Superintendent News
By Dr. Joseph Beeson
Dear Parents:
“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”
(John 1:4, 5)
For many of us the news from New York was shocking. Facebook “lit up” with comments, my Twitter feed was full of
comments, and many of the Christian blogs I read have spoken about it. From what I can tell (and I have not fully read
the law), abortion is now allowed up until the live birth of a child. How sad! Scripture let’s us know that God is the author
of life. God has knit us together in the womb, John the Baptist is clearly spoken of as alive and “leaping” in his Elizabeth’s
womb, and Isaiah speaks of God calling him from his mother’s womb. We believe that “the people of God are called to
view all human life as sacred...” (Lake Center Statement of Faith).
Rest assured, your children are receiving the truth here at school. As a result, our light will shine brighter as the world gets
darker.
Preschool - 6 th Grade Information
By Mrs. Stock
Dear Families,
Boy it has been cold out these last couple of days. It is definitely a time for dressing warm- wearing heavy coats,
boots, hats, gloves etc... so that we are protected from the elements. We talked last week in chapel about the idea
of dressing ourselves spiritually as well. Ephesians tells us to put on the full armor of God so that we may stand
firm and be ready for battle. Certainly this is a time, when we are called to live out our faith in the midst of opposition
and a time when we should always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks the reason for the
hope that you have. I pray that we would wake each day ready to put on righteousness, faith, truth, peace, and
salvation and that we would take up the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.
Praying this week that God’s truth would strengthen and encourage you.
VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Lady Tigers went 1-1 on the week but played two very solid games. The first, against PTC-County opponent,
Garfield, was a nail-biter from start to finish. The G-Men, who are typically near the top of the
conference standings, had their hands full with the Tigers throughout the entire night. Garfield eventually
pulled away with the win, 61-55. Hannah Mang and Kennedy Haubert led the Tigers in scoring with 24 and
20, respectively. After being able to build off a positive performance against a very good team, the Tigers set
program records in their win against Our Lady of the Elms on Saturday, 79-33. The team set a single-game
scoring record and Kennedy Haubert set an individual single-game scoring record with 39 points.
Week Results: Garfield G-Men (L, 55-61), Elms Panthers (W, 79-33)
VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL
The Tigers only played one game on the week at Youngstown Ursuline, known as a very solid program.
Though the Tigers were within striking distance and battled for an entire half, the Irish pulled away with the
game in the 2nd half and ended up winning convincingly, 83-58. Payton Triplett led the team in scoring on
the evening with 12. The Tigers are currently tied with Rootstown for 1st in the conference and have two big
PTC-County games this week against Rootstown and Valley Christian.
Week Results: Ursuline Irish (L, 58-83)
Inspire students to empathize, pray, and engage with the pains of poverty
like never before.
Overview
The Matthew 25 Challenge is a discipleship tool to
help your students step out of their comfort zones
and engage in God’s love for those Jesus calls “the
least of these brothers and sisters
of mine.” Teachers will use a 5-day program
containing daily activities, compelling stories of
children in need, prayer points, videos, and other
ways to engage students. The week ends with a
student-led prayer service, where students and
their families are invited to answer Jesus’ call to
love and serve by sponsoring children in need.
Resources you’ll receive
» Planning Guide for teachers » Child prayer cards
» Launch video
