There’s a lot of change in the market. Older clients want to
chill out with the family, younger ones want a story to tell on
social media and there’s a big growth in combined holidays.
Sri Lanka is very popular for that because you can go on a
three-, or four-day tour, visit a wildlife sanctuary, then go on
to a lovely beach.
Another popular choice is flying with Emirates and having
a few days in UAE, then going on with a direct flight to the
Maldives or Seychelles.
Or, if you don’t want to go that far, you can do three
centres within the UAE. A few days in the city, then on to
the amazing luxury Ritz Carlton tented resort in the Al Wadi
desert nature reserve, where each villa has its own private pool
and you can ride camels or horses in the desert. Then head up
to Abu Dhabi for the white-sand beach.
A wonderful place for unspoiled beaches is the Zanzibar
archipelago in Tanzania. There are two or three top end
hotels, including the Residence, which is a stunning resort on
one of the best beaches in the world. From there you can also
do a mini safari. We tell people, go now – it won’t stay this
unspoiled for ever.
In Europe there is a massive upsurge in interest in
Greece, luxury all-inclusive resorts. It used to be seen as a
bit of a bucket and spade destination, but now it’s going
more upmarket. Hotels are offering platinum plan serenity
indulgence five-star packages, where you get everything
included.
