SEA & BOAT RODS
The trend today is for much lighter and slimmer boat rods, the classic example being our unique “Solid C” range - ultra light and super slim.
Voted best new sea fishing product of the year 2005/2006 these rods resemble a light spinning rod in both weight and overall looks. But the
comparisons stop there. The 10/20lb rod, although looking like a very thin spinning rod has accounted for cod over 30lb, conger to over 60lbs
and other huge fish. With all of this said, most boat rods sold are of the normal heavy weight and very sturdily built, giving not as much fun
or contact with the fish, but reassurance to the angler. Boat rods include the very light from 6lb class, up-tiders, standup, and many more,
right up to the 150lb class rods used when trolling for marlin and tuna.
There are many materials used and they vary from fibreglass, graphite and composites right up to the solid carbon rods we introduced to
fishing in 2005. Almost all boat fishing rods are used with a multiplier of one sort or another, although some anglers still prefer to use large
fixed spool reels.
