• Ornament Sale. The Friends of the Library<br />

are taking orders for their annual ornament<br />

sale. The designs feature local<br />

schools—<strong>Madison</strong>-Plains, Westfall, Miami<br />

Trace, Washington Courthouse and Ohio<br />

State University. Order forms are available<br />

at the library and some businesses. Each ornament<br />

costs $10. Payment of cash or check<br />

is due upon placing an order. Orders are due<br />

by Nov. 19. Proceeds go to library programs<br />

and materials.<br />

• Sip and Paint. This fun fundraiser is set<br />

for 2-4 p.m. Dec. 2 at Mount Sterling American<br />

Legion Post 417. Participants will receive<br />

all materials and detailed instructions<br />

on how to paint a winter scene on canvas.<br />

Finger foods and drinks will be available by<br />

donation. The cost of the class instruction<br />

and materials is $30 and due by 2 p.m. Nov.<br />

30. Proceeds go to library programs, materials<br />

and equipment.<br />

• Mr. Scrooge. Columbus Children’s Theater<br />

will present “Mr. Scrooge” at 1 p.m.<br />

Dec. 20, the first day of winter break from<br />

school. The show is free and recommended<br />

for children of all ages.<br />

Pancake Breakfast with Santa<br />

Got pancakes? Better yet, can you catch<br />

pancakes? On Dec. 1 from 8:30 to 11 a.m.,<br />

the London Music Boosters will host their<br />

annual All-You-Can-Catch Pancake Breakfast.<br />

The event will take place in the London<br />

High School commons.<br />

Katie’s Pancakes not only grills the fluffy<br />

goodies right in front of you, they also flip<br />

them on to your plate.<br />

Plates are $5, and what you catch, you<br />

can eat. Sausage, coffee, and orange juice<br />

are included (you do not have to try to catch<br />

those items).<br />

Children and adults can get their photo<br />

taken with Santa for a minimal cost. London<br />

High School’s instrumental and vocal<br />

students will provide entertainment. Students<br />

also will provide free face painting.<br />

Proceeds benefit the London Music<br />

Boosters, a parent organization that supports<br />

vocal and instrumental programs for<br />

grades K-12 at London City Schools.<br />

Plain City Historical Society<br />

The Plain City Historical Society board<br />

meets at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each<br />

month except December at the museum,<br />

105 W. Main St. Meetings are open to the<br />

public. The museum is open Tuesdays and<br />

Saturdays, 10 a.m.-noon, and Thursdays,<br />

noon-3 p.m.<br />

Bring a sweater or t-shirt to decorate. The<br />

library will provide the embellishments.<br />

Closet Thrift Shop, 9800 U.S. Rte. 42 S.,<br />

Plain City, for low-cost shirts. No registration<br />

is required.<br />

• Holiday Open House. The library is<br />

hosting a holiday open house in conjunction<br />

with Plain City’s Christmas Under the<br />

Clock Celebration beginning at 5 p.m. Dec.<br />

1. Festivities include refreshments, live<br />

music from Classical Sounds, and the<br />

Friends of the Library’s book sale. In addition<br />

to books, the sale includes gift items<br />

handcrafted from recycled books including<br />

jewelry, bookmarks, buttons and more.<br />

Can’t make it the night of the open house?<br />

The book and gifts sale continues during<br />

regular library hours the week of Dec. 3.<br />

Public Employee Retirees<br />

The Fayette/<strong>Madison</strong> County Chapter of<br />

Ohio Public Employee Retirees Inc. will<br />

meet at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Fayette<br />

County Commission on Aging (FCCOA),<br />

1179 S. Elm St., Washington Court House.<br />

A table will be reserved for anyone who<br />

wants to eat lunch prior to the meeting at<br />

11:30 a.m. For lunch reservations, call the<br />

FCCOA at (740) 335-2159. Steve Toth of the<br />

Ohio Public Employee Retirees System, will<br />

speak. All retirees are invited to attend and<br />

become a regular member.<br />

Range Township Trustees<br />

The Range Township trustees will meet<br />

at 9 a.m. Dec. 3. Meetings will then resume<br />

their regular schedule of 8 p.m. the first and<br />

third Mondays of the month at the Sedalia<br />

fire house. Meetings are open to the public.<br />

Retired Teachers<br />

The <strong>Madison</strong> County Retired Teachers<br />

Association will meet Dec. 10 at Brennan<br />

Loft, above Wilson Printing & Graphics, 158<br />

S. Main St., London. Lunch is at 11:30 a.m.<br />

followed by Christmas and music-themed<br />

program at 12:30 p.m.<br />

Warm Your Heart Festival<br />

The <strong>Madison</strong>-Plains PTO will host a<br />

Winter Warm Your Heart Festival from 10<br />

a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 8 at the <strong>Madison</strong>-Plains<br />

elementary/intermediate building. Santa,<br />

doughnuts, a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, Secret<br />

Santa Shop and games are planned.<br />

Winter “Wonder” Land<br />

Does the holiday season make you crazy?<br />
