Dec. 1: Celebrating Christmas Under the Clock
On Dec. 1, Uptown Plain City Organization’s (UPCO) Christmas
Under the Clock will take place on Main Street, Chillicothe Street
and Jefferson Avenue in Plain City. In its 17th year, the event is
free and will begin at 5 p.m. with a tree lighting ceremony.
The tree lighting will feature Santa and entertainment by the
Starlight Twirlers. Tree lighting pixies, winners of a coloring contest,
will light the tree.
Immediately following the lighting, Plain City businesses and
organizations will host open houses. Participating businesses will
have maps marking the sites of all of the open houses, activities and
entertainment.
Wagon rides will run between Lovejoy’s Plaza on Main Street
and Yoder’s True Value Hardware where Santa will be available
for photos. Shuttles will move visitors among Jefferson Avenue
businesses. Visitors can park at either end of the festivities and get
back to their cars by wagon or shuttle.
At Lovejoy’s Plaza, UPCO will serve up ham and bean soup. Additional

business prize drawings, children’s crafts, Plain City
Public Library’s book sale, cookie decorating and more.
Among Jefferson Avenue’s offerings are gift baskets,
raffle items, food and warm drinks.
Due to a shortage of UPCO volunteers, Daily Needs
Assistance will present the craft fair. DNA also will host
Plain City Church Fellowship’s interactive nativity
scene.
UPCO will post the activities map in advance on its
Facebook page and website, uptownplaincity.com. The
evening will wrap up around 8 p.m.
Christmas Under the Clock is one event UPCO presents
