Dear Readers,
Welcome aboard SpiceJet!
At the dawn of the New Year, I convey
my warm greetings and good wishes to
you and your families for a happy and
prosperous 2019!
After an eventful 2018 filled with
remarkable achievements, we look forward
to another exciting year of challenges and
opportunities, and all-round growth for our
airline as well as our employees.
In 2018, we inducted 10 of Boeing’s
newest and most-advanced 737 MAX
8 aircraft in addition to five of the new
90-seater Q400’s and two freighters,
flew to eight new destinations, opened
nine routes under UDAN or the regional
connectivity scheme, flew more than 19
million passengers, became the first Indian
carrier to launch a dedicated air cargo
service and pioneered several unique
initiatives like operating India’s first-ever
BioJet fuel-powered flight.
In December 2018, we announced the
addition of Bhopal as our 50th domestic
destination with the introduction of five new
flights to the city. We also announced the
launch of five direct flights to the temple town
of Shirdi. Last month, we introduced eight
direct flights to and from the city of Hyderabad
and six direct flights connecting Chennai
with key pilgrim centres like Varanasi and
Shirdi besides tourist spots like Port Blair and
Bagdogra. Further, we announced special daily
flights to be operated during the Maha Kumbh
Mela between Prayagraj (Allahabad) and New
Delhi along with a host of other new non-stop
flights and frequencies connecting Hyderabad
to Ahmedabad, Bagdogra and Goa.
We continued to prioritise reliability
and punctuality, the two primary features of
our operational excellence. Throughout the
year, we flew on time, had one of the lowest
cancellation rates and registered a passenger
load factor (occupancy) of over 90%. In fact,
for 44 consecutive months we have flown
with the highest loads in the country.
As I said at the outset, 2018 was a
satisfactory year for SpiceJet.
Between October and December 2018,
we have added 16 brand new planes to our
fleet which is close to a 30% expansion of our
fleet. In 2019, we intend to carry on with the
aggressive expansion of our network — both
domestic and international — and setting
new benchmarks in regional connectivity. We
will continue to introduce new routes under
UDAN and providing air connectivity to the
remotest parts of the country.
SpiceJet has always been admired for
its innovative and out-of-the-box approach,
and year 2019 will be no different as we
pursue greater initiatives. We will also strive
for sustainable development — where we
connect people and communities, trade and
tourism, and also work towards creating
sustainable jobs and growth opportunities
for our employees and flyers.
As you can see, we have no intention of
resting on our laurels in 2019. We have much
to achieve and miles to fly.
On behalf of my colleagues, I once again

bring love and warmth in your lives, and
give you reasons to celebrate all through
the year.
