for nearly six
years. Her new adventure started in
early 2018. Jannike Stöhr is looking
for jobs with a future and is therefore
trying out 30 jobs of the future. These
jobs can either be existing occupations
with a high demand in the future,
or completely new professions.
Jannike will accompany and interview
pioneers, who are already engaged in
the beginnings of these jobs. At the
same time, she is working on a book
project named “30 jobs of the future”.
Jannike about her new project:
"Clearly, the work environment and
the needs of employees are fundamentally
changing. Hence it is all the
more important for companies to proactively
address the resulting issues.
In this regard, I expect much from my
new project. For me, it is about finding
out what jobs of the future look
like and how we want to work in the
future. The key for an alternative concept
to the much-invoked negative
scenario concerning the topic digitalization
and new working worlds
is to highlight desirable opportunities.“
ineinander?
in Design Thinking Workshops, Kommunikationstrainings
A good job is characterized by the fact that there is
enough space to open your mind. That's why we have a
lovingly designed, green roof terrace as a physical place
for recreation. In addition, employees may choose alternative
ways for self-realization, such as sabbaticals, because
we believe, that only the open minded people are willing
to learn more. Therefore, we offer plenty of opportunities
for mental recharge: From Design Thinking Workshops,
Creativity, sustainability and social commitment play an
important role for us in and beyond our projects. Together,
as the dan pearlman Group, we demonstrate our social
commitment in multiple ways. Sponsor- and partnerships
with international organizations for environmental protection
of species, support for children, women and families,
play an important role in our field of activity such as Ora
Kinderhilfe International e.V., Orang Utan Nita, Sabah Rhino
Project and Berliner Schulpate.
EMPLOYEE
FOCUSED
Unser Ziel ist es, unseren Mitarbeitern
die Vereinbarkeit von Beruf und Familie,
persönlichen Interessen und Freizeit
zu ermöglichen. Deshalb leben wir
seit 2010 das Modell eines familien- und
mitarbeiterfreundlichen Unternehmens
und haben diese Werte fest in unserer
Unternehmenskultur verankert. Wir
orientieren uns dabei an einem von uns
entwickelten Leitbild für Vereinbarkeit,
bieten unseren Mitarbeitern verschiedene
Arbeitszeitmodelle und sind Mitglied
im Unternehmensnetzwerk Erfolgsfaktor
Familie.
DAN PEARLMAN — THE NEW WORK EXPERIENCE
Our goal is it to enable our employees
to reconcile work and family, personal
interests and leisure time. That is
why we have been living the model of
a family and employee-friendly company
since 2010 and have firmly anchored
these values in our corporate
culture: we follow a mission statement
we developed for compatibility, we
offer various working time models to
our employees, and we are members
of the corporate network Erfolgsfaktor
OBJECT
OF DESIRE
Viele Menschen – viele Ideen. Abseits aller kommerziellen
can’t buy”. Alle Baupläne werden jeden Monat im Lifestylemagazin
H.O.M.E. veröffentlicht. Ausgewählte Objects of
“Art asks questions. Design gives answers”, says Mathias
Vef, the Berlin-based artist who, together with dan pearlman,
launched the Artist Residency on the dan pearlman
Campus to create synergies and intersections for new
impulses, to learn from each other but also to provoke
one another. In his works, Mathias Vef portrays people
who have reinvented themselves and thus created their
own identity. In his digital collages, the artist uses different
elements and photographs to create complex visual
worlds on walls and objects.
DAN PEARLMAN — THE NEW WORK EXPERIENCE
Apart from all our commercial projects, dan pearlman has,
for itself, created a playful place of vibrancy and independence:
the Objects of Desire (OODs). No limits or rules
impede ones thoughts in creating these objects. The resulting
ideas are spontaneous, quick and – also in how they
are used – make no claim to perfection or functionality.
The simple motto for the DIY’er: “Lifestyle, money can’t
buy.” Once a month new assembly instructions are printed
in the lifestyle magazine H.O.M.E. Selected Objects of Desire
can also be found on the collective page of our website:
from matches and many more.
DAN PEARLMAN — THE NEW WORK EXPERIENCE
Cross Realities, arbeiten, entstehen neuartige Verbindungen
und ungeahnte Orte der Kreativität: Wir können
digital erlebbare Moodboards in Meetingräumen aufbauen
physisch nutzen. Unser Anspruch an diesen kollaborativen
We bring people, spaces and digital data together. By
working beyond our reality and instead, across multiple
realities, we build new connections and undreamed places
of creativity: We can experience digitally installed mood
boards in meeting rooms and place colleagues who are
spread all over the globe at one conference table which
we also share physically. Our approach to this collaborative
cosmos is to work completely without barriers. In
this way, nobody is excluded by technology. Real objects
no longer vanish in the digital world. They exist in a cross
reality extended by its digital avatar. In detail: a desk stays
a desk but with our means we turn it into the virtual workspace
of the future.
DAN PEARLMAN — THE NEW WORK EXPERIENCE
Man
kann ihnen quasi beim Wachsen zusehen.
Ihr Erfolg hängt aber nicht nur
von einer guten Geschäftsidee und
einem durchdachten Finanzierungsplan
ab. Was braucht ein Start-up,
um erfolgreich zu sein? Wie möchten
diese Unternehmen arbeiten? Und
wie soll ihr Arbeitsplatz aussehen?
Ist Desk-sharing das Richtige? Soll es
ein eigenes Büro oder doch ein Coworking
Space gemeinsam mit anderen
inspirierenden Mietern sein? New
Store ist genau solch ein junges, aufstrebendes
Unternehmen mit innovativen
Ideen im Herzen Berlins. Für das
internationale, interdisziplinäre Team
haben wir als Experten für New Work
Spaces eine räumliche Antwort auf die
Bedürfnisse von neuen Arbeitsplatzwelten
geschaffen.
Nowadays, innovation happens a lot
faster and easier than ever before.
New companies with the most fascinating
business ideas are popping
up like mushrooms. Their success,
however, not only depends on a well
thought-out business idea and a waterproof
finance plan. So, what is it,
that a start-up needs to be successful?
How do they and their employees
want to work? And how should their
workplace look like? Is it desk sharing
they aim for? Do they want an own
office or is a coworking space shared
with other inspiring companies what
is required? New Store is just such
a young, aspiring and innovative
start-up located in the heart of Berlin.
