reasons why the use of cell phones, cameras or other<br />

SWIMMING<br />

Children enjoy a recre<strong>at</strong>ional swim period each day (except<br />

some field trip days), we<strong>at</strong>her permitting. Trained Y<br />

lifeguards conduct swim tests for all campers prior to<br />

swimming each Monday. P<strong>at</strong>hfinders, Trailblazers and<br />

Woodsy´s Pals (ages 3-10) also receive one swim lesson<br />

a day. The <strong>YMCA</strong>´s focus is on keeping all our children safe.<br />

management skills and acquire camp experience working with children<br />

of different ages. Applicants must schedule an interview with the camp<br />

director prior to registr<strong>at</strong>ion. This program is highly selective! If this<br />

camp is successfully completed, it may lead to a counselor position when<br />

June 10-14: Medieval Times<br />

Travel back in time to Medieval Europe. <strong>Camp</strong> is filled with lords, ladies, knights<br />

and jesters as we transform into a kingdom of the High Middle Ages. Learn<br />

about feudal times, castle intricacies and particip<strong>at</strong>e in our archery and<br />

jousting tournaments. We celebr<strong>at</strong>e all our victories <strong>at</strong> the grand feast.<br />

June 17-21 and June 24-28: Super Hero Academy<br />

The <strong>Camp</strong> UMLY Justice League is recruiting new superheroes. Do you have<br />

wh<strong>at</strong> it takes? Come to our st<strong>at</strong>e-of-the-art superhero academy where we<br />

research the science behind superpowers. We design and craft our own<br />

brand-new superhero identities. Once the training ends, we work together<br />

to defe<strong>at</strong> some of the most infamous super villains known to mankind!<br />

July 1-5: Western Frontier (no camp July 4)<br />

Howdy partner! Head west along the Oregon Trail in your finest duds and<br />

be ready for adventure! Pan for gold and learn about N<strong>at</strong>ive American<br />

School of Wizardry, July 8-12 and July 15-19<br />

Welcome to Hogwarts Academy <strong>at</strong> UMLY! <strong>Camp</strong>ers are enrolled in a<br />

week of the wizarding world where their group will be sorted and placed<br />

into one of the four houses. Their class schedule includes potions, care<br />

of magical cre<strong>at</strong>ures and games on the Quidditch field. Learn how these<br />

subjects truly connect with the Muggle world. Challenges also await<br />

because “you know who” and his followers will be lurking about.<br />

Pir<strong>at</strong>es of UMLY, July 22-26 and July 29-August 2<br />

Prepare to set sail on this pir<strong>at</strong>e adventure. Unfurl the sails and raise<br />

the Jolly Roger as we take to the high seas in search of adventure, glory<br />

and hidden treasure. Follow the mysterious clues on the map while we<br />

chart a course for the most fun you will have all year. Along the way we<br />

learn all about pir<strong>at</strong>e myths, traditions and secrets.<br />

Star Wars Jedi Training Academy, August 5-9 and August 12-16<br />

On the far side of the universe on the third planet from the sun is an<br />

event known for training Jedi and b<strong>at</strong>tling the empire. Wear your Jedi<br />

cloak and train like Luke Skywalker (climbing, light saber techniques and<br />

quests to save friends, escape the De<strong>at</strong>h Star or find Obi Wan Kenobi’s<br />

home). Group meetings become Jedi debriefings, where campers discuss<br />

how they worked as a team and wh<strong>at</strong> is needed to make them stronger<br />

for the next challenge. Closing stage becomes a Jedi gradu<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />

Emergency contact and health inform<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

will be collected electronically through an<br />

email invit<strong>at</strong>ion received after registr<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

has been completed.<br />

REGISTRATION POLICIES<br />

• A <strong>YMCA</strong> membership is not required to<br />

register for camp. However, those who<br />

maintain a <strong>YMCA</strong> membership <strong>at</strong> the time<br />

of registr<strong>at</strong>ion through the end of a camp<br />

session receive member r<strong>at</strong>es. If the <strong>YMCA</strong><br />

membership is not maintained during this<br />

period, the fee will be adjusted to the<br />

non-member r<strong>at</strong>e. No changes to fees will<br />

be made if a <strong>YMCA</strong> membership has been<br />

started after the camp registr<strong>at</strong>ion has<br />

been processed.<br />

• Registr<strong>at</strong>ion for each camp week must<br />

be submitted by 10 pm the previous<br />

Wednesday. L<strong>at</strong>e registr<strong>at</strong>ion will ONLY be<br />

accepted the previous Thursday or Friday<br />

with a l<strong>at</strong>e fee of $50 applied. Any camp<br />

registr<strong>at</strong>ion change made after the initial<br />

registr<strong>at</strong>ion will result in a $25 change fee.<br />

• A camp deposit of $35 per child per week<br />

is due <strong>at</strong> the time of registr<strong>at</strong>ion. Deposits<br />

are non-refundable and non-transferable<br />

and are subtracted from your weekly r<strong>at</strong>e.<br />

The remaining balance will be processed<br />

two Sundays prior to the camp start d<strong>at</strong>e.<br />

Payments must be made through weekly<br />

autom<strong>at</strong>ed draft or in-full <strong>at</strong> time of<br />

registr<strong>at</strong>ion. <strong>Camp</strong> payments are not able<br />

to be split between two or more payers.<br />

• Any camp cancell<strong>at</strong>ions less than one week<br />

prior to the camp start d<strong>at</strong>e will result in<br />

a $50 cancell<strong>at</strong>ion fee.<br />

• No refunds are available after the start<br />

of a camp week.<br />

• Families who receive CCW funding are<br />

required to pay a $10 per camper per week<br />

fee in addition to their weekly copay.<br />

• Families with two or more children signing<br />

up for the same camp week receive 10%<br />

off the lowest weekly fee (restrictions<br />

apply). Discount can only be applied<br />

during onsite registr<strong>at</strong>ion. Discount is<br />

not able to be combined with financial<br />

assistance and/or staff discounts.<br />

PICK UP ON TIME!<br />

The camp day ends <strong>at</strong> 6 pm<br />

<strong>at</strong> the <strong>Upper</strong> <strong>Main</strong> <strong>Line</strong> <strong>YMCA</strong>.<br />

If you are going to be l<strong>at</strong>e<br />

picking up your child, please<br />

arrange to have an authorized<br />

pick-up person arrive by 6 pm<br />

or call the Y to inform staff.<br />

<strong>Camp</strong>ers who are repe<strong>at</strong>edly<br />

picked up l<strong>at</strong>e from extended<br />

care may lose access to the<br />

program and parents will<br />

be required to pick up their<br />

child(ren) <strong>at</strong> the end of the<br />

regular camp day.<br />
