All-SWSC. Helped the Griffins to a plethora of shutouts this season. LB: Jake Kramer, junior, LW East 115 tackles, 59 solo, 56 assists, 5 sacks, 14 tackles for a loss, 1 fumble recovery. Those trying to work beyond the Griffins’ line often met Kramer. 22nd Century Media chose the best football student-athletes based on coach recommendations and player statistics in its seven-town southwest suburban coverage area to place them on one super team: Team 22. The team features student-athletes from Lincoln-Way Central, LW East, LW West, Providence Catholic, Andrew, Lockport Township, Tinley Park and Sandburg high schools. This is the defensive squad. The Celtics’ nose guard was the team’s most valuable defensive player. LB: Gus Christensen, senior, LW East 78 tackles, 39 solo, 39 assists, 2 sacks, 26 tackles for a loss, 1 defensive touchdown. The defensive SWSC Athlete of the Year rounds out the East linebackers. DL: Mick Stewart, senior, LW East 45-plus tackles, 10-plus tackles for a loss, 8 sacks, 1 interception, fumble recovery. Stewart helped to make games miserable for opponents’ offenses. LB: Alex Hirschfield, senior, Sandburg 249 career tackles, 100 tackles (season), 3 sacks, 4 tackles for a loss, 1 blocked kick. All-SWSC. The Eagles’ linebacker was a beast who earned All-State honors. Second Team DL: Sean McLaughlin, junior, LW East 43 tackles, 4 sacks, 9 tackles for a loss, 2 forced fumbles.