Being experts for new workspaces,
we have created a spatial response
to the needs and requirements of
the new generation of workplace
environments for New Store’s Berlin-based
international and interdisciplinary
PERSONAL
DEVELOPMENT
Was man lange als Work-Life-Balance
bezeichnet hat, ist heute viel mehr:
New Work. Es geht darum, Arbeit zu
einem Motor unserer persönlichen
Entfaltung zu machen. Dazu gehört
Raum für Inspiration, für geistigen
Austausch und Networking, egal ob
intern mit Kollegen oder extern mit
Partnern und Kunden. Unsere Jobs
müssen uns Raum dafür geben. Wer
das New Store Office im Herzen Berlins
betritt, wird direkt von der Marke
willkommen geheißen. Über dem repräsentativen
Empfangsdesk aus hellem
Holz läutet das prominent platzierte
New Store-Logo produktive
Arbeitssessions ein.
What has long been referred to as
a work-life-balance, today is much
more: New work. It is about turning
work into a motor of our personal development.
What employees need is
room for inspiration, creativity, intellectual
exchange, and for networking
both with colleagues and business
partners and customers. Our Jobs
should provide the opportunity to
experience all that on a daily basis.
When entering the New Store Office
in the heart of Berlin, the air of the
new generation of working is omnipresent.
The New Store logo placed
over the beautiful reception desk gets
employees and guests in the mood for
productive work sessions.
BUT FIRST,
COFFEE
Ein alltägliches Mantra für all die produktiven
Kaffeejunkies. Viel schöner
als am eigenen Schreibtisch schmeckt
der Kaffee mit den Kollegen im New
Store-Café, das Teil unseres Office-
Konzepts ist und im Eingangsbereich
dazu einlädt, den Tag mit gutem Kaffee
zu beginnen oder sich zwischendurch
entspannt zurückzuziehen.
But first, coffee – an everyday mantra
for all the productive coffee junkies.
Instead of drinking it at the own desk,
though, it should better be enjoyed
with the colleagues at New Store Café,
which is part of dan pearlman’s office
concept for New Store. The perfect
place to start your day right or for a
relaxing break.
INNOVATIVE IDEAS
AND FRESH MINDS
Behind the reception the heart of the office can be spotted:
The arena is a multifunctional, hybrid room in the
room, which can be separated from the office by glass
facades and is maximally convertible. In an increasingly
fast and digital daily working routine, innovative ideas
and fresh minds are absolutely indispensable. To achieve
this, employers have to make sure their employees have
enough room for declaration, relaxation and physical activity.
The arena provides seating areas, Ping-Pong tables
and a badminton field.
NEW WORK CULTURE
kommt vom Berliner Tape Art Collective Tape
gestalteten New Work Space sein kann.
And much more: Technically at the leading edge, it can
be flexibly converted into an area for lectures, workshops,
think tanks and events of all kinds in the course of the
day. After a regenerating break, the food market invites
the employees to cook and eat together. The offices are
both technically and ergonomically perfectly equipped
and allow productive work. Moreover, the Berlin-based
tape art collective Tape That provided the office with the
artistic inspiration the employees need. New Store is a
perfect example of the emerging new working culture
that has its own dynamics and requirements. And a perfect
example of how meaningful and inspiring New Work
can be if the workplace satisfies the needs of a company
and its employees.
How do you engage employees and
how do they become brand ambassadors?
Mercedes-Benz’s internal
branding is a focal point of the company’s
brand strategy. Since 2010, dan
pearlman has, in collaboration with the
Brand Management Mercedes-Benz
and long ranging, emotionally
the brand. To reach as many employees
as possible, the measurements
correlate between content and strategy.
TOUCH THE FUTURE
They gain an appreciation of the brand’s strong foundation,
as well as historical connections that even Mercedes-Benz
connoisseurs will be surprised to learn. At
the heart of it all is an interactive Future Table which, in
combination with a large LED wall, opens up a wealth of
in-depth knowledge, providing enlightening insights into
the future positioning and relevance of a brand that operates
in the context of mobility and social transformation.
KNOWLEDGE
COMMITMENT
ACCESSIBILITY
Es geht darum zu fragen, zu hinterfragen
und zu diskutieren und dadurch
die Themen für sich anzunehmen, um
als Markenbotschafter die Marke nach
innen und außen repräsentieren zu
können und im täglichen Handeln zu
reflektieren. Über dreißig Abteilungen
und Bereiche der Daimler AG haben
dabei die beeindruckenden Inhalte für
den Brand Space geliefert und bei der
Umsetzung mitgewirkt.
By questioning, investigating and discussing,
participants internalize these
topics so that they can then act as
brand ambassadors, representing the
brand internally and externally and reflecting
it in their day-to-day activities.
More than 30 departments and divisions
of Daimler AG provided spectacular
content for the brand space and
helped turn it into a reality.
BRAND SPACE
Im Mercedes-Benz Brand Space lernen
die Mitarbeiter, wie wichtig es
ist, eine starke Marke zu entwickeln
und welch vielschichtige Facetten
eine starke Marke ausmachen kann.
Starke Marken sprechen die menschlichen
Sinne intensiv an und lösen
dadurch starke Gefühle aus. Genau
dies können die Teilnehmer über die
Kombination und Komposition von
Sound, Duft, Materialoberflächen und
diversen visuellen medialen Reizen in
verdichteter Form mit allen Sinnen
erleben.
In the Mercedes-Benz brand space,
employees learn about the many different
facets that go into a strong
brand, and the importance of cultivating
one. Strong brands possess a
powerful sensory appeal, and so they
evoke intense emotions. Through the
combination and composition of
sounds, smells and surface materials,
together with a wide range of visual
media, training participants experience
that power with all their senses,
in concentrated form.
VISIONARY
DESIGN
Entstanden ist ein Markenschulungsraum,
der nicht nur durch seine visionäre
Mercedes-Benz Architektur-
und Designsprache, sondern vor
allem durch den in einer durchgehenden
Story-Line aufeinander abgestimmten
Brand-Content besticht.
Ein großes Dankeschön geht an das
dan pearlman Team um Prof. Marcus
Fischer und Thorsten Kadel sowie
Nicole Gietz für Strategie, Design &
Experience und Gesamtkoordination.
