C H R I S T M A S C H E E R Christmas Cheer distribution was held on 18 and 19 December 2018. Christmas Cheer is supported by the 3BA Christmas Appeal. Gifts were donated to the 3BA Christmas Appeal and the Kmart Wishing Tree by the community. The Salvation Army, in partnership with other leading agencies, distributed them to people who struggled to provide gifts to their loved ones over Christmas. The Salvation Army Christmas Cheer distribution helped 545 clients directly. Clients registered for themselves and their immediate family, allowing us to provide Christmas Cheer to their dependents. We helped an additional 572 adult dependents and 1092 dependents under 13-years. Each family/individual client was provided with a voucher and each child provided a toy. We would like to thank the support of the community and businesses who donated gifts. Some of the organisations, businesses and schools who donated included 3BA, Ray White, Body and Soul, Ballarat Clarendon College, Mt Clear College, Ballarat Base Hospital Paediatrics Ward, Bendigo Bank, York Street Kindergarten, City of Ballarat, Good 360 Australia and Ballarat Party Hire. If we have missed anyone, please feel free to send us a message via Facebook @salvosblueprint102 and we will highlight your wonderful contributions. We could not have held the event without our volunteers. Approximately 35 volunteers sorted and organised gifts into age groups and gender and distributed the gifts to the people who registered, including volunteers from Bunnings and AFL Victoria. C H R I S T M A S W R A P P I N G Christmas wrapping is a wonderful opportunity to provide a service to the community and raise money for The Salvation Army Ballarat Community Church. The amount raised is still being tallied. The current running tally is $2,440. We had approximately 20 volunteers participating outside Target in Central Square over the month of December. One volunteer said it became busy over the last days before Christmas when people were getting some last minute presents. COLOURING COMPETITION Salvos Blueprint 102 ran a colouring competition over November and December. The children who entered the competition have had their beautiful art displayed on the walls at Salvos Café 102. This month, we had the pleasure of presenting 14 participants with prizes. Thank you to the children and their parents for participating in the competition. All the kids did a wonderful job and we hope having their work up on the wall made Salvos Café 102 feel more childfriendly. B A L L A R A T S A L V O S | 1 4
