The 374 shoeboxes which were
collected from All Saints’ at the
end of November have been
sent to Bosnia this year.
Although the majority of the
boxes were prepared in the
workshops at All Saints’, the
Baptist Church and St Mary’s
Everton had also provided
some boxes and we also were
able to donate about £1300
towards transport costs.
Through this magazine I would
like to say a HUGE thank you to
all the different people and
organisations who made this
possible by their donations and
willingness to fill boxes in the
workshops. One of the
contacts in Bosnia was very
excited that a total of over
8,000 from this area of
Hampshire were going to be
distributed. Some of the
schools in Bosnia had very poor
Roma children who are so
excited when opening their
boxes.
Look out for the dates
of the workshops in
September/October
this year and in the
meantime, idle hands
can be kept busy
knitting beanie hats
or mittens or hand
puppets. Knitting
patterns can be downloaded
from Operation Christmas Child
website. Or if you are a whiz
on the sewing machine why
not make pencil cases or toilet
bags.