The result is a brand training facility
where fascination is generated not
just by the company’s visionary architectural
and design language, but
also – and most importantly – by the
ongoing storyline created by coordinated
brand content. Many thanks go
to the dan pearlman Strategy, Design
über emotionale Relevanz
von Marken für Menschen
Welche Herausforderungen haben
Marken heute?
In einem globalisierten Wettbewerb
ist der Kampf um die Kunden allein
über den Preis oder die Qualität schon
lange nicht mehr nachhaltig zu gewinnen.
Die Digitalisierung hat das Kräfteverhältnis
zwischen Anbietern und
Kunden grundlegend verändert. Informationen,
Meinungen und Angebote
der Wettbewerber sind auf einen Klick
verfügbar. Marken und Unternehmen
stehen stark unter Druck. Schnellere
Produktzyklen, immer mehr Kanäle,
immer mehr Touchpoints und eine
immer stärkere digitale und globale
Vernetzung erhöhen die Komplexität
bei der Marken- und Unternehmensführung.
Bleibt der Mensch dabei auf der Strecke?
Im Gegenteil! Der Mensch wird zum
wirklich differenzierenden Faktor! Nur
wenn wir die Menschen (wieder) in
den Mittelpunkt stellen, können Marken
mit ihren Kunden eine authentische,
weil reale und emotionale Beziehung
eingehen. Und darauf kommt
es letztendlich an. Denn entscheidend
für das Markenerlebnis – gerade in kritischen
Situationen und disruptiven
Zeiten – ist der Faktor Mensch, also
die Interaktion von Mensch zu Mensch,
zwischen Mitarbeiter und Kunde. Ich
bin der Meinung, dass Markenloyalität
heute nur noch über eine „echte“
Beziehung gesichert werden kann.
Genau dabei ist das Verhalten der
Mitarbeiter – nicht nur in Dienstleistungsverhältnissen
im engeren Sinn
– von zentraler Bedeutung. Der Mitarbeiter
ist es, der das Markenerlebnis
entscheidend prägt und oft durch sein
Verhalten den Ausschlag gibt, ob sich
ein Kunde gegen oder für eine Marke
entscheidet.
Macht es einen Unterschied, ob der
Mensch als Kunde oder Mitarbeiter
gesehen wird?
Letztendlich sollte sich das Markenerlebnis
für Kunden und Mitarbeiter
im Kern nicht unterscheiden. Ein
konsistentes Markenerlebnis an allen
Touchpoints der Marke gelingt, wenn
der Mensch bei der Markenstärkung
eine Hauptrolle spielt. Nur so werden
Marken zu einem einmaligen und
ganzheitlichen Erlebnis, das einen
Mehrwert für Menschen schafft – und
zwar für Kunden wie für Mitarbeiter.
Nur wenn die Mitarbeiter die Marke
für sich angenommen haben, sind sie
bereit, sie auch authentisch zu leben
und ihre Botschafter zu sein. Und nur
dann können auch die Kunden die
Marke genau so authentisch erleben.
Letztendlich müssen beide – Mitarbeiter
und Kunden - rational überzeugt
und emotional begeistert werden.
Damit Marken diese Aufgabe tatsächlich
gelingt, dafür ist letztendlich
der Mensch entscheidend. Die zentrale
Rolle von Mitarbeitern und Kunden
diskutiere ich auch in meinem
Thorsten Kadel, Senior Strategic Director
Board at dan pearlman Markenarchitektur,
about brands’ emotional
relevance for people
Which challenges face brands today?
In a globalized competition, prizing
and quality alone don’t win customers.
Digitalization has fundamentally
changed the relative strength of suppliers
and customers. Information,
opinions, and offers by competitors
are available with a click. Brands and
companies face intense pressure.
Faster product cycles, ever more
channels, more touch points and
growing digital and global networking
increase the complexity of brand
and company management.
Do people fall by the wayside?
To the contrary! People are becoming
the differentiating factor! Only if
we put people (back) in focus, brands
can develop authentic relationships
with their customers because they are
real and emotional. And that is what
matters. The factor people, meaning
person-to-person and customer-client
interaction, is pivotal for the brand
experience, especially in critical situations
and disruptive times. I think that
today, brand loyalty can only be secured
with a “real” relationship. And
for that, employee behavior – not only
the service relationship in a narrow
sense – is of central importance. It’s
the employee who is key in shaping
the brand experience. With their behavior,
employees often tip the scale
if customers decide for or against a
brand.
Is there a difference in viewing
the people as customers or employees?
After all, the brand experience of customers
and employees should not differ
at its core. A consistent brand experience
along all touch points of a
brand is only possible when people
play the main role in brand equity.
Only in this way, brands become holistic
and one-of-a-kind experiences
that create added value for people –
customers and employees. Employees
have to embrace the brand. Only then,
they are ready to live it authentically
and become brand ambassadors. And
only then, customers can experience
the brand authentically as well. Eventually,
both employees and customers
have to be rationally convinced
and emotionally excited. For brands
to realize this task, people are key. I
also discuss this central role of employees
and customers in the article
SCHWÄBISCH
HALL
>BRAND HOME
Heimat ist eines der wichtigsten Elemente
des Lebens. Was aber genau ist
Heimat? Die Antwort auf diese Frage
ist individuell. Fest steht jedenfalls,
dass Heimat generationsübergreifend
für jeden relevant ist. Dabei handelt
es sich um ein eher imaginäres Konstrukt,
eine physisch nicht greifbare
Vision und Interpretation dessen, wo
und wie wir uns zu Hause fühlen. Die
Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall ermöglicht
Menschen seit Jahrzehnten
erfolgreich vermitteln. Das
Markenhaus der Bausparkasse Schwäbisch
Hall ist somit in der Lage, sowohl
die Employee Experience als
auch die Customer Experience effektiv
und nachhaltig zu formen und zu
optimieren.
Home is one of the most significant
aspects of our lives. But what exactly
is home? The answer to this question
depends on the person. What is certain
is that having one’s own home is
relevant throughout all generations.
