Outdoor
Pursuits
The highlight of Outdoor Pursuits for me
has definitely been tramping- it was really
good for our class to get together and become
friends close to the start of the year. I also loved the
winter sports, being able to build a snow cave with
your friends and go skiing on a Monday.
I've really enjoyed all of the different pursuits we
have done this year, but the one I really want to
continue to learn more about is rock climbing.
For me, it's also a good mental challenge as well
as physical, which is an aspect that I find more
interesting when you're in the outdoors.
Kayaking - super gnarly getting thrown about in
the fluids and chucked under the water for a solid
breath-holding extravaganza!
This was my first season snowboarding and I felt
like I learnt a lot from my instructor.
Just have a go at everything and keep an open
mind because even the activities/pursuits you think
you might not like still have super valuable lessons
and awesome learning opportunities.
It is the most amazing experience, and when else
in your life are you going to build a snow cave?
I have learnt about working with people at all
different levels as in each different activity that we
do there is different people that are strong or weak
at them. This meant that people that were stronger
could help the people that needed it.
OP has taught me to be more confident in my
ability and to trust my body more. I feel like now
I can plan my own outdoor trips and know what I
need to ensure it's a success.
Thoroughly enjoyable experience that I would
highly recommend to anyone else. Kia kaha.
It is great fun to get outdoors with your friends,
while learning important skills at the same time.
