Superintendent News
By Dr. Joseph Beeson
Dear Parents:
I receive a weekly update called “The Culture Translator.” The authors basically attempt to keep those of us not
completely “in tune” with modern culture up to date with issues our students are facing. I do recommend it -
though it is at time discomforting to see what our youth have to deal with each day.
Anyway, below is a recent quote from them:
“Your truth”—a phrase that’s entered our lexicon with fervor in recent months and years, thanks to people like
Oprah, the #MeToo movement, and a post-truth political climate. In fact, it’s quite a paradoxical phrase, since it
combines something that can be subjective (“your”) with something historically considered wholly non-subjective
(“truth”). But what do people mean when they say it? Are they referring to something different from “the truth”?
I want to assure you that we at Lake Center Christian School are focused on “the truth.” We believe if something
is true - then the opposite cannot also be true. We do believe some things are false. Our guide in this discussion
is the revealed truth of God in His Word. So while your son or daughter will certainly be introduced (at the appropriate
age) to issues they will face outside these walls - moral integrity, tolerance, evolution, modern views of
sexuality, role of government in our lives, responsibility of fathers or mothers, ethics, use of technology, etc. - you
can rest assured they will be directed to the source of truth to find the right answers.
I encourage you, as a parent, to have these discussions as well with your child.
Remember, our role is to assist families in equipping students.
Blessings.
Preschool - 6th Grade Information
By Mrs. Stock
Dear Families,
A word has stuck with me the last several days as I have been reflecting on the Christmas season.
LIGHT... we see it in the star we put on top of our Christmas trees, in the soft glow of the advent candles we
reflect over each Sunday and in the Christmas decorations that adorn houses this time of year. LIGHT... the reminder
that Christ IS the LIGHT of the world sent to bring us out of darkness.
We at Lake Center Christian School are praying that the true meaning of the season would radiate in the hearts
and minds of our students and families. We are so thankful for you. Have a wonderful week.
VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL
After opening up the season at 2-0, the Lady Tigers dropped their first game of the year against PTC-opponent,
Garrettsville Garfield. The Lady G-Men, who will finish near the top of the PTC standings, proved to be a great
challenge for the Lady Tigers by defeating them, 81-49. Kennedy Haubert led LCCS in scoring with her second
straight game of 21 points. Hannah Mang also paced the squad by scoring 15. Coach Keene and the Lady Tigers
will look to bounce back as they’ll be in action twice this coming week, taking on PTC-opponent, Rootstown, on
Wednesday, and will then play host to Mansfield Christian on Saturday.
Week Results: Garfield Lady G-Men (L, 49-81)
VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL
The Tigers earned their second straight victory in a thriller against the always-competitive St. Thomas Aquinas
Knights. In a tied ballgame and just seconds remaining, Blake Sommers stole the ball from the Knights and scored
a fastbreak layup to take the lead. The Tigers were then able to get one more defensive stop to secure the 49-47 victory.
Adam Nowak led the Tigers in scoring with 14, while Payton Triplett added 11. The Tigers will take their 2-0
record to Garrettsville Garfield this coming Tuesday and will then play host to Springfield on Saturday.
THE GIFT OF A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL EDUCATION
In the spirit of giving this Christmas Season, Lake Center Christian School continues
to take an offering at each Christmas program. All money collected goes completely for
TUITION ASSISTANCE. Our mission is to “assist Christian families and their churches
in equipping students for lifelong learning and service to Christ.” Our desire is that every
family who would like to have their students be part of the Lake Center Christian School,
can afford to send them. We do not want cost to be a barrier to an education centered in
Jesus Christ. Please consider how you can help us in continuing our mission.
