Even better, now patients can get this same specialized care under one roof. Part of the hospital’s recent expansion and renovation includes almost 8,000 square feet for medical specialist office space. The space opened in October and offers a wide range of specialized care, with room for expanded offerings. Specialties and practitioners currently in the new space include: • General surgery—Josh Glupker, DO; • Nephrology—Adeleye A. Edon, DO, and Pius Kurian, MD; • Neurology—Xiaomei Gao-Hickman, MD, and Ann McLean, DO; • Orthopedic surgery—Stephen Olson, MD, and Krystal Foley, PA-C; and • Urology—William Gianakopoulos, MD, and Adam Weiser, MD. Specialists leverage the latest techniques and technology through an alliance partnership with two of central Ohio’s largest health systems: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Mount Carmel Health System. The facility, located on the second floor of the hospital’s expansion and accessible from the Park Avenue entrance, offers on-site, leading-edge imaging technology for quick and accurate diagnosis and precise treatment. Patients and visitors have access to convenient, free parking and free Wi-Fi. “Our team is happy to be in the new space, especially since it is designed with the patient in mind,” said Dr. Stephen Stephen Olson, MD, and Krystal Foley, PA-C, discuss a case in the waiting area of the new medical specialist office space at Madison Health. An X-ray room outfitted with new state-of-the-art equipment is located next to the orthopedic surgery specialist offices in the new medical specialist office space at the hospital. The following are highlights of the construction journey: Project planning: Summer 2015-Summer 2016 Design development: Fall/Winter 2016 Site preparation: Spring-Summer 2017 Energy plant construction: Spring-December 2017 Two-story addition: Fall 2017-December 2018 Old power plant and bridge demolition: January 2018 Construction of concourse between main hospital and Park Avenue Medical Building and construction of the pre- and post-surgery rooms: January-December 2018 Renovation and opening of Birthing Center: April-July 2018 Opening of the medical specialist office space: October 2018 Opening of the Cancer Center: January 2019 Opening of the Emergency Department: January 2019 Madison Health partnered with healthcare architect firm, Trinity: PDA, to plan and design the project. Dublin-based O’Brien Robinson Construction Services served as the construction manager. The hospital breaks ground on its expansion project in June 2017. Ron Lewis, the hospital’s former director of maintenance, has fun with temporary signage that helped visitors navigate the hospital grounds during construction. The framework for the concourse connecting the Park Avenue Medical Building with the main hospital goes up in March 2018. Flooring is installed in the new Emergency Department in October 2018. January 2019: Work finishes up on the hospital’s new main entrance, which faces Park Avenue and sits between the new two-story addition and the new pre- and post-surgery rooms and concourse to the Park Avenue Medical Building. Ready for grand opening day on Jan. 18, 2019
