the Community
Brynne Arendale
Community involvement is extremely important to
the Brandon Police Department and the members of
this agency. We stay active in many community projects,
charities and events all throughout the year.
Our annual “Give a Pint“ and “Battle of the Badges”
blood drives have brought in many people that normally
would have never donated and we have been able to
educate the community on the importance of donating
blood to help save lives. In March of 2018, we hosted
“Give a Pint for Whitley Grace” and we were able to help
the Mathis family obtain credits for their daughter who
was diagnosed in January with acute aplastic anemia.
Events such as this make a huge difference in people’s
lives and that’s what this job is truly about—making a
difference.
The Brandon Police Department has hosted many
events for the community such as “Trunk or Treats,”
meet and greets, and children group tours. Our law
enforcement officers take pride in staying actively
involved with Brandon’s youth.
Sgt. Sam Versell, Officer Christy Snow, Chief William
Thompson, Lt. Mark Miller, Sgt. Dan Carter, Officer Tim
Fisackerly, Officer Brandon Waltman, Officer Todd King,
Officer Dan Kirk Russell and many other members of
our agency stay involved in all our local schools by
being outstanding role models—whether it’s eating lunch
with the kids, coaching a baseball team, sharing a game
of basketball, giving out high fives or making them
laugh. It is a very rewarding feeling to know that each
gesture, no matter how small, has such a huge impact.
Sgt. Brad Conner and Officer Brandon Waltman
recently completed the “Fight for Air Climb” hosted by
the American Lung Association.
Our agency was extremely honored to issue the 2018
Top Cop award to Sgt. Joseph French who works diligently
against the war on drugs.
Our SWAT team members, Detective Kevin O’Flarity,
Sgt. Brad Conner, Officer Tim Fisackerly, Officer Brandon
Waltman and Sgt. Seth Brown recently competed in the
annual National Law Fit Challenge.
We are always looking for new ways to bring law
enforcement and the citizens of Brandon together in
efforts to grow as a community. l
