JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2019 OHBELOVEDONE.COM CHOOSING YOUR STYLE I think it’s fascinating how everyone seems to have their own style. Even the people that don’t seem to care: they’re “Sloppy Chic.” (Well, maybe not the Chic part . . .) Lately, I felt like I needed to get my own style. But I became confused when I tried to define it. Some days I like being vintage. Others, I’d describe it as classy. Still other days, I’m more eccentric and graphic-designer-y. And during the summer, I don’t mind being a little boho. Some people have a whole color palette they stick to religiously: black and white; only yellow; stick to the wine reds and olives and purples. I’m here to tell you this: you don’t have to have one style. Really! Don’t wake up in the morning and decide not to wear that outfit because it doesn’t match your aesthetic. Some days, you might feel like dressing up a bit more. Wear that dress; rock those high heels; curl your hair for no reason. On days I’m staying home and studying like a crazy person, I always do my makeup and wear a cute outfit because it makes me feel confident (my dad is always like, “Where are you going?! On a date?!”). Polaroid created by Freepik Other days, you might be feeling a little sad, tired, or even cozy (especially when it comes to finals week!). Feel free to wear your favorite t-shirt, a comfy and chunky sweater, and those perfect-for-any-occasion Converse. It’s okay to be boho one day. It’s okay to be a little cozy, “I don’t care” another day. So: forget the aesthetic! go with your gut. OH BELOVED ONE | 35