Where and how we feel at home can
sometimes be a physically intangible
concept. For decades, the Bausparkasse
Schwäbisch Hall has allowed us
to create the most important places
of our lives: our home. It was time to
create a home for the brand itself. dan
pearlman took over the interior design
and implementation of the BSH
Brand House, an interactive place that
communicates the brand’s values to
20.000 visitors annually and allows
customers and employees alike to
identify with the company and their
product portfolio. The result is a tangible
experience which gives the clients
the possibility to explore and communicate
their own interpretation of
home. It is also a place to have employee
trainings in order to convey
brand values and its importance for
daily work. This way, the Brand House
enables the employees to understand
and implement the brand promise
“Creating and maintaining a home”.
This allows the employees to become
brand ambassadors who effectively
convey the brand values to the clients.
The Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall
Brand House is therefore able to successfully
and longlastingly shape and
optimize both the Employee Experience
and the Customers Experience.
THE STORY
Indem Werte, wie etwa Fürsorglichkeit,
Bodenständigkeit und Genossenschaft
interaktiv und spielerisch inszeniert
werden, spricht das Markenhaus
auch jüngere Zielgruppen an. Damit
wird Mitarbeitern, Gästen und Kunden
das eher traditionelle Thema der
eigenen vier Wände und somit das
Markenversprechen und die kommunikative
Positionierung „Heimat
schaffen und erhalten“ generationsübergreifend
vermittelt.
By interactively and playfully incorporating
traditional values like “caring”,
“down to earth”, and “co-operative”,
the Schwäbisch Hall Brand
House addresses younger target
groups. This way, the traditional
topic of building a house and thus
the brand promise and communicative
positioning, »Creating and
maintaining a home«, is conveyed
to employees and clients from all
generations.
Interaktive Exponate sprechen alle Sinne an und vermitteln
darüber die Markenwerte des Unternehmens. Das Heimatband
als umlaufende Kommunikationsfläche schafft durch
persönliche Dinge wie Fotos, Notizen, Zitate und Postkarten
einen direkten Bezug zu den Erfolgsgeschichten
der Bausparer.
Here, interactive elements and a rich variety of objects
appeal to all the senses. Aromas and silhouettes invite
one to explore and awaken highly personal memories and
associations on the theme of home.
THE CULTURE
OF WORK
DAN PEARLMAN — THE NEW WORK EXPERIENCE
CREATING CORPORATE CULTURE
Marcus Fischer, Creative Director in
der dan pearlman Group und Professor
für Markenführung, über die Bedeutung
einer ganzheitlichen Unternehmenskultur.
Was genau soll „The Culture of
Work“ ausdrücken?
Generell geht es um die Einbindung
von Mitarbeitern in das Gesamtgefüge
eines Unternehmens. Mitarbeiter
schaffen mit ihrer Arbeit Werte und
tragen zum Wert eines Unternehmens
entscheidend bei. Wie erfolgreich sie
den Wert eines Unternehmens mit
ihrer Arbeit mehren, hängt aber heute
nicht mehr allein von der Höhe des
Gehaltschecks ab, sondern von der
Bewertung der eigenen Arbeit. Damit
definiert der Mitarbeiter den Wert
des eigenen Tuns und schließlich den
Wert des eigenen Selbst. Unternehmen
können den Kampf um die besten
Köpfe nicht über die Stellschraube
Geld gewinnen, sondern müssen ihren
Mitarbeitern Unternehmensziele bieten,
mit denen sie sich identifizieren
und für die sie täglich als Markenbotschafter
tätig sein wollen.
Wie können Unternehmen
dies schaffen?
Unternehmen in gesättigten Märkten
dürfen nicht länger nur auf Gewinnmaximierung
setzen. Sie brauchen
Ziele, die Sinn stiften und ein positives
Wertegefüge repräsentieren. Darunter
verstehen wir die ethische Verantwortung
von Unternehmen, die sich sogar
als unternehmerische Pflicht vor allem
für global agierende Unternehmen begreifen
lässt, etwas an die Gesellschaft
zurückzugeben. Als Internal Branding
& New Work Spezialisten arbeiten wir
gemeinsam mit Unternehmen an einer
solchen Strategie, die dann als Internal
Branding & Corporate Culture Kampagne
alle Mitarbeiter einbindet. Wir wissen:
Die Investition in Mitarbeiter ist
eine Investition in den Wert der Marke
und die wiederum steht in direktem
Zusammenhang mit dem Unternehmenswert.
Jede Maßnahme, die auf
Internal Branding und Corporate Culture
abzielt ist besser als gar keine.
Ist mit Corporate Culture nicht
auch ein schöner Arbeitsort gemeint?
Wertschätzung gegenüber den Mitarbeitern
beginnt selbstverständlich
mit den drei großen L: Licht, Luft,
Lärm. Wenn das Arbeitsumfeld den
Menschen gut tut und alle arbeitsrechtlichen
und arbeitsphysiologischen
Rahmenbedingungen erfüllt,
lässt sich darauf hervorragend aufbauen.
Jenseits aller Funktionalitäten,
arbeiten Menschen natürlich auch
lieber an einem gut gestalteten Ort,
der in Bezug auf Design, Organisation
und Ausstattung die Bedürfnisse der
Mitarbeiter in den Mittelpunkt stellt.
Raumerlebnis und Verhalten stehen
dabei in direktem Zusammenhang.
In erster Linie wird daher nicht ein
Raumkonzept sondern ein Kommunikationskonzept
für die Kommunikation
zwischen Arbeitgeber und Arbeitnehmer
geplant. Am Ende entstehen
ganzheitliche Identitätskonzepte, die
zum Unternehmen und zur Marke passen
und sich zum Bespiel klar in einer
Campus-Struktur oder den Markenräumen
bis hin zur Unternehmenskantine
widerspiegeln müssen.
Werden Arbeitswelten durch die
Digitalisierung überflüssig?
Die Zukunft der Arbeitswelten wird
stark durch die Digitalisierung geprägt
sein. Wir werden eine brückenlosen
und fluide Verschmelzung von analog
und digital erleben; auch neurologische
Schnittstellen werden immer
interessanter. Dennoch: Menschen
leben in einer physischen Welt. Sie
wollen echte Erlebnisse. Inspirationen
und Kreativität entstehen vor allem
durch reale Begegnungen. Auch zum
Arbeiten werden sie weiterhin physische
Orte aufsuchen. Diese Art der
Arbeitskultur gilt es zu pflegen.
THE CULTURE
OF WORK
DAN PEARLMAN — THE NEW WORK EXPERIENCE
CREATING CORPORATE CULTURE
Marcus Fischer, Creative Director at
dan pearlman Group and Professor for
Brand Management about the meaning
of a holistic corporate culture
What exactly does “The Culture of
Work” express?
