Some rituals and traditions are worth holding

The outstanding Mercure Kenwood Hall Hotel 

and Spa in Sheffield is serving afternoon tea in a

their recently launched Laura Ashley Tea Room. 

Open from 10am to 6pm and with its distinctive 

signature Laura Ashley décor and fine china, guests

The Tea Room has a choice of menus, starting at 

£20 for traditional afternoon tea up to £30 for the 

champagne tea. There’s also a savoury option for 

those who don’t have a sweet tooth and proving 

you’re never too young to experience this great 

British tradition, a children’s afternoon tea is also 

available for just £10. 

The tiers of temptation include tantalizing 

sandwiches of goats’ cheese and beetroot, honey 

roast ham and piccalilli, Scottish smoked salmon 

and cream cheese plus tasty Henderson’s rarebit. 

For fans of savoury treats, and if it’s not too much 

of a sacrifice, hold back on these tasty sandwiches 

and enjoy the most deliciously soft boiled Scotch 

egg imaginable, flaky pastry pork pie and a piece 

of moist fruit cake with Wensleydale cheese before 

savouring light and fluffy buttermilk scones, jam 

and clotted cream. 

Then pause. And linger over the Laura Ashley loose 

leaf tea and a Prosecco refill! 

The top tier of the Laura Ashley cake stand is a 

beauty! Macaroons, mousses and mouth-wateringly 

scrumptious cakes and pastries provide the final 

sugar rush on what is a lovely experience delivered 

with thoughtful service. Gluten and vegan options 

are available along with morning brunch so

yards, the par 72 course has water hazards on 13
