December 2018 Review
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you all enjoyed a relaxed and enjoyable Christmas break with family and friends.
As a school community, we were extremely busy right up to the last minute of the last
day of term. Through a number of activities over the course of the last week, we
managed to raise over £1000 for our Livo Fund. I am sure you will agree this was an
amazing achievement and all the money raised will go back into the school for the benefit
of our students.
Another initiative, launched in December, was that of our school Lotto and our first ‘Livo
Lotto’ draw will take place on Saturday, 12th of January. If you have not yet bought your
ticket then please read information details at the bottom this letter.
As part of her leadership ladder progress, Jamie Lea Robinson, a Year 8 student, has contributed
to this newsletter with an eloquent piece on why she chose to become a school
ambassador. Well done Jamie Lea!
2019 has begun in earnest and it has been a great start to the year with our students
happy and in the right frame of mind to get on with enjoying their learning.
Penny Wars
Livo Christmas Fair
As part of our fundraising activities prior to Christmas, we launched our very first
Inter-House Penny Wars competition. Every lunchtime students donated their
spare change into their House container. Pounds and pence counted as positive
points but silver coins counted as negative points, so students (and staff) were able
to sabotage other houses by adding silver coins to their containers! It was a great
competition and raised over £70. House Liver were the overall winners with
House Cunard coming in a close second! Well done to everyone!
Food Bank Collections
Students from 7L and 9E spent a lot of time before Christmas collecting food and
donations for local food banks. Three students from each of the tutor groups
visited South Sefton Foodbank on 17th December to deliver everything that had
been collected. Whilst they were there, the staff gave them a tour around the
centre and explained how everything worked. Well done to you all.
Awards and Reward Trips
At the end of the autumn term we celebrated the achievements of our students
with lots of them being taken on special rewards trips. Awards were also
presented to students in our termly Celebration Assemblies.
Well done - keep up the good work!
Our very first Livo Christmas Fair took place during December. Each Tutor Group
came up with an idea for a stall or activity and were in charge of running it on the
day. Students did a great job and had some brilliant ideas for raising money,
including our very own Santa's Grotto, a golf game and plenty of tasty treats! Each
year group were given the chance to visit the fair and get into the festive spirit!
Everyone had a fantastic time and over £700 was raised on the day. Well done to
all the staff and students involved in making it such a success!
Junior Leadership Team by Jamie Lea Robinson
Hello, my name is Jamie Lea and I am in Year 8. At first, in September 2017, I was
nervous and scared but also excited. I know how the Year 7 feel and that is why I
chose to become an Anti-Bullying Ambassador so that I can help these students
settle in and become their peer mentor. You may wonder how I earned my
badge and position. Well, it began about halfway through Year 7 when I realised
that some of my year group where having trouble settling in. I always had a
passion for helping others so my friend and I made an Instagram account so we
could help other students in different schools. Two weeks later Mrs Gaudie
came out with booklets that we had to fill in if we wanted to be an Anti-Bullying
Ambassador. We also had to get a reference from a teacher or member of staff
in school. I was accepted as an Anti-Bullying Ambassador and I attend Year 7
tutor once a week to help them settle into school. In Year 11, I aspire to be
Head Girl, this is like the boss of the Junior Leadership Team and on Open
Evening and Induction Evening they get to give a speech. If I become part of the
JLT I will speak up for the students because this is what makes this school great.
Thank you for reading and I hope that I have inspired you to be the best you can
be.
Christmas Card Competition