Generally, the involvement of employees
in a company creates the overall
structure. Employees shape values
with their work and crucially contribute
to the value of a company. How
successfully they increase a company’s
value with their work no longer
depends solely on the salary’s amount,
but on how they value their own work.
Thus, the employee defines the value
of one's own actions and finally the
value of one's self. Companies can
not win the battle for the best minds
by offering money only. They have to
offer their employees business goals
that align with their identity and which
makes them want to act as a brand
ambassador.
How can companies achieve this?
Companies in mature markets may no
longer rely only on maximizing profits.
They need goals that create meaning
and stand for a positive system of values.
Here, we feel an ethical responsibility
of businesses to give society
something back. This responsibility
could even be understood as an entrepreneurial
duty, especially for globally
present companies. Being Internal
Branding & New Work Specialists, we
elaborate those strategies together
with the company, which then serves
as an internal branding and corporate
culture campaign able to involve all
their employees. We know that investing
in the employees means investing
in the brand’s value and therefore investing
in the company’s value. Every
measure aiming for internal branding
and corporate culture is better than
none.
Doesn’t corporate culture
mainly refer to beautiful workspaces?
First of all, the three major atmospherical
themes light, air, and noise
play a big role in expressing appreciation
toward the employees. A good
start is when the workspace meets
the employees’ needs, the physiological
needs, and the legal framework
is fulfilled. Putting functionality aside,
people of course prefer working at
a well-designed, well-organized and
well-equipped place, which focuses
on the employees’ needs. Thereby the
spatial experience and the behavior
are strongly connected. What has to
be created is an overall concept of
identity which suits the brand and can
be recognized throughout
the space.
Will the digitalization make work
environments superfluous?
Surely digitalization will have a strong
impact on the future of work. Analogue
and digital will merge into one
hybrid space including an increase of
neurological interfaces. Nevertheless,
people live in a physical world. They
long for real experiences. Inspiration
and creativity mainly rise due to real
encounters. Because of this, employees
will continue working in physical
locations. It is important to cultivate
this kind of working culture.
DAN PEARLMAN — THE NEW WORK EXPERIENCE
Was Marken wie BMW, MINI und
Rolls-Royce ausmacht und wie sie gemanagt
werden, vermittelt die BMW
Group seit 2003 ihren Mitarbeitern
und Führungskräften am Hauptstandort
in München. In der von dan pearlman
entwickelten Brand Academy haben
seitdem über 20.000 Mitarbeiter
die Faszination dieser Marken erlebt.
Das Zusammenspiel von stationären
und mobilen Konzepten zum Transfer
von markenrelevantem Wissen
und Werten innerhalb eines weltweiten
Netzwerks erlaubt und garantiert
eine stimmige Markenführung auf allen
Ebenen und in allen Märkten. Die
Brand Academy als besondere Form
der Markendidaktik legt den Grundstein
dafür, dass Marken konsequent
und konsistent in Unternehmen gelebt
werden. Auf diese Weise entwickeln
die Mitarbeiter eine emotionale Bindung
zur eigenen Marke, die für die
Entwicklung des Unternehmens überaus
relevant ist.
Since 2003, the BMW Group has communicated
the meaning of its brand
and how it will be managed to its employees
and management in its headquarters
in Munich. Since then, more
than 20,000 employees experienced
the brand’s fascination in the Brand
Academy dan pearlman developed.
The interaction of stationary and mobile
concepts for the transfer of relevant
brand knowledge and values
within a global network allows and
guarantees a consistent brand management
at all levels and in all markets.
The Brand Academy is a particular
form of brand didactics and makes
sure that brands are consistently followed
and applied in companies. This
way, the employees develop an emotional
attachment to their own brand,
which is highly relevant for the company’s
development in the future.
NEW WORK
REINVENTING WORKSPACES
Nicole Gietz, New Work Expertin,
Senior Architektin & Member of the
Management Board, über die Arbeitsräume
der Zukunft
Brauchen wir in einer digitalen Zukunft
noch physische Büroräume?
Das ist eine gute Frage! Die Frey-Osborn-Studie
hat ermittelt, dass 59%
der deutschen Jobs digitalisierbar
sind. Mit ihrem Wegfall wird also eine
Menge Bürofläche frei. Auf der anderen
Seite haben Menschen nicht nur
beim Arbeiten eine Ur-Sehnsucht nach
Gemeinschaft und Austausch. Diese
Sehnsucht kann nur ein physischer Ort
befriedigen. Gerade eine digitalisierte
Wirtschaft braucht also physische
Kontaktpunkte. Diesen Trend können
wir vor allem anhand des Erfolgs und
der wachsenden Anzahl von Coworking
Formaten belegen. Die Antwort
auf die Frage lautet, ja, wir brauchen
zukünftig Offices, wenn diese als New
Work Spaces konzipiert sind.
Wie sieht denn ein perfekter New
Work Space aus?
Es reicht nicht mehr aus, nur einen
Büroraum zu bauen. Vielmehr kommt
Format an. Die Bedürfnisse und
Wünsche der Nutzer und Zielgruppen
stehen dabei im Mittelpunkt und müssen
erfüllt werden. Bürostandorte von
Morgen müssen daher zu holistischen
Destinationen werden.
Ein New Work Space bietet Freiräume
für Kreativität und Entfaltung
der eigenen Persönlichkeit und unterstützt
dabei die Entwicklung der Mitarbeiter
in ihren individuellen Kompetenzprofilen.
Er vernetzt sie mit
transdisziplinären Teams und wird
zum human Interface und zum Impulsgeber
des Voneinander-Lernens.
New Work Spaces sind Erfahrungsund
Lernwelten, die Menschen eines
oder verschiedener Unternehmen
oder auch unterschiedliche Freelancer
physisch an einem Ort vereinen
und in dieser Gemeinschaft einen Vorsprung
gegenüber der Außenwelt formulieren.
Was ganz konkret können Unternehmen
tun, um das Thema New
Work bei sich zu implementieren?
