BILLY KIMMERLY STAY FOCUSED Teddy Bear Toss night can be tough on teams. When the home team scores, teddy bears are thrown on the ice by fans to be donated to a local toy drive. The cause is great, and is well supported, but it does cause one problem. Immediately after scoring the first goal, both teams will have to sit through a lengthy clean up. It could be easy to lose focus during this time. The players need to keep their heads in the game to avoid any loss of intensity when the puck drops again. Giving up a quick goal after the delay would kill any momentum gained from making the bears fly. TIME TO MOVE ON The Frontenacs traded away two key players earlier in the week when Jason Robertson and Jacob Paquette were shipped to Niagara. The remaining players can’t sulk about not having those players in the lineup. This is an opportunity for other players to step up and take on a bigger role with the team. The team was lucky enough to get two quality young players back in the deal. Billy Constantinou and Ian Martin have joined the Frontenacs. It is time for the team to look ahead and work on life after Robertson and Paquette. EMBRACE CHANGE The team on the ice will look very different than the one fans saw on Sunday against Hamilton. Robertson and Paquette are gone and Martin and Constantinou are in. On top of that, Cameron Hough is back from his suspension and there is a chance Paul Larabie could return from his thumb injury. With so much shuffling happening in the lineup, there will be lots of players in new roles. Coaches will be doing some experimenting over the next few weeks to see what combinations work and what players are best suited for certain roles. It’s time for a “yes sir” attitude from the players.
