In Memoriam Donna H. Eldridge Donna H. Eldridge, a New Trier graduate, died Feb. 19 at the age of 97. She was a graduate of New Trier High School, class of 1939, and attended Northwestern University. She was an active member of the Kenilworth community, attending the Kenilworth Union Church, leading girl scout troops and selling local real estate. After moving to Poway, Calif., for a few years with her husband, Gene, she returned to the North Shore to be closer to her family. She was an avid bridge player, loved a good book and a good laugh. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Jan E. Betts and Denise E. Gossage (Steve), and three grandchildren, Jennifer L. Czerwinski (Dan), Jason A. Betts (Chanda), and Frank W. Gossage. She was great-grandmother to Peter and Meghan Czerwinski and Aliyah and Olivia Betts. Eldridge was the aunt of Harvey Hayden (Jean), Murray Hayden and Peter Eldridge. Eldridge was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene P. Eldridge. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Elliott Chapel, Westminster Place, Presbyterian Homes, 3200 Grant St., Evanston. Rachel Owen Rachel Owen, nee Anderson, 61, a former School District 36 employee, died Feb. 20 after a courageous fight to cervical cancer. Owen was the beloved wife of Donald Owen for 34 years, loving mother of Clinton (Krystyna) Owen and Katie (Patrick) Winstead, adored “GaGa” of Colin and Jacob, loving sister-in-law and friend to many. Owen worked as a secretary for School District 36 in Winnetka for approximately 20 years. A celebration of Owens’ life was held on Saturday, March 2. Richard Andrew Rauch Richard Andrew Rauch, of Winnetka, died at the age of 89 on Dec. 1, 2018. By the time Rauch left the service to resume his education, he had been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Rauch graduated from the Indiana University School of Business in Bloomington. After graduation, the family moved to Indianapolis, where Rauch took all of the graduate business courses offered at IU’s Indianapolis campus and taught undergraduate finance classes at night. In later years, Rauch periodically returned to IU as a guest lecturer for the Real Estate department and was awarded the University’s “Distinguished Owner- Manager Alumnus Citation.” Rauch had great success at Seay & Thomas and became its president and served in that capacity until after the sale of the company to IC Industries. In the early 1970’s, Rauch started his own company, Rauch & Associates, a commercial real estate firm engaged in development, brokerage and management, which eventually became Rauch & Company. In 2014, he sold his business interests and concluded his professional career. Rauch was a past president of the Chicago Board of Realtors, a past director of the Illinois Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors, and “Illinois Realtor of the Year” in 1977. Rauch was a longtime member of the Union League Club of Chicago. He held numerous offices including serving as its 107th president and being on the board of directors for three years. He was a trustee of the Union League Club Boys and Girls Clubs, and a senior counselor to the Union League Club Civic & Arts Foundation. He served six years on the Public Affairs Committee and was a past chairman of the Armed Forces subcommittee. He was also a chairman of the Club’s Aviation Group, a commander of the Union League Club American Legion Post, and a chairman of the ULC’s 721 Club, as well as the ULC’s Chicago 502. Rauch was also a past president of the Metropolitan Chicago Air Force Community Council and served on the Commissioning Committee for the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. He was a longtime member of the Chicago Crime Commission, the Urban Land Institute and the Tavern Club of Chicago. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Suzanne Rauch; his son Richard A. Rauch, Jr. and his wife, Deborah Susan Rauch; his daughter Rebecca Sue Rauch; and his grandsons Richard A. Rauch, III; and Samuel G. Rauch and his wife Cheyenne Solomon. He was pre-deceased by his older brother, George W. Rauch, Jr., as well as his older sister Martha Ellen Rauch Greenough. Funeral Services & Interment: Per Rauch’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. William Theodore Shaw William Theodore Shaw, a New Trier graduate, died Jan. 24. Shaw was born in Toledo, Ohio, on Nov. 7, 1934, to Wanda and W. Theodore Shaw. He attended Scarsdale High School in Scarsdale, New York and graduated from New Trier High School. In 1956, he graduated from Denison University, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and editor of the college humor magazine for several years. In 1962, he married Alexandran Mapes. In 1972, they moved from New York City to Greenwich, Conn. For 41 years, he was a copywriter in the advertising agency business in New York City. First, with Ogilvy & Mather, then McCaffrey & McCall, where he was an executive vice president and co-creative director and member of the board. He retired from Grey Advertising as a VP/Creative Supervisor. The Shaws joined the Belle Haven Club in 1977, where Ted was involved with several committees. In 1994, he co-founded the Club’s news magazine Tidings and continued as co-editor for the next 25 years. Shaw is survived by Alexandra Shaw, his wife of 56 years, daughters Adrienne Mapes Shaw, Hilary Shaw Houldin, twin grandchildren John and Mary Louise Houldin, his sister Marcia Codling and niece Carolyn Martel.