Zuallererst braucht es die Erkenntnis,
dass New Work nicht Frischobst und
Rückenschule ist, sondern Teilhabe
der Mitarbeiter an Unternehmensentscheidungen
und deren Begeisterung
sowie ein gutes Gefühl in Bezug
auf Arbeitgeber und Arbeit selbst,
welches es zu fördern gilt. Transparenz,
Offenheit und Mitbestimmung –
Unternehmen müssen Verantwortung
für die Weiterentwicklung und Transformation
des Unternehmens und der
Mitarbeiter übernehmen. Dieser New
Work Culture müssen die New Work
Spaces folgen. Zukünftig wird es aufgrund
der stetig steigenden Komplexität
von Projekten immer mehr interdisziplinäre
Projektarbeit geben. Dafür
müssen Räume und Orte jenseits des
klassischen Schreibtisches geschaffen
werden. Neben den Standards wie
Luft, Lärm und Licht braucht es eine
Multifunktionalität und Flexibilität in
der Raumnutzung mit klaren Features
wie Magnetwänden, neuester Technik
und modularen Möbeln. Ein Raumkonzept
muss für verschiedene Arbeitsweisen
innerhalb eines Arbeitstages
mit einer erstklassigen Aufenthaltsqualität
gestaltet werden.
Welche Priorität sollte das Thema
New Work bei Unternehmen einnehmen?
Dazu möchte ich gerne Jörg Dohmen,
Head of Brand and Customer Institutes,
BMW Group zitieren: „Marken
gehen ins Fitnessstudio oder auf den
Friedhof!” So langsam wie heute wird
Veränderung nie wieder sein. Nutzen
REINVENTING WORKSPACES
Nicole Gietz, New Work Expert, Senior
Architect & Member of the Management
Board, about workspaces of
the future
Do we need physical office spaces
in a digital future?
That’s a good question. The Frey-Orsborn
study found that 59% of jobs in
Germany can be digitized. With their
cessation, on the one hand, a lot of office
space would be left empty. On the
other hand, people, not only at work,
have a primal desire for community
and exchange. This desire can only be
satisfied in the physical space. Thus,
a digitized economy especially needs
physical points of contact. We can
prove this trend particularly with the
success and the growing number of
coworking formats. Thus, the answer
to the initial question is yes, we do
need office spaces in the future when
they are conceptualized as New Work
spaces.
How does a perfect
New Work spaces look like?
It’s no longer enough to just build an
office space. Above all it is about the
right mix and the right format. The
needs and wishes of users and target
groups are in the center and have to
be fulfilled. Tomorrow’s office locations
need to become holistic destinations.
A New Work space offers room
for creativity and the development of
one’s personality. This also nourishes
the employees’ competence profiles.
It connects them with transdisciplinary
teams and becomes a human
interface and instigator of collaborative
learning. New Work spaces are
worlds of experience and learning that
unite people of one or many companies
as well as freelancers in one physical
space and that, as a community,
creating an advantage over the outer
world.
What exactly can companies do to
implement the topic New Work?
First of all, they need to be aware that
New Work does not mean fresh fruit
and back therapy training but participation
of employees in corporate decisions
as well as their enthusiasm and
a good feeling towards their employer
and their work as such. This needs to
be fostered. Transparency, openness,
and participation – companies need
to take on responsibility to further
develop and transform the company
and its employees. New Work spaces
need to follow this New Work culture.
Prospectively, there will be more interdisciplinary
project work due to
continuously increasing project complexity.
Therefore, spaces and places
need to be created that go beyond
a traditional desk. Next to respecting
standards like air, noise, and light,
spaces need to be multifunctional and
flexible with clear features like magnet
boards, newest technology, and modular
furniture. There is a necessity for
space concepts that support the different
practice modes of a work day
and that create superb amenity.
Which priority should the topic
New Work have for companies?
I’d like to cite Jörg Dohmen, Head of
Brand and Customer Institutes, BMW
Group here: “Brands either go to the
gym or the graveyard!” Change will
never happen as slowly as today. Use
this time!
Your creative presentation
style needs a stage?
You can’t hear yourself think
at your office desk?
You and your team need
space for creative sparks?
SPACE FOR CREATIVITY
DAN PEARLMAN — THE NEW WORK EXPERIENCE
MICHAEL O. SCHMUTZER
Michael O. Schmutzer ist ein New
Work Pionier. Seit über 25 Jahren entwickelt
er Immobilienprojekte. 2008
gründete er in Nürnberg sein Coworking-Unternehmen
Design Offices
und wurde dabei von dan pearlman
beraten und unterstützt. Mittlerweile
gibt es 25 Design Offices Standorte
in Deutschland und der New Work
Pionier expandiert demnächst in die
DACH-Region. Als einer der führenden
Anbieter für Serviced Offices in
Deutschland bietet Design Offices
Raum für konzentriertes Arbeiten
und kreativen Austausch. Michael O.
Schmutzer selbst spricht von „modernen
Arbeitslandschaften“, wo man
alles findet, was man zum täglichen
Arbeiten braucht. Dazu gehören flexible
Arbeitsplätze, multifunktionale
Meetingräume, gerade auch für agile
Workshop-Formate, Scrum oder Barcamps
sowie Eventflächen für entspanntes
Networking. Der besondere
Mix entsteht dabei in der perfekten
Kombination aus professioneller Business-Umgebung
mit Rundum-Service
und Start-up Atmosphäre. Das Motto
von Design Offices lautet, nicht „nur“
einen Arbeitsplatz, sondern Raum
für Innovation bieten. Design Offices
verstehet sich ganz klar als Enabler
für New Work, agiles Arbeiten und
Innovation. Dabei trifft Michael O.
Schmutzer mit seinem Konzept ins
Schwarze, denn aktuelle Studien gehen
davon aus, dass sich der Coworking-Markt
weiter stark entwickeln
und es bis Ende 2018 bereits eine
Millionen Coworker in Deutschland
geben wird. Raus aus dem eigenen
Büro, neue Impulse bekommen, andere
Menschen treffen. Es steht außer
Frage, dass man manchmal einfach die
ausgetretenen Pfade verlassen muss.
Insofern ist Design Offices auch eine
Option für alle Unternehmen, die ihre
Mitarbeiter – ob als Workshop-Gruppe
für einen Tag oder als Projekt-Team
für sechs Monate – zum Coworking
schicken möchten, um sich so dem
neuen Arbeiten praktisch zu nähern.
dan pearlman konzipierte die erste
Generation der innovativen Design
Offices Arbeitsräume und gestaltete
darüber hinaus das passende Mobiliar
für die Innenausstattung der Flächen.
