That said, Ian did resist his instinct<br />

to paint the walls a darker shade.<br />

“I’m normally a dark paint, wallpaper<br />

type of person. I always said I never wanted<br />

to live in a white house because it would<br />

be too boring. I’ve surprised myself by<br />

keeping this all white, but I’m pleased I<br />

have. And I’ve learned that once you get<br />

into white you start to get boring about all<br />

the difference shades of white out there.”<br />

And there is certainly colour aside<br />

from the art. The ground floor living<br />

area showcases plenty of warm textiles<br />

and furniture in soft greys and blues.<br />

At one end sits a huge 70-inch TV.<br />

“Lisa went crazy when I ordered it”, Ian<br />

laughs. “She said there’s no way you are having<br />

that thing in the house. But it’s funny because<br />

I look at it now and think it’s not quite big<br />

enough.”<br />

A step down is the dining and kitchen area<br />

dominated by a white extendable dining table<br />

and blue upholstered chairs (more Ligne<br />

Roset) leading into a grey kitchen area, a space<br />

Ian wanted to look as minimal as possible.<br />
