Northamptonshire. The historic property, which is a listed

Easter escapes 

Pubs, period properties and places by the sea are providing us with the 

perfect excuse for an Easter getaway! And it doesn't matter if the sun doesn't 

shine, the rain falls or the wind blows because when you receive a warm 

welcome, have a comfortable guest room and are excited by the super food 

to follow, the scene is set for an enjoyable Easter escape. 

As the long bank holiday weekend falls late in April, signs of spring should 

certainly be in abundance and the promise of blue skies and warming 

sunshine will add to the appeal of an Easter break for many people.

The Royal Oak at Keswick

For lovers of the Lake District and fans of craft 

ales, picking a pub in Keswick for a few nights 

away has to be close to perfection! If you feel 

you need to work up a thirst and an appetite to 

justify your stay, you're in the right place to roam 

the hills and ramble round Derwentwater. If you 

prefer the comforting glow of an open fireplace 

and a good book for company, you're in the 

right place too! Pick the 18th century Royal Oak 

for your stay and you're following in the footsteps 

of literary giants such as Sir Walter Scott, Lord 

Tennyson and Robert Louis Stevenson. 

Located on Main Street in Keswick, the former 

coaching inn is close to the town centre and 

offers en-suite guest rooms individually designed

fabulous power shower or a bath. 

The bar stocks real ale from Thwaites Brewery

the sea and to Great Yarmouth which has been

VALE RESORT

Golfers have two championship courses to tee 

off from at the stunning Vale Resort which has 

hosted European and PGA golf championships, 

society days and company events. The par 73 

Wales National is one of the longest courses 

outside of the USA measuring 7,433 yards. 

Mature woodland, wide and narrow fairways, 

water hazards and immaculate greens will have 

even the lowest handicap golfers challenged 

on a course which is a firm favourite with 

members and guests. 

Long and short holes with water coming into 

play on 13 holes set the scene for a challenging 

and enjoyable round on the par 72 Lake Course. 

Be warned, reaching the 18th can be intimidating 

with the green situated behind a pond and 

overlooked by trees and the eyes of hotel guests

There are chipping and bunker practise areas 

and a putting green too so golfers can warm-up 

or master their skills at leisure.

well-stocked pro shop, an all weather driving 

range, trolley and buggy hire and an excellent 

club house serving good, wholesome food. And 

naturally, it provides the perfect place to recount 

that beautiful shot you made on the 5th!

the Coloured Cob Equestrian Centre. It's suitable 

for novices and experienced riders and takes in 

local tourist attractions as well as Sherwood 

Forest. Once at the spa, guests enjoy a delicious 

cream tea and their chosen treatment. This 

horse and spa experience starts from £45 and is 

sure to make a memorable Mother's Day gift. 

If Ride and Relax sounds a little too strenuous, 

the Ladies of Leisure half day experience is 

available during the week. It offers a choice of 

either a New Leaf full body exfoliation with a 

file and polish for either the hands or feet, or 

alternatively, a New Leaf serene scalp massage. 

The experience includes cream tea and full 

use of the spa facilities and gym between 

9.00am - 1.00pm. Prices start from £55. 

For spoiling mums-to-be, the Baby Blossom 

pamper session at £85 includes a peaceful 

pregnancy massage and lunch in the Spa café. 

A Jessica prescriptive manicure or pedicure can 

be added on too for a further £25 each. 

The New Leaf Spa has many more treatments 

and experiences available but booking in 

advance is definitely recommended, especially 

for the weekends. Guests staying at the hotel on 

a spa break package can use the facilities from 

1.00pm on the day of check-in until 1.00pm 

on the day of check-out. Accommodation at 

Clumber Park Muthu Hotel and Spa ranges from 

executive double rooms to romantic four-poster 

rooms or a beautiful suite with a giant sleigh bed.