Michael O. Schmutzer is a New Work
pioneer. For more than 25 years, he
has developed real estate projects.
In 2008, he founded his coworking
company Design Offices in Nuremberg
and was supported and advised
by dan pearlman. By now, there are
25 Design Offices locations in Germany
and the New Work pioneer is
going to expand in the DACH region
soon. As one of the leading providers
of serviced offices in Germany,
Design Offices offers space for focused
work and creative exchange.
Michael O. Schmutzer speaks about
“modern work landscapes” where one
can find everything that is needed
for daily work. This includes flexible
workspaces, multifunctional meeting
rooms suitable for agile workshop formats,
scrum or bar camps, and also
event areas for relaxed networking.
This special mix is created by the perfect
combination of a professional
business environment with all-round
services and a startup atmosphere.
The motto of Design Offices is, don’t
“just” offer a workspace but a place
for innovation. Design Offices clearly
understands itself as enabler for New
Work, agile work, and innovation.
Michael O. Schmutzer hits the mark
with his concept. All recent studies assume
that the coworking market will
increasingly develop and that there
will be about one million coworkers in
Germany by the end of 2018. Get out
of your own office space, be inspired
by new impulses, and meet other people.
It’s no question that one sometimes
simply has to leave well-trodden
paths. In this sense, Design Offices is
also an option for all companies that
want to send their employees to coworking
– as workshop group for one
day or as project team for six months
– to approach New Work in a practical
way. dan pearlman conceptualized
the first generation of the innovative
Design Offices workspaces and designed
the well-orchestrated furniture.
DAN PEARLMAN — THE NEW WORK EXPERIENCE
VAN BO LE-MENTZEL
Der deutsche Architekt und DIY-Experte
Van Bo Le-Mentzel, 1977 in Laos
geboren, motiviert dazu, selbst Hand
anzulegen. Seine vom Bauhaus inspirierte
Selbstbau-Designmöbel-Kollektion
mit dem provozierenden Namen
„Hartz-IV Möbel“ ist gesellschaftskritisch
und radikal innovativ zugleich.
Van Bo Le-Mentzel hat damit (nicht
nur) Menschen mit wenig Geld aber
Stilbewusstsein im Visier. Die Idee zu
den DIY-Möbeln mit geringem Kostenfaktor
kam Van Bo Le-Mentzel als
er selbst von staatlicher Unterstützung
lebte und nach einem Tischlerei-Kurs
an der Volkshochschule mit
selbstgebauten Möbeln zu experimentieren
begann. Van Bo wurde mit dem
Projekt Teil der Sharing Economy,
denn seine Baupläne verschickt er
kostenlos auf Anfrage. Bezahlt wird
dafür mit Bildern, Berichten und Likes
in den Sozialen Medien. 2010 stellte er
eine 21 Quadratmeter große „Hartz-IV-
Wohnung“ vor. Wenig später entstand
daraus die „100-Euro-Wohnung“ als
ein sogenanntes Tiny House. Das 6,4
m 2 kleine, auf einen Anhänger aufgestellte
Haus umfasst Küche, Bad,
Büro, Schlafzimmer und Wohnstube
in einem. Das von ihm selbst betitelte
„Co-Beeing-House“ entstand auch
unter dem Einfluss der aktuellen Entwicklung
von knapper werdendem
innerstädtischen Wohnraum und der
Flüchtlingskrise. Die Tiny Houses fungieren
immer wieder auch als New
Work Spaces. Van Bo Le-Mentzel und
dan pearlman sind seit langem verbunden.
Van Bo arbeitete als fester,
später als freier Mitarbeiter für die
Agenturgruppe, die den Kreativen bei
vielen freien Projekten unterstützte.
The German architect and DIY expert
Van Bo Le-Mentzel, born in Laos
in 1977, motivates us to take things
into our own hands. His Bauhaus inspired
DIY furniture collection with
the provoking title “Hartz-IV Möbel”
is socio-critical and at the same time
radically innovative. With this, Van
Bo Le-Mentzel focuses (not only)
on people with tiny money and style
consciousness. The idea of this low
budget DIY furniture arose to Van Bo
Le-Mentzel when he himself was living
on state support and started experimenting
with handmade furniture after
he had finished a course in carpentry
at community college. With this
project, Van Bo became part of the
sharing economy because he sends
out his construction plans on request
and for free. He is rewarded with pictures,
articles and likes on social media.
In 2010, he presented a 21 square
meters “Hartz-IV-flat”. Soon after and
based on this, the “100-euro-flat” developed
as a so-called tiny house. The
6.4 m2 small house is placed on a
trailer and comprises a kitchen, restroom,
office, bedroom, and living
room. The “co-being-house”, as labeled
by Van Bo, also evolved in light
of the current development of scarce
inner-city living space and the refugee
crisis. His latest project is the “Bauhaus
Campus Berlin”, an artistic experiment
with the motto “Study, Build,
Research.” The temporary tiny house
campus is supposed to provide possibility
spaces for democratic utopias
created by people with and without
German nationality. Time and again,
the tiny houses also function as New
Work spaces. Van Bo Le-Mentzel and
dan pearlman have been connected
for a long time. He started as an employee
and later continued working
as freelancer for the agency group,
which has supported the creative
mind in many free projects.
Die Digitalisierung wird unser Leben in
den nächsten 20 Jahren stärker verändern
als in den letzten 200 Jahren.
Diese Veränderung umfasst alle Bereiche
unseres Lebens – unser Arbeitsleben,
unsere Freizeit und die Bedeutung
von Unternehmen und Marken.
Echte Erlebnisse spielen in einer digitalisierten
und globalisierten Zukunft
eine herausragende Rolle, denn
sie verbinden Menschen miteinander
und schaffen emotionale Beziehungen
zwischen Menschen und Marken.
Wir glauben, dass die Herausforderungen
der Zukunft weder durch klassische
Agenturen und Unternehmensberater
noch durch ein Unternehmen
allein gemeistert werden können.
Unternehmen müssen langfristige Beziehungen
zu ihren Kunden aufbauen
und ihnen an jedem Touchpoint ein
relevantes Erlebnis bieten. Deshalb
haben wir die dan pearlman Group als
Gruppe spezialisierter, inhabergeführter
Boutique-Agenturen mit einem
gemeinsam Versprechen gegründet:
Wir machen Marken zum Erlebnis
und Erlebnisse zur Marke.
Die dan pearlman Group hilft Unternehmen,
die Bedürfnisse von Menschen
zu verstehen und entwickelt
dan
Pearlman
Group
aus diesem Verständnis heraus Lösungen,
von der Strategie über die
Kreation bis zur Umsetzung und darüber
hinaus, die Marken für Kunden
und Mitarbeiter erlebbar machen.
Das integrierte Erlebnis steht dabei
im Mittelpunkt und so verbinden die
beteiligten Unternehmen integrativ
und cross-medial die gesamte Customer
Journey zu einem einzigartigen,
emotionalen Markenerlebnis. Mit
einem Netzwerk von Partnern ist die
dan pearlman Group der Generalübernehmer
für strategische Kreativität -
von der Strategie über die Kreation
bis zur Umsetzung in „Bricks & Bytes.“
With digitalization, our lives over the
next 20 years will change more than
they did in the last 200. This transition
comprises all spheres of our life
- our working life, leisure activities
and the meaning of companies and
brands. Real experiences play a significant
role in a digitized and globalized
future since they connect people
and generate emotional relationships
between people and brands. We believe
that the challenges of the future
can neither be mastered by classical
agencies and consultancies nor by
a company itself. Companies need
to establish long-term relationships
with their customers and offer authentic
experiences at every touch
point. Therefore, we founded the dan
pearlman Group as a group of specialized
and owner-managed boutique
agencies with a shared promise:
We turn brands into experiences and
experiences into brands.
The dan pearlman Group helps companies
understand the needs of people
and develops solutions, from
strategy to creation, realization and
beyond, to make brands experienceable
for customers and employees.
We put integrated experience in focus.
By doing so, participating companies
connect the whole customer journey
in an integrative way and across
media to a unique and emotional
brand experience. With our network
of partners, the dan pearlman Group
becomes the general contractor for
strategic creativity - from strategy to
creation and realization in “Bricks &
Bytes.”
The dan pearlman Group is a group of
specialized businesses that together
create one experience: emotionally,
relevant and economically successful.
The foundation for the dan pearlman
Group was laid by the dan pearlman
brand architecture section, which
is specialized in brand strategy and
brand experience in physical spaces,
and the dan pearlman experience
in zoo and aquarium, park
With the group’s extension by
spring brand ideas, who create communication
concepts as well as creative
campaigns, the dan pearlman
Group designs strategic creativity
concepts along the whole customer
journey. The implementation of these
concepts is realized by both the dan
project management and general
contractors, and beamXR, who integrate
digital technologies like virtual
and augmented reality into a holistic
cross reality experience.
gestalten wollen.
The brand architects are the designers
and creators of brands. Thinking
visionary and seeing the evolution of
a brand in the context of changing
customer needs is the first step for
a successful future of a brand. Brand
architecture, as we understand it, is
more than that: together with companies
and brand managers, we want
to create mutual collaboration processes
for people and the success of
the brand.
Erlebnisarchitektur definiert einzigartige
Orte, an denen individuelle Erlebnisse
und Begegnungen ermöglicht
werden. Wir reduzieren Architektur
nicht auf ihre Struktur, sondern definieren
sie durch eine bewusste Abfolge
von Raum, Licht, Inhalten sowie
Indoor - und Outdoor Erlebnissen mit
den Methoden von Storytelling und
Szenografie. Kurzgesagt: Wir kreieren
Stories.
Experience Architecture defines
unique spaces and places where individual
encounters and experiences
are made possible and curiosity can
unfold. Instead of defining architecture
by its structure, we prefer to define
it through a conscious choice in
the sequence of space, light, content
and experience, indoor and outdoor,
similar to methods used in storytelling
and scenography. In short, we build
stories.
HOW We
WORK
DAN PEARLMAN — THE NEW WORK EXPERIENCE
In den drei Geschäftsfeldern Brand &
Identity, New Work und Destination
& Leisure verbinden wir die Anforderungen
von Menschen, Unternehmen
und Orten. Jedes Geschäftsfeld hat
einen eigenen Fokus, das Wissen und
die Erfahrung aus den einzelnen Bereichen
formen sich darüber hinaus zu
einem zukunftsgerichteten Gesamterlebnis,
welches die Bedürfnisse der
Menschen, der Gesellschaft und der
Unternehmen in einer tragfähigen Zukunftsvision
vereint. Um gemeinsam
mit unseren Kunden, unseren Strategen,
den Kreativen und Umsetzern in
einem agilen Prozess die besten Lösungen
zu entwickeln, haben wir den
4D Prozess entwickelt, der den iterativen
Design-Thinking-Prozess mit
den Anforderungen an effektive Planungs-
und Umsetzungsprozesse verbindet.
Mit einem Netzwerk aus inspirierenden
und kompetenten Denkern
und Machern haben wir für nahezu
jede Herausforderung die passende
Lösung.
In the three business areas Brand &
Identity, New Work and Destination &
Leisure we connect the requirements
of people, companies and places. Every
business area has its own focus.
Together, the knowledge and experiences
from each area form a holistic
and future oriented experience that
unites the needs of people, society
and companies in a viable future vision.
To develop the best solutions
together with our customers, strategist,
creatives and implementers in
an agile process, we created the 4D
process. The 4Ds connect iterative
design thinking with the demands
on effective planning and implementation
processes. With a network of
inspiring and proficient thinkers and
makers, we do have a solution for almost
every challenge.
Mit Internal Branding und Innovation
How do we want to work in the future?
With internal branding and innovation
for the changes of the future
as well as create places and cultures
that connect digitalization and needs
for freedom and community.
BRAND &
IDENTITY
Alles beginnt mit der Frage nach dem
Warum. Der Purpose, die Zukunftsvision
und die Marke sind die Grundlage
für Markenerlebnisse, in denen Kommunikation,
Kampagnen und räumliche
Erlebnisse zu einem emotionalen
Ganzen werden.
Everything starts with the question of
“why”. The purpose, future visions and
the brand itself are the foundation for
brand experiences, where communication,
campaigns and spatial experiences
form a coherent and emotional
whole.
DESTINATION &
Wir sind strategisch-kreativer Partner
